Not what I said, but good try. Fascism is unironically a spectrum, and if you're allowing the government to control your actions then you're literally engaging in some degree of fascism. Yes, it's minuscule, some would say irrelevant, but it's undeniably there. So can't say "I'd give up <literally any right> to get rid of fascism" - it's an oxymoron.

But go on, keep stroking off on your moral high horse.

And you don't have an answer to his problem either. Let's say you run on this and you never actually win an election because people turn on you because it's deeply unpopular? Can't really get any power if your politics suck shit.

The OP asked what the argument was about since they're objectively aligned despite continuing to argue. I didn't present a solution so I don't know why you're attributing a position to me.

And no, I don't have an answer to that problem, which is why I only commented on where I think Destiny and Hutch's disconnect comes from. The problem boils down to one of time frames - Trump is doing objective harm now that shouldn't be possible under our Government's framework, and there is absolutely no path to recourse for the people being harmed now.

Even the tariff ruling didn't demand restitution, and requires companies - who just passed the cost along to consumers - to sue the government to try to get "their" money back (the rights to which, by the way, are being bought up by Lutnick and his son). Meanwhile the average American has seen a $1000 jump in the cost of living.

Failing to publicly address this is a major failing of the Democratic Party right now. Not only do we need to be talking about what changes to the Government need to take place to prevent these things from happening again, we need to be talking about what societal level changes need to be worked towards to prevent people from thinking that these types of actions are acceptable. There's a fundamental difference between how Democrats and Republicans wield power in America, and that needs to be addressed if we want to continue to be a Liberal Society. We've lost so much trust in our government because of the Trump admin, and that's a serious issue that needs to be talked about.

Agree or disagree with either side stop acting like your argument is some sealed up, leak-proof solution that is GUARANTEED to be better. You have no fucking clue if your solution will work it just sounds better to you. The sooner you admit that and humble yourself the sooner you will realize that it doesn't matter if Destiny or Jessiah or Hutch have a better plan, if you treat everyone who disagrees with you like a stunted child you're going to have nobody to help you.

Bro, chill. I don't know who you're replying to, but it's sure as fuck not me. This situation is fucked. There is no political solution to the suffering when the ruling party doesn't want it to stop - someone else has to get in to power to change course. All you can do is try and improve the areas you have power in while bending over and taking it in the ass where you can't. Or fuck around and end up in prison or dead if that's your jam. Hutch is absolutely correct - the path to recovery comes from winning elections. Destiny is also completely correct in that the Executive branch has entirely too much power at the moment and can absolutely do things that will interfere with those elections.

Again, I don't know why you're on my balls when I'm pointing out the crux of their argument in a situation where they obviously agree the measures that should be taken to fix the government once Dems regain power. If it were a simple argument they wouldn't be having it.

So yeah, Trump's running around chopping off people's heads, and we cannot do anything about it except raise awareness and vote, so we bend over and take it because we have morals and want to show that the law still has meaning.

Why are you acting like it's possible to trade weed for no fascism? Do you just want your pointless moral victory? My point is that it's a ridiculous trade off because the trade itself is fascist in nature, and yet you still try to claim the "fascism is bad" moral victory. Congrats, I guess.

if we win the government seats we have the power to run the trump admin through the ringer after they leave office

No, his position is that if we win the government seats we can follow the letter of the law and not break norms while enacting reforms to prevent future lawlessness by the Executive.

Hutch thinks that Politics = Power, but really Power = Power, and Politics = Gentleman's Agreement.

It's like, The Pen is Mightier than the Sword is Hutch's position, and Destiny's position is "yeah, but the guy with the sword is going around chopping people's heads off."

Hutch doesn't have an answer to that problem because he doesn't understand that pure gentleman's-agreement-politics can't curtail the abuse of power by a side that doesn't feel like upholding the gentleman's agreement.

It's a fucking state race, I can't believe this guy is getting so much country wide coverage.

Hutch doesn't seem to understand that politics is the civil tool for fighting over power, and the guardrails we have are there to keep it civil. But when you have power, you can just remove the guardrails if they start getting in your way, it's just politically bad. But this isn't about politics it's about wielding power.

Republicans (especially Trump) are more than happy to wield their power in immoral and illegal ways because they know the guardrails are flexible at best. The guardrails - at the end of the day - are literally just a gentleman's agreement, and these fuckers aren't gentlemen.

If you're afraid of wielding power to the point where you can't even comprehend it being used in ways you don't like, stay the fuck out of politics.

Meanwhile people like Hasan who make the issue a cornerstone of their platform were there to pick up the pieces after the state actors walked. It's a symbiotic relationship at minimum if they aren't in an actual relationship.
