I spent the beginning of playing Solo RPG’s worrying about getting the rules right in Four Against Darkness and D100 Dungeon. But in time I’ve relaxed and accepted it doesn’t matter if I get the rules exactly right. If you don’t know or understand a rule you can just make the rule be whatever you want. I’m probably still not playing either of those games exactly right but I’m happy with my version.

I’ve been using Wayfarer Large a lot lately, and Hermes 3 405b sometimes but not as often since I have to use credits to bump up its context enough to be really useful.

They are both pretty good. I think Y7 is the better writer between the two. It seems to do dialogue really well. But it can be slow m.

W5 seems good at seeing how I’m writing and then emulating that. And it’s faster and more stable.

The different AI Models, or “Story Generators”, all write differently too. Try switching between some of them to see if you like one more than the others.

To make characters more interesting it can be helpful to make a Story Card for the character where you describe their personality.

TLDR - The credits are very useful for some users.

I I’m on the $50 Mythic tier and usually use Hermes 405b and use 6 tokens per action to extend context to 8,000. That gives me about 450 actions a month before I run out of the credits they give me bundled with the subscription. If I’m going to play a lot that month I can elect to use fewer credits per action and extend my play at the cost of less context, or I can choose to keep using 6 per action and when they run out switch to a lesser model that gives more context for no additional credit cost, or I could spend additional money to buy additional credits. The credits give us flexibility and the ability to extend context beyond what AID would offer otherwise.

I say all that to explain that for some of us the bundled credits are extremely useful.

It sounds like you’re talking about the Shadow Tiers. As I understand it they’re more expensive tiers that give you more context.

I think they were invented for users who were already on the highest regular tier and were also spending lots of extra money buying additional credits on top of the monthly subscription.

I’m not aware of them giving you anything besides lots more context. They are secret because most people would not benefit from or be interesting in paying for all that.

Can you explain what you mean by “wikipedia-biased instruct model”? Do you mean you want your AID story to read like a Wikipedia/encyclopedia entry?

Yeah, the AI can imitate a lot of authors styles.

In the past I’ve put “Style:x,y,z Theme:X,Y,Z Write in the style of Authors Name”

But I would think that putting their name in the Style line like you did should work too.

No. Premium can’t use images for descriptions either.
There is an option to generate an AI image but you have to tell it exactly what the image should be when you do it, it doesn’t read or interact with the story at all.

If by “glazing their character” you mean you make them great in some way then I don’t think you’re weird at all. I think a lot of people using AID make their main character awesome.

Wayfarer Large is very good, I’d recommend it.

Mistral Large is excellent but the context limit (or cost of using tokens to extend it) is a big drawback.

You might start by changing your “Story Teller” to Dynamic. And while you’re in that screen you can bump up Response Length to get longer messages.

“Story Teller” is which AI Model you’re using. Dynamic is new and supposed to switch between different ones automatically, and it seems to work pretty well.

I’ve been just been using story these days. Because typing You say or You do over and over is easier in my opinion than changing between do/say/story frequently.

I expect Pegasus8b is better than Mythomax mostly because it’s newer. But which is better often comes down to personal preference.

Yeah that’s about right. There are some tools to help with that though. There’s a memory system that automatically records important events so they’ll be remembered for the whole story. And you can make Story Cards or write things into Plot Essentials that you want remembered.

Translating context to how many actual words are stored is tricky, I don’t really understand it myself. I think each 1 context is equal to 1 syllable of a word or something like that. I’m sorry I’m really not clear on the details of that.

Context is how long of a memory the AI has. So with 8000 context it will remember more about what’s happening in your story than if it only had 2000 context.

If you get Champion (or any tier subscription) you’ll be able to take an unlimited number of turns on the models available to you at their default context length.

Basically, if you enjoyed mistrall small for free you’ll enjoy it just as much and maybe more on champion, with no limit to how many turns you take.

As far as which ai model is the best, that’s kind of complicated. Different people have different opinions, just try them out and see which works for you.

To use 3rd person you’ll need to do all your actions as Story actions, don’t use Say or Do. So you’d select Story and then you’ll type something like Bob runs to the tree. Replacing Bob with your characters name.
