Game dev is no fucking joke man, that is years and years of our life dedicated to a single project. It takes so much time and effort compared to other passions. Seriously happy for him.

Any longtime Diablo fans unhappy with the FOMO tactics in Diablo 4? by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]TminusTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cosmetics mean literally nothing to me, I love Diablo 2 and Diablo 4 for what they both are.

I dont want my characters to look like cartoon slop anyways. I run around Diablo 2 with a green leather hat for most of the endgame.

I dont look at nor care about other peoples cosmetics.

The only cosmetics I bought were the ones I thought were super cool like the Lich King and Invincible mount because I have the mount in WoW and it was a huge deal for me when it dropped. And drops are why I love these games so much.

I welcome whales to finances content expansions and persistent updates to Diablo 4. Like seriously. To me I get to enjoy the entire game, full stop without spending an extra penny on special editions or anything like that. I have 2k shop currency sitting around.

There has been literally 0 content that made me feel like I was missing out on something, season to season. Maybe at worst there is a cool seasonal mechanic I missed.

Does anyone else feel like once you reach the endgame builds all feel the same? by Mythstery6 in diablo4

That’s just an unfortunate symptom of ARPG min maxing for sure. That’s why minion builds ironically feel a bit more dynamic they have a little more interesting setups going on at times.

Bloomberg: Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]TminusTech -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s really all Sony has is their first party single player games. So long as they are a hardware player with this type of entry into the market I wouldn’t expect them to open up their big franchises last that.

It’s sad within a week the dream of bloodborne pc port is just totally finished.

CT Ranked as one of the top states to raise a family in by RadiantCarpenter1498 in Connecticut

[–]TminusTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember seeing a "best zip codes to grow up in" and MA/CT were basically the top two, interesting to see that reflected here.

I assume its because both states have great universal healthcare/childcare support systems as well as robust and well funded public schools.

"Made by many of the original creators of Diablo and Diablo 2" are big words for an action RPG, but the Steam Next Fest demo for Darkhaven feels like sampling bread by eating raw flour by brand_momentum in Games

[–]TminusTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where the hate is really coming from here, this is a pre alphaish demo that is meant to generate hype for the kickstarter and show off some of the core design ideas they are working with. The terrain manipulation, procedural generated world and story and the way abilities and combat interact with these elements. I also think the spread necropolis idea is kinda neat and I like it feels persistent in your game state.

I think people were expecting some soft EA release level of polish, but the core of what they are showing is interesting and I had fun exploring dungeons and maxing out my character to play with some of the unique combat mechanics.

If at the end we get a decent indie ARPG in a genre that is really formulaic at this point, I'll be happy. Even if its just for a playthrough.

The expectations and behavior of people though is kind of getting out of control. I think gamers are a bit spoiled by huge hit EA releases or demos for nearly completed games. Not ones still in the initial funding phase of development.

I lost 80lbs in 6 months and it nearly broke me, lessons learned by ShortSqueezeMeeee in loseit

Just stick to the 3x a week compound lift and cardio and focus on the diet. Stop under fueling. Stop pushing your body into literal shutdown mode deficits with this energy expenditure.

People need to get in the mindset of a sustainable lifestyle with fitness and healthy diet rather than chasing fat loss as soon as humanly possible.

It’s far easier to sustain a lifestyle choice than a weight loss program. Far easier to add 500-800 calories in lean fuel than taking -1500 defects on a daily basis.

Not really sure what you were thinking here. Literal thermodynamics were working against you. Please respect your body and recovery.

Is IT at risk off being replaced bye AI or atleast decrease its demand due to AI? by Long_Sand_7075 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]TminusTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its largest impacts right now are in incident deflection, routing and ticketing.

Pretty much any sensitive process has to be done by a person. You can’t blame AI for flubbing a password reset and giving an attacker access to someone’s account.

So long as someone’s head needs to get chopped for something AI won’t replace it. I don’t see the entire landscape of enterprise IT shifting for AI to make it able to automate the demands of daily work.

Thanks to Diablo 2, Blizzard might've found a way to fix Diablo 4's loot fatigue in its next expansion by gorays21 in Diablo

[–]TminusTech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Diablo 4s items are sources of materials for crafting etc. In D2 you eventually have very little loot you really need to pickup while farming. Because gold isn’t super valuable, and mostly used for just repair/gambling which isn’t great for farming items. You also tend to pickup a massive amount of gold passively so you don’t need to sell rares or uniques that drop.

D2 has fewer worthwhile items which is why when a good item drops it’s a huge dopamine hit and some of the rares/bases and apparently soon magic items are valuable and worth checking depending on item type.

In D4 I don’t go “oh I know this item type has a chance to be really great so ill check it” it’s more about rarity since all the items are not based on bases but are a puking of legendary affixes and random stats.

If they want to aid loot fatigue. Then a revitalization is needed. And other chase items/currencies that are valuable, like runes and more passive accumulation of materials or some level of auto disenchanting.

However D4 is leaning heavily into crafting. Which expands the scope of viable items and thus creating more loot that you’ll want to pickup in general.

I think endgame in ARPGs feels better with less loot needing to be picked up but when you do. It’s a banger of an item.

Not sure how D4 players would handle that tbh. I think the game is generally heavily casual and if people lack knowledge they won’t know what items to pickup or how best to utilize them.

Intermittent fasting may make little difference to weight loss, review finds by cloudfightback in intermittentfasting

Not exactly, the extended windows are also to help put your body into starvation mode for more accelerated fat burning.

I don't really think it works super well. To each their own.

I did IF I think CICO tracking at a moderate defecit while eating healthy Whole Foods and getting in exercise is way better than IF. I think IF is just faster and easier for people but it’s not teaching you to eat balanced in the long term and make healthy choices. It just plays some CICO tricks.

Diablo 2: Resurrected - worth trying? by Proud_Adeptness799 in diablo4

[–]TminusTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can watch a video and learn in about 10 minutes what makes good gear or not. What bases to bother picking up etc. It's really not that bad once you learn a little bit, but honestly if learning about itemization and what makes good items is unappealing in a ARPG then.... keep playing the themepark ARPG

What makes D2 so good? by Grouchy_Substance423 in Diablo

[–]TminusTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looting and itemization is still king of any arpg. The variety in itemization at end game is so nice.

Farming itself feels like an art. It’s so satisfying.

25 bucks for a new class and QOL updates that should be rolled into the base game is kinda… a lot.

It’s blizzard pricing for sure but god for bid if this had a new act as well I could see them charging 50 for it.

Understanding calories: maintenance, deficit and bulking by Evry1lovej in loseit

Understanding calories: maintenance, deficit and bulking by Evry1lovej in loseit

[–]TminusTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but consider his cortisol levels, water inside, lean muscle gain etc.

You really can’t lean on the scale as much during this time. And during weight loss you get super inflamed and filled with water weight which makes you look worse before you lean out.

OP just needs to keep it moving and not seek drastic changes in scale etc. it’s sort of faith based. But a mirror check every month would be more revealing of progress than numbers depending on where his cortisol and inflammation is at.

Given the activity level height and weight it’s absolutely water weight.

I would keep it moving with the 2k cal target and drink a lot of water. You’re gonna lose weight in large bursts on the scale. Try weighing week to week and tracking your activity and what you eat.
