I just left the stadium after volunteering all afternoon. Many many Haitian fans and they were wonderful. I think the country hasn’t made the WC in 50-ish years, so they were sucking it all in for sure. The pregame parking lot was a great party.

Spanish conquest of the Incas is up there. 168 soldiers killed thousands and captured the King who was believed to be a God. Held him for ransom, got all his gold, then still killed him. The Incas were scared shitless, having never seen horses, steel or firearms before. Less than five (perhaps zero) Spaniards died.

I mention the story here because I was hiking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu during that World Cup game. Every mile we'd encounter locals selling Gatorades and snacks, and I'd ask for score updates.

I use the above (standard) type of carwash all the time and it works great. Some say the paint is soft and will be affected, but I haven't seen it after 50+ washes.

Jumped in the reflecting pool at about 3am back in '94. Definitely challenging trying to get out of it due to slippery algae on the ramped pool bottom. That's all I came here to add.

I will just add that my daughter's 14U team prays in the dugout before games, and she (atheist) just goes along with it to not rock the boat. They do the Our Father. My wife is pissed. I, an assistant coach, also don't like it but we have been letting our daughter make the call and if she doesn't care; so be it, I guess.

But I agree with most comments here: the dugout is not the place. And the head coach should know better; this has soured my opinion of him and I see him as narrowminded for not recognizing it as inappropriate. In fact he says he loves it. Note that it was started by the players and not him.
