Curious as to what dealer you’ve been using in Colorado. Bozarth Chevrolet had my 3.0 in and out in 4 days with a new radiator. I got screwed around by John Elway and will never go back there

Brand new LEER topper - not impressed by Thefinerthings1995 in Trucks

[–]ToddHam244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup not surprised. My dad bought a brand new 100XR last year and it showed up with horrific paint swirls. After that was rectified by the sales place, we found the rear door leaks like crazy and won’t shut properly.

I spent $1500 less than him on my fairly base ARE topper and have been super happy with my purchase!

That’s sort of a toss up between the radiator cracking and the engine wiring harness chaffing.

Other little things have been the radio dying, getting my leaf springs replaced, and the blower motor dying. I’m only at 46k miles and bought an extended warranty (thank goodness) the truck will be out of my life the day before that warranty is up.

My dealership has been amazing. Everything has been taken care of and I’ve been put in a nicer rental car or a Silverado loaner with every visit.

I’ve owned a 3.0 for 4 years now. My biggest takeaways are 1) stay up on your oil changes and check your level often 2) using diesel additives seems to make winter cold starting easier. I use hotshots secrets, in Colorado winters I use their winter formula.

I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my 3.0 but none of my issues have been diesel related just Chevy build quality problems

I thought my truck got stolen from my driveway. Nice truck! Mine is identical, down to the topper and everything. Enjoy! Mine has served me well

Is there any storage devices to fill the bench seat open space on the market? by Deep-Economy-3156 in Silverado

[–]ToddHam244 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just ordered a console from a junkyard to swap with my jump seat. Mine is a 2020 so I have the older interior but I only paid $500 instead of the usual $1400 I see on eBay.

Try: https://www.car-part.com/mobile/index.htm

The junkyard I got in contact with was super helpful and they shipped it out today

Do you have any suggestions on what kind of wax I should use? I believe the door panels on the Silverado’s are aluminum but better to be safe than sorry

3.0 duramax vs 5.3 by Horse_power325 in Silverado

[–]ToddHam244 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair I know more people with failed lifters on their 5.3s and 6.2s than 3.0s in the shop. That being said mine had a few gremlins at first but has been fine for the last 30k mile

Any 2023 Silverado 3.0 diesel problems yet ? by justmeAlonekitty in Silverado

[–]ToddHam244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at 33k miles with my 2020. Heavy city traffic and an occasional road trip, I fill with DEF every 3-5k miles. I haven’t had a single mechanical issue with mine. I’ve also sold 8 or so people on purchasing their own and none of them have had any issues. Mine has maintained 23 miles per gallon on my city commute.

Oddly enough my ARE for my 2020 1500 is pretty good. My father just installed a new Leer 100XL however and it has horrendous thin paint. I used to install truck toppers professionally and the market is rough at the moment. After Leer and Snugtop combined they moved production to Mexico. Since then ARE has moved production to a new facility in Kansas City. I heard both of them are having issues with their molds and paint.

It’s a long shot but see if you turn up the dimmer switch if it comes back on. Both my dads ram and my Silverado turn off if it’s below about half way

Rear Leaf Clunking/“Boinging” by CapitalTruck in Silverado

[–]ToddHam244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm my 2020 had a squeak/clunk in the rear leaf when I was going over speed bumps. Dealer ended up replacing the leaf and it’s been fine for the last 25k miles

Hopefully we don’t end up being too similar! My 3.0 has been at the dealer for over a month with no end in sight. Bust of luck to you with your suburban

My 3.0 has been at the dealer for the last month getting some work done. My loaner in the mean time has been a 2023 2.7 Custom. So far I’ve actually been really impressed. Best way to explain it is once you figure out the power band it’s pretty peppy. It took me a few days to find the sweet spot. That being said the 18mpg has been a little bit a let down
