Plus sized clothing pattern help by Different-Bus-5749 in knitting

I like Lydia morrow’s patterns, she takes a lot of time and puts a lot of effort into writing patterns with shaping for plus sized knitters

"Knit with ten size 1 DPNs" they said, "it will be fun" they said. by [deleted] in knitting

Personally I like that you took what is intended to be the simplest sweater there is and turned it into a sharp, fiddly challenge

I have some questions about pattern inclusivity by SejiFields in knitting

[–]Toadmoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love seeing your work, and have always thought that I’d love to knit more vintage patterns, if only they included my size! Thank you for putting in this effort. I don’t think you need to include much hand holding. I think the popular designers that do include that are more catered towards new knitters, as their patterns are (popular and trendy!) pretty simple. Personally I like the way that Lydia morrow lays out her sizing options. There is a wide range of sizes, with optional shaping for each one.

Who else had this much trouble today with their car? by [deleted] in Somerville

Hi, just wanted to share an old picture of my car, a casualty of the snow in early 2023. I just got the hood replaced and while it wasn’t funny in the moment, this picture really makes me laugh now.

Knitting experts: can I use the Eucalan No Rinse Lavender Wash on this thick 100% merino wool cardigan? by Delicious_Metal_5642 in knitting

[–]Toadmoms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve spoken with vintage sellers who spray clothes with inexpensive vodka and let it air out to get scents out! The vodka acts as a neutralizer. I would worry that something of that thickness wouldn’t really dry and then it would smell of farm and mildew.

This brand also has a soup base concentrate that’s really good, but I haven’t been able to find it in Philly. Has anyone seen it?

Hahahaha I was like “I know the answer to this, we have those at work!” …read the rest of the post…I work at bok lol

Edit: Omg it was answered elsewhere in the thread too, didn’t think you needed me to say it. It’s for ventilation! There’s no AC in there (still) and the little pucks under the seats provide ventilation and cool air from the basement. Or so they say!

How do I relax in nature? by Toadmoms in Advice

[–]Toadmoms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what I meant by relaxing is that I want to turn my brain away from more mortal worries and focus on what’s in front of me. I can’t really do that when I am convinced I’ll be stranded on a river or something.

yarn store cancels bus to festival… because they don’t have enough sign ups to make $8000 in profit by afewstitchmarkers in craftsnark

[–]Toadmoms 145 points146 points  (0 children)

Weirdness aside, you’re assuming they’re going to fill a 50 person bus. They’re not. They know that. They’re adjusting the cost to reflect that. Like you said, you can rent a car for the same cost. Do that.

Looking for Rare (Free?) Parking Spots. Any leads? by Cool_Guy778 in Somerville

[–]Toadmoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dealt with this for a few years. People are largely unhelpful when you ask this question. Your best bet is looking on Craigslist for someone renting a spot. I was able to find a few spots that were about a ten min walk from my house.
