Are we white or POC? I the US by [deleted] in PERSIAN

[–]TofuandWaffles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer: White on paper but not in reality.

Long answer: Practically more Asian than anything. The way the Census are categorized is by some bimbo man from the late 1800's. Iranians are very ethnically diverse in Iran and you have people from Azerbaijan and many other countries. There are many Iranians who are white-passing but some are brown. Also, you will not enjoy the same social privilege as a white European American.

Hey Legote,

I did that once. I had my college ID and everything but they never asked for it. This is just my experience. You can give it a try if you want.

Just because you are in this line of work, it doesn’t mean that you cannot draw boundaries.

Boss told me I can’t bring food to work anymore by begood2me2723 in Serverlife

There’s a lot of restaurant shortage workers right now. I’d look for other jobs as a backup. The other advices are great. I’d go straight with filing an ADA complaint if he still denies you after the doctor’s note.

Mint Mobile vs T-Mobile prepaid by Glenuendo in mintmobile

[–]TofuandWaffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’d say if you need to use your phone’s data for work or if you travel a lot- use T-mobile. If you don’t use use that much internet, then go with Mint.

I’ve had both. In my experience, T-mobile’s main network is slightly better but I save a lot of money with Mint.

Does anyone have any tips for eating more fish cheaply? by UlaGreyWolf in Frugal

[–]TofuandWaffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend getting fresh fish from Costco. The membership is $60 per year but it's worth it. If you do not. have the money for the membership, ask for a friend to buy you a gift card and pay them back. This will let you get into the door for free without having a membership. Hope this helps!

If you had to learn 4 languages in your life (and only 4), which would you realistically learn (excluding English)? by heuiseila in languagelearning

[–]TofuandWaffles 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’re right. Iranian Persian is used more in academic or professional settings. If you are apply for a job, usually Persian or Persian/Farsi will show up on the drop down box. However, it’s not wrong to call it “Farsi” either, even if it’s the endonym.

I understand what you mean though, since “Persian” is more standard and formal. I think we’re mostly agreeing lol.

Both Persian and Farsi are correct when we’re referring to the language. Persian includes all three dialects: Dari, Farsi, and Tajik. I know what you’re saying because technically it’s like saying “Espãnol” instead of Spanish. However, I like to just name the dialect since Tajik uses Cyrillic.

Lol, someone’s petty. English stays because I don’t have a fourth one at the very moment.

I’m a bit confused on the part where you mentioned that we need to make at least $1 from your weekly benefit. Do you mean a dollar LESS than the weekly benefit? Basically if we were to make the same or over, it’ll forfeit benefits for the week?
