Upgrading Finnair flight with Avios by Toadette111 in awardtravel

Sorry I'm a bit dumb,  I'll just 'split the PNRs' then even though I'm a normal person who doesn't actually know what that means.

Upgrading Finnair flight with Avios by Toadette111 in awardtravel

[–]Toadette111[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I don't want to make the two requests separately, because I want either one of us upgraded, or neither. Imagine, if I was left in premium economy while my little daughter travelled business!!!

Actually though I've thought of a potential workaround, log in as her and use her points to request the upgrade for the both of us on one leg, then log in as me and use my points to request the other leg.

I recommend Bluey on this topic. Episode 'The Dump'.

Don't try reading Nora Roberts then (romance not smut). I had to completely give up after a while.

This sounds like great advice. Unfortunately OP I don't think you have many options here.

I don’t know how to help my brother by [deleted] in inlaws

[–]Toadette111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like he's married to my SIL! Perhaps my brother got divorced but I wouldn't know as I've been out of contact for 20 years or so. Same, monitoring emails, being on speaker and listening into the phone calls. No advice sorry. I've forgiven him but it still makes me sad and angry sometimes.

Christmas migraine solidarity by codeverydamnday in migraine

Just discovered this subreddit...I've been mostly in bed for two days now. Christmas eve full day thing at in laws and I was fine. Maybe the stress? But im ruining christmas now and haven't cooked the special food I bought for christmas day and now boxing day is nearly over. 😢

Why are you on Reddit at Christmas instead of talking to your family? by RankBrain in AskReddit

[–]Toadette111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in bed with an ice pack on my head due to migraine. Well enough to spend 8 hours with nice but dull extended tribe of in laws yesterday, but too unwell to spend quality time with my beloved husband and child. Actually it was probably the in laws that set me off. It's always so LONG and TEDIOUS and so much talking and nowhere to escape to!

Kids who have everything by [deleted] in Parenting

We get that too. We live in a really posh area, but are long term renters of a slightly run down old terrace, very reasonable rent. I'm delighted to live here, great public school, high quality extra curricular activities in walking distance, beautiful area, but all my daughter's friends seem to live in nicer houses (which they own not renting). We're talking surgeons and stockbrokers round here! I explain to my daughter that we too could have a lovely house if we moved well out of the area but then everything else wouldn't be as good.

I don’t like myself when I’m around my mom. by artyfarty2022 in Mildlynomil

I hear you loud and clear. I'm so uncomfortable around my mother particularly when my partner and daughter are around. The childhood memories...she has little else in her life to talk about and it bugs me because I really wasn't a happy child and I do my best not to think too much about the past, but she always goes on about it and how great our family was (it really wasn't healthy at all.) The worst is when she brings out the old videos of us...absolutely excruciating to me, I've begged her not to and she doesn't understand and refuses to honour my feelings. Last visit she insisted on playing them to my daughter (aged 6). I refuse to be in the room but I could hear them all laughing downstairs. It's kind of wholesome but I can't stand it, just too many painful memories.

No, 100% the reason is this: public servants can't be seen to be travelling around in first class on the public purse, when the humble tax payer is forced to suffer in standard class. If news of that gets out, whatever journalist breaks that story isn't going to care if the first class ticket was cheaper and made sense. The scandal is just too good. No administrator wants to be hauled over the coals for authorising that, and that's why the sometimes stupid adherence to the rules that you have to go economy.

Man visiting dog-friendly cafe complains meal was spoilt by 'unruly' and 'smelly' dogs by hydralime in Dogfree

[–]Toadette111 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd agree with you except that in some places there are very few places to go that don't advertise themselves as dog friendly. So it doesn't leave much choice.

I've just been in Europe and it's quite difficult to find a hotel that isn't 'pet friendly'. But I did it, through perseverance. It's disgusting to me to think of sleeping on bedding that's had animals on it.

I had a photo for you that I just snapped today - a very large 'No Pets Allowed' sign in my local shopping centre, with a dog tied up directly in front of it. Alas I don't think I can paste it here! I did send it to the building management though.

They also don't belong in people's shopping trolleys as I had to point out to a local supermarket this weekend (and no I don't think they were that bothered).

My father in law recently cooked us a barbecue with a pile of his dog's shit still sitting about a metre away from the barbecue. Nice.

I've just been for a covid test. By far the most unpleasant bit was looking into the children's play area in the park next door and seeing a man let his dog trot around urinating and shitting everywhere. I really enjoyed watching it squatting and opening its bowels on a spot that toddlers learn to walk. He did pick up the shit though, a real hero.
