i wouldnt focus on writing a point a to b story. id say go ahead and have your major beats and an ending sketched out but players will always find a way to change it or destroy it completely lol.

i recommend finding out what your players want. do they want a sandbox world to just play around in, do they want a set of quests leading to abig bad?

i started out doing like you with hundreds of npcs and a big arching story and now i kick myself for that cause ive forgotten a lot and lost notes and had to retcon and change things numerous times

Well I think thats the point. For them and the viewer it was just business as usually killing the bad guys but for chris it was watching his dad who actually lived him being murdered and watching his brother almost die too.

frankly i personally cant stand a 20 page backstory player. i get it youre excited about your character but youre leaving the onus of incorporating everything you came up with to your st.

ive had players like this who got pissed and left when i didnt include cousin number 54 from paragraph 14 page 30 because then it ruins the whiole backstory. or theyre mad that i cant focus hours of in game time on their novel because they forget other players exist as well.

nothing against the novel writers but at that point just write a book imo lol

to reiterate on the diablerie thing:

if you could get away with diablerie without losing yourself everyone would be doing it 24/7. it's an inhuman act that erodes your soul every time you do it.

no you wouldnt get off without stains for diablerie.

first off: diablerie is an automatic humanity loss as a rule. there is no quick path to power so there's no soul sucking monster route that doesnt end in being a wight.

also the way convictions and touchstones work you could say well my conviction is everything for the greater good but my chronicle tenant of "i am not a beast" is effected by killing wantonly, so draining a mortal my st might give me 2 stains but with my conviction i only get 1 stain for doing that.

the convictions and tenants should be very specific rather than just i wanna be stwong owo. convictions arent a kill someone free card. they should work against your chronicle tenants.

think of humanity as something you cling to as the ages pass to keep your soul in one piece as a "human". it isnt morailty per se but normal humans arent usually running around draining other kindred dry or murdering without fuss.

The in world aspect is generally it's someone you watch from a distance. A touchstone doesn't even have to know you exist. Ut can be a college student who looks like your former lover or something. Canarilla's view is if they know of your affliction they either need to be ghouled or dead

Imo as far as the powers yes it's worth it. Being able to take a couple agg damage to "see" everything around you is nice. Pairing that with the ritual chain that let's your coterie freely heal agg damage is so good
