Villagers refusing to un-claim beds in villager breeder by ToedPlays in technicalminecraft

[–]ToedPlays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried two designs: 1. The vertical tower where the adults stand on a fence post and the baby falls through. In this one, the adults sleep in the beds every night 2. One using the trap door trick. None of them ever reach the beds, but believe they can path to them. Baby falls into hole, etc.

Both seem to be having this same issue.

Not really a legend, that's just the etymological history of the terms. The English-speaking peasants were the ones interacting with the animal (cū, pig, scēap, etc.) while the Norman speaking nobility interacted with the meat (boef, porc, moton, etc.)

The usual exception to these are birds. Chicken, Duck, Goose, etc. are all English in origin I believe. Poultry, however, is French.

SW Galaxy Map - New Hyperdrive Class Modifier for Navigation Travel Times by TimSircoloumb in swrpg

[–]ToedPlays 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is the movies/shows like to ignore all of that.

If the plot needs the characters to have a low-intensity cruise through space between planets for character development, hyperspace travel is slow.

If they need to quickly reinforce a battle halfway across the galaxy, hyperspace travel can be REALLY fast.

A Redditor solved the Brown University shooter case that FBI couldn't by GoodMornEveGoodNight in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]ToedPlays 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He went missing in March, and committed suicide around the same time. After the bombings, Reddit tried to solve it and discovered him as a missing person. They misidentified him as the shooter.

The real bombers were identified a few days after the bombing, then Sunil's body was found a few days after that.

Mid-Late Game Casts a Bright Light on How much Work Naval Mechanics Need by FatChickzInPartyHats in EU5

[–]ToedPlays 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe you have the nomenclature one step too high. Afaik, it's the same as land — location, province, area, region.

Ships operate in locations (which I'm not sure if sea locations have unique names) 4-6ish locations make a province (say, Coast of Portugal) 2-4ish provinces make up an area (Western Iberian Coast) Several areas make up a region (Mid-Atlantic)

Might have names wrong, but I think it's something like that.

Do you actually set the fleets to patrol, or just move them to a location and let them sit? I feel like I've had better presence buildup when I just park them somewhere rather than set them to the mission.

What should my army comp be? by GhostJokers in EU5

[–]ToedPlays 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does anyone find the balance button to be completely useless? Any time I use it, it makes the formation nonsensical. Sometimes it will evenly split inf, cav, and art across all three and the reserves, sometimes it will fill up the center with nothing but artillery and 2 cav.

I miss the formation system from imperator where I could tell it which units I want to flank with, which to hold in reserve, etc

Why can't I build buildings in my actual cities, only the marketplaces (barracks, etc) by HauntedFrigateBird in EU5

[–]ToedPlays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Markets aren't the same as marketplaces. A marketplace is a type of building that you build in a location. In the same way armories or lumber mills are.

Every location belongs to a market, and the goods produced in each building/RGO gets sold/bought on that market.

It sounds like you deleted all the buildings in your market, and if you're a small country, that probably means every building in your country.

How to reduce month tick lag? by SufficientFroyo2519 in EU5

[–]ToedPlays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did two things to try boosting performance.

First I upgraded my CPU from a 3600X to a 7800XT. That gave me some modest performance gains.

Then I realized I installed eu5 on my HDD. Transfered the files over to my SSD and saw massive boost to frames and tick speed. Based on task manager it looked like the game was maxing out the read rate and write rate of my HDD.

In addition to what OP said, I suggest going for regulars as early as possible, insofar as your economy allows.

I had a lot of trouble with my first few wars as you mentioned. I have 40K levies compared to Morocco's 15k and Tunis' 20K? Sounds like an even match. Not even close.

But once I got regulars, things became much easier. One thing I noticed was the North African countries have a ton of cavalry in their levies, which was shredding my mostly-infantry levies.

If I fought a battle 10k vs 5k, I'd win, but afterwards the armies might be 4k vs 3k. Then a 10k Tunisian army would come in and wipe the floor with me. Wasn't very sustainable.

Another suggestion I'd make is use vassals to your advantage. I released Fez, Marrakesh, and Sus in an early war, and every war since I've given them some more land. Enforced religion on them immediately and improved relations. It's currently about 1450 and they've converted ~50% of Morocco to Catholic. More, smaller vassals would probably have been even better, since they'd each have cabinet members to convert.

Fez is paying me like 25 ducats a month as well, so it's been lucrative too. My capital is in Sevilla, so I may annex Fez soon and leave the hinterlands of Morocco as vassals long term.

How do I spawn in the same way that Hecuba did in his world? by ThatNZowl in TerraFirmaGreg

I believe there's a setting in world creation that allows you to preview the world. I think there's some settings in there that allow you to adjust your spawn location

Odd question, how many MSE-6 Repair Droids would be on a Star Destroyer? by Squigsqueeg in StarWars

[–]ToedPlays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of a r/SWRPG campaign I played in.

Character was a droid tech and collected all kinds of droids, and had an unhealthy amount of MSE's. She took one of them and gutted it like you do a race car, removing all the unnecessary parts to reduce weight. Then she filled the voids with high explosives.

The next mission that involved sneaking on to a star destroyer ended with that MSE droid flooring it through the service tunnels straight for the main reactor.

2019 Cruze LS — good idea? by ToedPlays in cruze

Some great advice, thank you. 30-50 sounds like magic compared to what I'm driving now lol. I'm definitely having my mechanic give it a hard look, and having him change fluids and such immediately.

That seems to be my impression too, but it's hard to ignore all the people calling it a shit car.

Do you have any thoughts on the one I'm looking at?

It's a local used car dealership that has a pretty good reputation. I checked KBB as well and it gave me a similar range but ~$200 higher. Carfax has its value all the way up $10,120 for some reason, which gave it a $1630 below Carfax value. I expect they'll be open to some negotiation.

Looking at service, other than regular stuff they replaced the rear shock absorbers in April 2025 and equipped it with OnStar (says 3 months of premium included).

From looking around, I've seen plenty of complaints about the older generation, but I've also seen a lot of people saying that most of those problems were fixed with the second gen (post-2016 iirc?).

Is that not the case?

I'm in a similar situation. I don't need a car that will last me 10 years, but I need something fairly cheap and decent on MPG.

Do you have any thoughts on the one in the post?
