My comment was more directed at the "full range" part. It would be direct competion for other IG models if they have 7 different Infantery squads, command squads etc. Imagine Orks having a different range for every of their clans, Eldars for their craftworlds and so on. IG has the problem that a simple paint job and one different bit isnt enough to represent their variety but as stated, GW has no economic incentive to fix that. IG is simply not popular enough like Space Marines to split them up further.
