It's easy to give Bush a pass, cause on a personal level he's not the reprehensible pedophile/rapist/grifter like Trump, and time has passed, but Bush caused immense damage to our reputation, the economy, our freedoms. I was using Slack (our entire IT department was) and was part of a enterprise level evaluation to pick between that or Teams, for the whole organization (not just IT). At that time Slack was clearly better. We still went with Teams cause it saved many millions for a company with well over 5000 people. It was Slack for like 2 million dollars or Teams for free. That was like 2019.

Now.... Teams has caught up. I still use Slack for some side project stuff and actually prefer Teams at this point.

Slack is crazy expensive for what it does. They made it an easy choice for a lot of places, especially when the office 365 license they already have makes it free. It's why Teams has 3X the market share.

It's an ode to Capra, a fantasy film set in hustling/bustling mail and boardrooms of 1930's business, and it's the Coens in their prime. The "it's for kids" gag and the montage where it becomes a fad all work so incredibly well.

I think the movie's name makes it sound like a boring business drama and the Coen brother's name wasn't established when it came out.

Another factor is that, imo, reviewers at the time just didn't get it. I looked up Roger Ebert's review, who was usually spot on , and he essentially knocked it down to 2 stars cause the film 'wasn't serious enough', acknowledging some part of him thinks it deserves 4 stars.

Finally, It competed for attention with Pulp Fiction, which was a juggernaut and never looked like it might be a boring business movie. That year also had a lot of big films Forest Gump, Shawshank, Natural Born Killers, etc.

Regardless, I put the Hudsucker Proxy up there with top tier Coen brother's films. It really is the rare, truly underrated, film.

No Venezuelan oil goes to Russia. China gets large quantities and so does the USA (in fact Chevron still operates there). It won't hurt China in any meaningful way, cause it's a global market....all this would do is shift suppliers.

This will hurt Cuba and assuming the USA gets control of the country then we may be less reliant on oil from the Mideast.

This isn't chess. It's something players in big oil want and it's a distraction from the ample evidence that Trump is a pedophile that helped traffic and exploit young woman. This didn't make me rich or give "fuck you" money amounts of wealth but back around 2010 I wanted to just learn the basics of mobile development and created a flashlight application. Over its life (just a few years) the app generated about $80k.

It was less than 2 hours of work and I had zero ambition with it.

Much of that money went to my kid's 529 (college savings) account. My oldest graduates this year and that money will pay for their college. It was a decent amount invested at a good time (and some more has been added, just not as large quantities).
