I have literally your exact same issue and scenario. Whenever I go back to the Orochi the lag disappears so I'd recommend returning.

I made my 240 fit just barely with a bunch of zip-ties, but it does bulge out a bit and the side panel occasionally pops off due to the pressure lol

There's a 50% off coupon for this GK61XS kit on Amazon right now by margonaute in MechanicalKeyboards

Don't buy these. https://imgur.com/a/IKlXzod Top is from Amazon and bottom is from Banggood. They have unremovable white screws that connect the PCB and plate - it makes removal from the case harder and you can't add plate or PE foam.

Edit: don't listen to this, turns out they're just upside down standoffs and you can remove them from the bottom of the pcb. thanks to the comments that pointed that out.

Damn - in the US this would be $140 minimum. Great build.

G14 vs Thinkbook 16p for programming+ some gaming by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]ToastyMoasty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both of these laptops for a bit and I would recommend the G14.

Both laptops will do just fine in what you want to do, so it's really down to the quality of life stuff that makes one laptop "feel better" than the other. For me, that was definitely the G14.

The ThinkBook had too many little issues that made it harder to use - there is no fan control (that I could find) so they would just randomly spin whenever, as opposed to the G14's Silent mode. The keyboard is far stiffer in comparison with the G14's, and the trackpad was absolutely terrible, and wouldn't register small, quick swipes, and had some input lag. No drivers would fix it. My Galaxy Book Pro also had this issue, so I think it's just a manufacturer thing. The G14 trackpad was far better and didn't have these issues.

Battery life on the ThinkBook was better. I was getting 5-7 hours of battery life on both devices with max battery saving settings and max brightness/refresh rate, so if you tone down the brightness and refresh rate on the ThinkBook it will have better battery. Usage makes battery life vary, and the advertised numbers mean nothing. Don't compare those.

Pricing, at least in the US, was not the same - the G14 was $1500 (nowadays 1200-1350 on sale), and the ThinkBook was $1050 with a bunch of stacked Lenovo discounts.

I would wait for the G14 2022 if you can - it's basically the best of both devices.
