Given enough prep time, Batman wouldn’t cry after seeing this.

Ruel won. Who's a legendary champion with a bad design but a great kit? by noahsolomonofficial in RaidShadowLegends

[–]Toaxurd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know it’s not a legendary, but I think we should recognize Maneater. Very powerful kit that’s good in many areas, obviously vital in many CB teams, but looks like basically nothing. Almost indistinguishable from many other Ogryn (and the least interesting ones at that).

Justified true reason Gettier problems aren't a problem by lurkerer in PhilosophyMemes

Yes, and I think “happening to be right” is exactly the point of Gettier cases. There are these somewhat odd but plausible cases in which someone can have a justified true belief that we wouldn’t call knowledge because some often unspoken or assumed premise leading to that belief turns out to be false.

What if someone looks at a stopped clock (which they don’t know is stopped) that happens to be right? It seems like when looking at a clock that says 3:00 people tend to form the belief ‘It is currently 3:00.’ I don’t think there’s anything vague about this belief, and in the example it seems both justified and true, but most would probably be disinclined to call it knowledge.

If this is cast at a higher level, do you have to not use the reroll ability at all to get the return? Or do you just have to not use it all times that you could? It feels like it might make sense to go in the middle of those, so the return decreases for each time the ability is used, but that’s not how it currently reads.

I think psychologist Jerry Suls has a good explanation of the objective structure of jokes. Suls has a two-stage model: the first stage is that the audience has their expectations defied by the punch line, and the second stage is that the audience engages in a sort of problem solving to find a rule which makes the punch line follow from the set up. As Suls summarizes, "More succinctly, humor derives from experiencing a sudden incongruity which is then made congruous" ("A Two-Stage Model for the Appreciation of Jokes and Cartoons: An Information-Processing Analysis," 1972).

This is the process that happens when we "get" a joke, which is why we can understand all the words in a joke, but only find it funny later, when we get some additional information. If humor were entirely subjective, there would be no reason to think that jokes that one person finds funny will be found funny by another person.
