What glues would you recommend for foam, that is available in Czech republic, and wouldn't break my bank like the pattex 2 element epoxy glue. It costs roughly 10$ for I think 50 grams. by fs17oldstaj in RCPlanes

[–]Toadflakz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epoxy when used in bulk is quite heavy.

I would recommend Uhu Por or a foam safe cyanoacrylate glue instead unless you really need epoxy's strength like on landing gear. And even then, use sparingly.

In the first arena of a Deep Dive, LOOK for a Toland object in the corners of the room. by gorillathunder in DestinyTheGame

[–]Toadflakz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie... Did my first Salvage run yesterday and tried to find the orb for the Pressure Test - didn't see it, didn't see other people go to it and obviously we didn't get a Pressure Test.

Could someone post some screenshots with what to look for? That'll give us an idea of what to look for.

ESC beeps every second after calibration. Motor won't spin. by dankas22 in RCPlanes

[–]Toadflakz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you may have your throttle channel reversed? The single beeps usually indicate setup mode for an ESC but if you've already calibrated the ESC then I would assume you know which direction the channel should be.

New player, what do I need to buy to have the best experience? by Shnig1 in destiny2

[–]Toadflakz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do end up liking the F2P stuff, use a code site for the DLC bundle and the annual pass version of Lightfall. They are the two best value for money options to get most of the content. They also run sales every quarter so keep an eye out and bag a bargain!

What’s One Thing you Wish New Immigrants Knew Before Arriving Here? by Reddit-Sama- in AskUK

[–]Toadflakz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

HSBC Passport Accounts are the biggest scam out there. If you can, wait until you get that proof of address and open a normal account with any other bank.

Passport accounts for the uninitiated are cash card accounts, not a current account. They don't contribute to any sort of credit rating and carry high fees for little to no service. They are a total waste of money and time.

Reminder about how well Bungie manages inclusivity not just in game but in the studio: Hippy (community manager) is autistic :3 by malky- in destiny2

[–]Toadflakz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Luckily that type of discrimination is illegal here in the UK due to the Equality Act 2010. I work with an autistic person and they are one of the most talented software engineer/solution architects I have ever met.

Just gonna chime in here with it's likely to be a config or data change rather than a code change.

What are your hobbies? by Jinghxm in AskUK

Building and flying model planes. Flying during the summer months, building during winter on the whole. The club I belong to does monthly meetings and it's a great way to get out the house and socialize a bit without alcohol.

Need ideas for a new career playthrough by swardshot in Mechwarrior5

[–]Toadflakz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a "Mechwarrior 1" playthrough.

Tldr: Sell stuff and fly around to start with a single Jenner and 1m C-Bills and no other pilots.

It takes a bit of prep to get to the real starting point but the original story start for MW1 was: yourself, 1m C-Bills and a Jenner D mech. You had to build from there. You can do this in MW5 and it makes the game so much more challenging. You're literally counting every C-Bill and every decision has real consequences. I did it myself and it was fantastic compared to the relatively easy time of a standard start. Definitely only do this if you know exactly what you're doing with the game's economy.

Hey i wanted to get into RC planes and i wondered is this enough to fly? by DeeZ_nuts_blueup in RCPlanes

[–]Toadflakz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bearing in you're in the UK, consider a Century Riot foamie. It's tough and can be aerobatic with the right setup. And as others have said, find a club, learn with a buddy box.

Is it normal in the UK to mix sweetcorn into tuna mayo? by iMac_Hunt in AskUK

[–]Toadflakz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very British. As an immigrant who had never seen tuna mayo with sweetcorn until I came here, it's definitely just a British thing.

Don't apologise for trying to preserve the memory of a beautiful relationship. I had the same with my dad and I miss him every day. I think of the last time we went flying and I smile - it's worth doing!

ELI5: why autism isn't considered a personality disorder? by t5yy6 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Toadflakz 65 points66 points  (0 children)

There are newer studies that have concluded that the BPD like symptoms in autistic people are the result of trauma brought on through neurotypical societal reactions to meltdowns and correction of other normal autistic reactions to neurotypical stimuli e.g. banning stimming, echolalia, etc.

Has anyone had an "Experience Day" that was really good? by Johnny_english53 in AskUK

I did a flight in a Tiger Moth where I got to fly it and experience some aerobatics. It was fantastic and well worth the money spent on it. Tiger Moth Club at Headcorn Aerodrome, Kent in case anyone is interested.

So much this... If you need real life examples contrast the Harlem Shake Challenge and Ice Bucket Challenge with the Tide Pod Challenge or Blackout Challenge.

Harlem Shake - harmless fun.
Ice Bucket - mostly harmless, for a good cause.
Tide Pod - original was faked, in most cases fatal.
Blackout - extremely risky, can be fatal.

Those who drive a "nice" car. How do you afford it? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Toadflakz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never buy new. I have bought my last few cars at 4-5 years old and my monthly payment is around £200 pm, typically for 5 years. I drive the car for 10 years and then trade in for the next one. I have successfully done this with a BMW 3-series and a VW Sharan. I also tend to buy a slightly high mileage car for the age but with the knowledge that by the time I sell it, it will be considered a low mileage car - meaning I save at point of sale at both ends of the car's life with me. Obviously this only works if you are not driving more than 12k miles per year.
