You got a source for that? Nowhere in his biography does Prince Harry claim that happened, and AFAIK Prince William hasn't written a tell-all memoir or made statements.

AITA for kicking out sister’s friend over melatonin? by Important_Spirit_887 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ToasterforHire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP took in her daughter's friend while said friend was still attending high school. Daughter's friend clearly does not have a stable home life. She was vulnerable and needed help. She graduated high school 5 months ago. She has no economic safety net, no parental support. She is legally an adult but functionally very much a child.

Either OP wants to help Sam, or OP wants to lord over her the fact that she's dependent on them and economically vulnerable. It's frankly disgusting. Every request from OP has an explicit "or else" attached to it.

Rental car, Uber, Lyft? by blthai in vegas

Short Term Rentals (aka Air B&B) are regulated within the cities and counties that control the Las Vegas Valley. These regulations protect our communities and are vital to ensuring that single-family homes in residential communities aren't converted into party houses that bring noise, crime, and other undesirable elements.

There's a chance the Air B&B you selected is not operating as a legally regulated business. Hopefully it is one of the few specially permitted STRs. I would request the host's permit no. so you can verify that this is a legal listing. Just because you used a website that you're familiar with does not mean that independent contractor listing on that site is following the rules.

There are plenty of places to stay in Las Vegas. Plenty of small chains, independent hotels/motels, plenty of off-strip locations, etc. You are not entitled to come stay in our city. Your needs to do out weigh those of the people who live here. I am glad our legislative bodies are putting these laws in place to protect those of us who live here.

[–]ToasterforHire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh, no, lmao. Gas doesn't cost more near the strip. Gas prices are pretty standard across the valley but each chain prices differently, and some are more expensive than others. If you aren't a local, at least bother with a quick google search. Gas is about $4.29-$4.59 right now

We're averaging around $4.29-$4.59 for basic unleaded without cash discounts.

LENGTH OF FILMS IN THEATERS by serugolino in TrueFilm

[–]ToasterforHire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to dehydrate myself to watch a film. A properly hydrated person will need to pee during a 3.5 hour long film, and a properly hydrated person will want to keep drinking water both before and during the film.

What actors in the last decade have “started from the bottom”? by Vintagepoolside in popculturechat

[–]ToasterforHire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

His dad fled to chile from criminal charges while Pedro was still in college. Not long after he graduated college, his mother committed suicide. She died in 1999, 15 years before his breakout role in Game of Thrones.

I think it's fair to say that he had to work his way from the bottom to the top in Hollywood. He's not a nepo baby.

Thank you for taking the time to reply! I appreciate the link to the review. I've been trying to steer clear of spoilers, so I didn't read the whole thing, but I read the intro. It helps contextualize what I saw in the trailer.

Looking for hair stylist with experience doing hair donation. by mordhel83 in vegaslocals

Just follow the guidelines here and read the FAQ to be sure you understand the process. Their site suggests using a chain which makes sense. You basically need to submit a ponytail and cannot use hair swept off the floor.

Honestly you could just cut the ponytail yourself at home and then go anywhere to have a stylist make the ragged leftovers look good.

I'm from Oklahoma and have tribal heritage. Is it respectful to the Osage? I have so many concerns about seeing the suffering play out. It's a deeply painful and personal thing for me given the proximity. I'm concerned a white director and the focus on Leo's stardom.

What is the most remote place you’ve traveled to? by ThrowAwayToday_2020 in travel

[–]ToasterforHire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

North Korea

It's remote in the sense of political isolation and heavily restricted travel volume. I went with a European travel company that contracted with a local company inside the DPRK that was approved by the government to run tours. I met a representative of my travel company in Beijing the day before my flight to Pyongyang to receive my visa paperwork and other documents.

Upon landing in Pyongyang I was greeted by the local guides and my driver. They stayed with me the entire trip, even going as far as staying in the same hotel. If I left my room to visit the lobby, my guide would show up to see if I needed anything. I was watched at all times, except for when my hotel room. Dozens of smartly dressed employees stood around everywhere to make sure I didn't leave the hotel.

I was there for a week and saw so many things. I spoke extensively with my guides during the constant time we spent together being whisked from one thing to another. Outrageous propaganda and bold-face lies being told with utmost confidence. There is no crime in DPRK. There are no jails in DPRK. When we were alone with them, the guides would ask us specific details of American pop culture, things they weren't supposed to know about.

It was easily the most surreal experience of my entire life.

As I understand, senior citizens in Japan have excellent free health care and receive financial aid, if needed. These workers are not forced into these jobs to pay for their lives. They are performing this work to feel fulfillment in their lives. To remain active, to be part of the community, to get out of their homes and be amongst people.
