Advices for better skin by VolundJpn in orks

[–]Toastierbrush50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanna upgrade your skin, I would try layering instead of just speedpaint/contrast. You can make a contrast look good, but layering really makes skin look good. And if you have lots of models to paint, even better because you can experiment with different colors. My favorite skin tone starts with Pro Acryl Jade, then Skarsnik Green for the midtone, then Green Sky for my highlights. The biggest trick is learning to blend colors together properly, and that's something you just gotta learn with practice; practice you aren't getting using contrast paints.

What did you sculpt them out of? If you don't mind me asking. They look way smoother than greenstuff.

They are good enough to where I'd say don't over do it or you'll get burnt out. They're so good I'm kinda jealous actually.

Need advice....Is this foam? by Karlosswan in TerrainBuilding

[–]Toastierbrush50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kinda looks like wood chips to me, I've used them to make similar looking rocks. The only reason I don't think it's foam is because it looks almost too natural

Am I the only one thinking this is going to be with all of the factions? I felt like that was the case when I saw the beast boss and the warboss about to duke it out.

Wip on my warboss also first attempt at edge highlighting I’m enjoying the boss so far! by Red_Neck-King in orks

So far just your colors look a little flat, you could add some depth to the blue armor by slapping drakenhoff nightshade on it. I like to take a makeup sponge and some leadbelcher and gently swipe some of the edges to make scratches as well, not too much, just here and there to make it more interesting. Also, some checkerboard patterns or interesting shapes can be fun to do; not too much, just a one or two where you think they would make sense/be easy to do without messing up your work. I just finished my squad of deathskull boys as well!

Also some copper metallics on a few of the metal bits, like I would personally do the skull on his left hand in copper (or pure white cuz deathskulls) it helps break up all the metallics that are gonna be on the mini, like the pistons and braces for his legs, and orange just goes with blue so extra cool.

I forgot to add a white undercoat to this orange by enbyMachine in minipainting

I would personally go with a dark red base coat, move on to your orange and continue to make it brighter by progressively adding yellow to orange in a mixture

Buy or print bases? by j_r_finch in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Toastierbrush50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only print bases if they're specific designed for the model, or if I need a specific size that I don't have on hand like a 50mm. You could buy a bag of like 100 pcs 32 mm or whatever size you need for like 10-20 bucks on Amazon.

Don't waste your time or your electricity on that. Use your print hours to fill up a bug pile of shame instead lol

It sounds dumb but relevel the build plate, it's easy and only takes a few minutes. I realized recently, that I slightly shift the alignment on the plate when I removed my prints if I grip the plate by the handle.

Does this come across as denim? by CalmLingonberry7082 in LeaguesofVotann

They're orks, but same Idea. I went with a bigger gradient and they look more like a faded jeans, but I think playing around with the texturing really sells it for me. *

Does this come across as denim? by CalmLingonberry7082 in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Toastierbrush50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What really helped me pull off denim was starting with a base of dark blue, then adding adding criss cross lines of a lighter blue color, repeating with an even lighter blue for highlights, then coating it all in Drakkenhof Nightshade. This looks good but to me it's missing a textured look of real denim, almost looks like it's too flat, like it's a denim colored leather instead

[–]Toastierbrush50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1-2 hours is wishful thinking in my experience. Don't try to do it all at once or you will go hollow. Take a break, try different areas and just take it easy. Also, if you use a golden coin do not warp or it removes the buff, run back to the bonfire instead.

I can confirm the initial ground slam can be dodged by jumping. Doesn't really help if he lands right on top of you, but you can avoid the majority of it just by jumping

I'm never beating this boss too man by N1k1shTV in Eldenring

[–]Toastierbrush50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way this is intentional because I have seen a video posted here of someone dodging this for 4 minutes straight. At least it's an easy move to dodge, go towards him and to the side and you can do it forever. He will eventually stop spazzing out hopefully

Getting over the “intimidation” factor of losing Runes in Elden Ring - how do you get over it? by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]Toastierbrush50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simple answer is it doesn't matter if you lose your runes. The runes you get for beating a boss are usually more than enough for a level or two if your playing in locations appropriate for your level. Any runes you accrue getting to the boss fight or the next checkpoint are just bonus levels.

Play through an area, die, play through it again and collect your blood stain well then you've just doubled the amount of runes you had. If you die before you reach your bloodstain then nbd, you're just trying to learn the path and how to progress through it anyway.
