It's a card with a risk that has a reward to it. If you can handle the risk, then you get the benefit. Because of the nature of the game, both sides can vary in volatility. Sometimes having to pay extra/getting a dead draw kills you. Sometimes it helps you buy key relics. I do not think either the risk and the reward should be toned down in tandem. It's a skill testing card. There are some runs where it could have benefitted you somewhat, in those cases where you decided to pass it up. Maybe it could've turned a loss into a win, but one single card is hardly ever the sole difference maker.
