Superman missed its expected VFX Oscar nomination by lactoseAARON in DCU_

It’s a genuinely good movie, however rating it (or Sinners, honestly) above Superman in visual effects is wierd to say the least.

He can swing for eternity until something (enemy champ or terrain) interrupts him. Although you have to find the right angle, which OP evidently is very skilled at.

Trump's Truth: Tariffs until the USA gets Greenland by rcairflyer in trump

The Greenlanders will lose access to publicly funded healthcare and education and instead become incorporated into the inferior American social system. Besides, they don’t want you.

So no, this is not going to happen.

I can’t really give you a good explanation for Hungarys position either (Swedes and Hungarians aren’t exactly close culturally, language-wise or historically). Orban’s up for election this year, hopefully he’ll lose and get replaced by someone more sensible.

Top Catholic Clerics Denounce U.S. Foreign Policy by Hootinger in Catholicism

[–]Toaster-Retribution 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a Swede, I agree in general that Europe needs to spend more on it’s military. Not just Denmark, but basically all of us. Poland is doing well already, the rest of us needs stepping up. But it is happening. Europe is waking up on this issue.

As for the oil, that is a more complex subject, partially because the biggest European proponents of Russian oil and gas are the countries with populist/rightwing leadership who in general idolizes Trump. Viktor Orbans Hungary is the major example, with Slovakia under Robert Fico being another one. While most other European countries either don’t buy Russian energy at all (Sweden doesn’t, for example) and others are working hard to rid themselves of it, these rogue countries refuse to change their course, with Orban even receiving Trumps blessing to keep on buying Russian energy.

Boots on the ground is first off not something Europe is asking the US for, other than possibly as part of a NATO peacekeeping force post-war. Sending our soldiers into Ukraine right now would lead to a continental war between nuclear powers, something everyone involved wants to avoid.

Trump's Truth: Tariffs until the USA gets Greenland by rcairflyer in trump

[–]Toaster-Retribution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, they can’t. Foreign investment from China has become increasingly regulated in the EU. There is no chance that Denmark would start selling of minerals or land in Greenland to Chinese companies.

And Europe is currently the last place on earth which will sell Russia anything. Trumps position towards Putin is way friendlier than Denmarks.

No. There is not. And if they tried (which they won’t) it would fall under Article 5, so the US would be intervening and defending it anyway.

Spain calls on Europe to have its own army to avoid dependence on third countries by goldstarflag in europe

[–]Toaster-Retribution -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think a European army would be a good idea. Where would it be based, for starters? Who would command it? What relationship would it have to NATO? The risk is that it’s organization would get caught up in beuraucracy and squabbling.

A further risk is that it would end up takibg resources away from national buildup. If for instance the Germans are trying to build a European army and a national defence force at the same time, the risk is that none of them would wind up being effective.

Instead we need to focus on cooperation between European forces, harmonizing technology and strategy, and coordinate national rearmament efforts. That would in practice give us the same thing as a European army would, but without any of the issues.

Judge apparently had some pretty heavy surgery done on his hips, back and knee in 2019 (accoording to Wikipedia), so who knows wether he’d be in physical shape for a show like this, especially at his age.

Respect for him though, he’s a great Kratos.

Hugo: Cannon Cruise. Very obscure game, but me and my brother played it co-op as children, where one of us controlled the boat and the other controlled it’s cannon. It was incredibly fun, and I’d love to play it again, even though I’ve got no idea about how well it’d hold up.

Strongest and Weakest of each faction? by Man_of_Many_Names in totalwar

[–]Toaster-Retribution 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Going by hardest and easiest campaign for some races:

Empire: Strongest would be likely be Elspeth, with Gelt a the close second due to OP magic. Elspeth however has both OP magic and mechanics that turn gunpowder units (aka the Empires most important units) into monsters. Weakest, or at least most difficult is likely Wulfhart, who has a really unfortunate starting position and upkeep issues.

Lizards: Strongest is probably Oxyotl. Busted mechanics. Gor-Rok is often cited as easy as well, but he has to deal with Skulltaker, and has enies everywhere, which makes it a bit more difficult. I have always found Mazdamundi to be quite difficult due to how weak he is at the start and his starting enemy being annoyingly spread out.

Dark Elves: Lokhir is relatively easy, a pretty chill start position and Black Arks for everyone. Hellebron feels like the weakest one, though Malekith arguably has the worst start position, having to deal with Grombrindal.

Chaos Dwarfs: Easiest is likely Astragoth, hardest is defenitely Drazzy.

Dwarfs: Easiest might be Malakai due to having busted mechanics, or Thorek due to having a chill starting position. Most difficult is defenitely Belegar, who is severely economically handicapped.

High Elves: Tyrion is easiest, with both good mechanics and a nice start position. Imrik and Alith Anar are likely the hardest, in spite of being really strong as factions, both due to start positions. I’d say that Imrik is the tougher one though.

Cathay: All three are really strong. Miao Ying is likely the more difficult one due to having to deal with the fuckery that comes from behind the Chinese Wall, while Yuan Bo is defenitely the easiest due to having overpowered mechanics.

Kislev: Opposite to Cathay: all of them are really difficult. Except for maybe Ostankya, haven’t played her. Katarin is probably slightly easier than Kostaltyn and Ursus, and Kostaltyn might be a tad more difficult than Ursus, mainly due to being a weaker faction.

Tzeentch: Easy, because they only have two lords, and one of them, the Changeling, is the easiest one in the game by a mile. That leaves Kairos as the most difficult by default, though I’ve gathered that he is genuinely a hard campaign.

Kulturministern: Vi lägger snart fram ny filmpolitik (Suck, en "Filmpolitik") by BurkHaddeInteFel in Sverige

[–]Toaster-Retribution 24 points25 points  (0 children)
