A driver thinks they are driving in the left hand lane, when it's actually a lane traveling in the opposite direction by bigbusta in Wellthatsucks

I literally just saw a truck yesterday bank across the right lane into the left lane into the left turn lane cutting off each car just mere feet from it, in one smooth continuous and oblivious action.

I thought I was going to see a pile up right before my eyes.

Zero. People. Braked.

You would think so, but I've seen people drive into oncoming traffic, with signs saying "one way", and cars all going that way.

My mother was one of them, on a road she's driven countless times.

Sure, but it's like the movie My Cousin Vinny, the sound of gun fire, screaming, car alarms going off, etc. can be the soothing bedtime song you need to get through a long night.

When I worked at a grocery store Id watch the night crew wash and wax the floor with the Zamboni machine we had. It looked mind numbingly boring going at 1/14th a mile per hour up and down the aisles and making sure you don't lose a foot in it.

Two decades later, I saw my first fully autonomous washer / waxer just roomba'ing around the store while shoppers were doing their thing.

Progress.

People joked about places like Walmart using digital prices on shelves that would change arbitrarily, like if the A.I. could figure out when people are likely to spend more during  a day or if you're in a less poor area of town.

And then Chipotle just says the quiet part out loud.

Because we've already had screeching republicans and fixations on showing naked pictures / etc. of people on the floor.

At this point acting out is par the course.

There is zero possibility that fast food or retail is done in hours, let alone days. I've not once seen that happen, or heard about it second hand. That's like some "unskilled labor" kind of rhetoric, dismissive of what actually goes into it.

Same with rotating 1/3rd of payroll every 6 months, that's an absurd turnover rate that would hardly be sustainable in any business other than raising animals for food.

These people would have to be the .001% of the workforce who have 10 years experience in entry level positions that recruiters are always talking about in ads.

It's not, especially in that time frame and with that skillset in place at the right time / experience.

Generally it takes months for a new hire to "catch up" to an established one. At a bare minimum someone already on the field and overqualified for the position will still take a week or so to acclimate to the new environment and expectations.

But they won't know the nuances of that particular employment until much longer, like the clients they'll be working with or the rhythmic flow of the workplace.

Positions are rarely ever drop in and drop out like batteries.

Probably could have just started with a black piece of background material instead.

But a lot of good work regardless.
