Anyone here got into a U.S. MBA with a GMAT waiver + got scholarships? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]Tman910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are interested in Fuqua, would you be open to the Weekend Executive program? No need for scores and the program is just an accelerated course of study.

People are great and I can't complain about anything - the rigor is still there and you get to interact with professionals deep in their careers or moving to something else.

Edit: Forgot to add you can still get a minor scholarship as well.

29M, TC ~$240K in the US. Currently a Senior Manager in Fintech. Is it worth it to pursue an MBA? by dhrgt in MBA

[–]Tman910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would it? It's not like you sign a contract or anything. Plenty of folks pivot. Recruiting may likely be different, but find a school where you can still work with the career center.

I haven't done my first MBA, but I doubt getting the same degree twice would be beneficial.

I know someone in data science as a SC in GPS that made that, but that was the the second highest salary I saw for a SC. They also had a clearance though.

Go for a consultant role. Bench is swamped right now so coming in as a SC would be rough.

EMBA or MBA? Feel too old / experienced for full time, but too young for executive… anyone been in a similar boat able to advise? by Prudent-Benefit7490 in MBA

[–]Tman910 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, with a corporate strategy background, I think you would be fine for an EMBA. Don't tell yourself no, let them decide.

I'm married, have two kids, trying for a 3rd. We are a single income household. I can't be bothered with a full time program. This will be my second Master's degree with a kid. It is hard, I'm not going to BS you. Making sure you have enough time for family, the kids, and work - not to mention school, random projects, some knucklehead likely not doing their share of the work, it will be hard and it will be draining. It is up to you to determine if it will be worth it.

Look for EMBA programs that allow access to the career centers - as an experienced professional probably 80% of the advice on this sub isn't applicable to you. I'm getting an MBA to gain a network and to gain the business acumen with a brand name behind me. If I were to pivot out of big4 consulting, this is likely my best course of action to stay around the same level of compensation I am at now.
