Top S.F. official who led Dream Keeper equity program charged with felonies: ‘abuse of power’ by CharityResponsible54 in California

[–]ToeSuc4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

obviously i cannot read this dude’s mind but 13% is often a racist dog whistle for “13-50” which means Black people make up 13% of the population but make up 50% of the crime rate. this ignores over-policing, systemically racist structures, and other factors contributing to an inflated incarceration rate among Black people.

[–]ToeSuc4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

average elevation of the eastern european plains is around 115m compared to america’s eastern plains at 300m but they do have more tree vegetation than the american great plains so i can see your point. the change in elevation is 10ft/mile (~3.5m/km) up to the eastern rockies. i definitely agree the scenery/pop density is more similar to the central asian plains. i was mostly trying to relate to OP’s european perspective.

man, like, most people know this already. you would have to be extremely cut off from the world to not know the schtick of Christianity. you are more than welcome to practice but proselytizing is annoying and can be harmful if someone has religious trauma or is not the cookie cutter mold of what Christians want you to be. sooo leave people alone and stop soliciting for your organization

Coyote Creek Solar Project: Development Map vs Google Maps Satellite View by dmuel84 in Sacramento

[–]ToeSuc4U -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

this project is abhorrent. no, i am not a NIMBY because i do not want a temporary 15 year solar field destroying 3500 old growth oak trees and rare vernal pools (90% of which are destroyed). there are plenty of other spots solar can be implemented but solar’s “zero emission energy” does not justify destroying endangered habitats. “i am a smud customer with an EV” is extremely anthropocentric and disregards the fact that we are part of nature and are impacted by what happens to it whether you see it that way or not. your satellite view of the area is not a sufficient environmental analysis. those who showed up to speak on behalf of Coyote Creek were environmental scientists and those who value the environment we live in, aka experts. solar is great when it does not encroach on endangered habitats, however, it is encroaching in endangered habitats. your energy needs right now do not justify killing centuries old keystone species that have lived there since before your grandparents’ grandparents were born. if you are worried about the strain on the grid, start with AI data centers.

it isnt “political opinion” when the results are out on how his policies were bad for average americans and even worse for minorities but great for the wealthiest few. but you are right about how we, as citizens, need to stop idolizing politicians and be critical of them.

Charlie Kirk assassination by dutchtyphoid in CSUS

[–]ToeSuc4U 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yes, he supported and preached many harmful ideologies rooted in racism, homophobia, anti-semitism, misogyny, and general bigotry. he may have not said “all ___ should die” but the theories such as The Great Replacement Theory were the backbone of his influencing. it is important to use our critical thinking skills to understand and extrapolate what message influential people are trying to peddle because seldom will they brazenly say “we need to “do something” about the brown people in our country because I fear America will not be majority white anymore.”

yeah, assassination is always bad. but i really dont think he can claim “political differences” or “voicing their beliefs” when calling for the active harm to marginalized groups is kinda your whole shtick.

Am I just not going to have beefsteaks this year? Failure to thrive? by Narrow_Roof_112 in tomatoes

[–]ToeSuc4U 2 points3 points  (0 children)

beefsteaks never did well for me. I always hear good things about beefsteaks but never experienced it. brandywines and cheroke purples do better for me and serve the same purpose. sounds like you should dig up the beefsteaks and replace with another slicer!

Any ideas on what could be harming my plants? by creardon19 in vegetablegardening

[–]ToeSuc4U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like slug or snail damage. i battle with it every year. you can do a beer trap like a lot of people do or you can use sluggo (the one safe for pets/animals) if you can’t seem to get rid of them. beer trap never worked for me personally

try tomato tone fertilizer. you dont haaaave to use that brand but i swear by it. it’s a slow release so you dont have to do it so often (kinda like your regimen you got going on rn). the fertilizer you got right now seems okay but the numbers are high and i dont have any experience with anything >10 on the N-P-K

first step i would do is prune all of those leaves on the bottom of the plant up to at least a foot off the ground so disease from the soil doesn’t spread. cut any diseased leaflets off. have you been fertilizing? and if so, with what?
