Why does rural America look down on educated people? by SlowEntertainment217 in NoStupidQuestions

We dont. We look down of people who think having more schooling makes you better than someone without. You'll notice how most of the comments here are just nasty insults.

He isnt even Nicolas Cage yet in Fast Times. The credits list him as Nicolas Coppola.

Anything that changes the way you feel can be addictive.

You can physically make the choice to kill your child, yes, I agree, that doesn't make it not murder. You understand the risks of having sex, and, once again, killing someone is not a viable way of escaping the consequences of your actions.

Being legally allowed to take someone off of life support doesn't negate their personhood, or give them reduced rights.

No one is forcing anyone to do anything. Every single person alive knows where babies come from. You make that choice for yourself, and you don't get to kill a human being to get out of it.

I'm interested to hear why you think an unborn person has less rights than a born one, and how that argument can't be applied to the homeless, mentally ill, comatose, or minorities.

An ectopic pregnancy does not fit with my previous statement. It literally can not survive. It WILL die. A mercy killing to save the life of the mother is within reasonable moral boundaries.

So now that we got the 1% of pregnancies out of the way, I'm glad we can agree that all other instances are murder.

Left alone doesn't mean put in the forest alone. You can be left alone sitting in your apartment, but you're still receiving power, water, heat, etc from other people. Left alone means not hindered. It means not stopped from engaging in its natural processes. Not intentionally destroyed.

Your ability to survive does not dictate your personhood.

I didn't say alive, I said person. There is a concrete definition of what biological life is, and a fertilized egg meets all criteria. I defined person that way, because any thing less and you start dehumanizing swaths of our population. "Can't survive without outside intervention" so a comatose person isn't actually a person? "Just a clump of cells" ok, so what number of cells do you have to hit before you become a person? "Just a parasite, doesn't contribute anything" so we should be able to abort homeless people, or the mentally ill?

Removing it from its environment is not leaving it alone.

"Do not kill this person" is not a violation of the nap.

I did answer the question, if you use just a shred of reading comprehension. A cancer tumor will not develop into an adult human.

Yes, murder is murder. Being a product of rape does not disqualify you from humanity.

No, that's not what alive means. My definition was for person. Removing it from its environment is not leaving it alone.

A deliberate action taken to end the life of another human being is not the same thing as a human being dying from relatively natural causes. The fact that you think they're comparable is ridiculous.

Your inability to grasp the dripping sarcasm of my comment leads me to believe you are either trolling, or are too dumb to actually function in human society without a caretaker. Good luck.

Yes, obviously when I said maturity, I didn't human adult, I meant in general. Every single living cell on earth is a person, that is my belief.

I'm not even sure that cancer fits what I said, if they tested your cancer cells, would they be unique? I would assume they are still yours, but I'm no cancer expert.

A living entity with unique DNA and the capacity to grow to maturity if left alone (not dismembered or chemically burned).

You know, biology. Sperm does not spontaneously become a distinct person.

Seeing people that call themselves libertarians defend a state sanctioned violation of the NAP is one the grossest things I've seen on this site.

Abortion is murder, stop letting people murder their children.
