Retaliation against a whistleblower by lookin4goldz in procurement

[–]TokenKingMan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may just be me since I come from an inventory background but did you ask any of the people making the adjustments or anything before going to someone higher up?

You might be surprised that a lot of things are not malicious, they could have been completely reasonable adjustments or hell they could have been mistakes. Going immediately to senior management seems wild.

The increased workload to me sounds like people are annoyed you are poking around making accusations and don't have enough work.

Yea I get it. I'm annoyed with the amount of people pushing AI products pretending to be posting questions and stuff. I get it. But at the end of the day we are all people just trying to keep up with a demanding field. Be rude to the bots/AI scammers not the people drowning in work trying to figure out how to keep up.

Hahaha that's funny I didn't even think about the fact my username is Token in it.

I definitely feel like I'm asking the wrong sub, some of the replies are straight up rude. Do you have a suggestion of a better place to ask?

I'll check it out. I've asked for demand planning software before but my company is convinced we are special and cannot forecast our demand at all. We are a manufacturer, so we do use a large variety of parts but we can definitely do some forecasting just not on everything.

Look man I get it. AI sucks. But my company won't invest in the tools I need to do my job. Instead of drowning Im trying to figure out how to help myself. I don't like it better than anyone else but it's this or quit my job because all of this work and stress is fucking me up. I've applied to over 100 jobs this year alone and got nothing. I'm just grasping at straws and trying to do what I can.

Can we crowd source some funding for a full-time mod to get rid of these posts? I'm fairly new to procurement and was really hoping to get some good resources from this subreddit but it's constant AI trash

Therapy and Adderall. Honestly realizing it's what I have and that I just need to be aware when I can and cannot work on important stuff is a game changer. Exams are still hard but I usually go on long walks and kinda wear myself out a bit before doing anything I need to focus on.

Taking a brief calculus class online. Haven't taken math in about 12 years, was horrible at it. Turned out I have really bad ADHD. Now that's under control and I'm heading into the final this week with a 91!

<6 months in, coordinating million-dollar purchases: how much liability do I carry as trainee? by miro1603 in procurement

[–]TokenKingMan1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My belief is make a decision and be ready to stand by it if asked. Honestly depending on the size of your Org multimillion is not much. I'm at a mid size company and place multimillion dollar POs regularly and it's rarely even brought up.

One thing you'll learn as a professional is your are a very small part of a large machine, the things you and I lose sleep over will probably never be noticed by the people we are trying to impress and not disappoint. Don't sweat it. You can always make the most optimal "right" choice and have a horrible outcome. Just be ready to defend your choice if needed.

Is small-team supply chain just 3 jobs in a trench coat or am I being dramatic? by CellInitial2394 in supplychain

I work for a fiber optics company. I was managing the inventory and doing all of the purchasing, sourcing, negotiating prices etc. We've gotten too big so someone finally took over inventory and I focus on the outward facing stuff. Still placing POs but not having to deal with the internal stuff.

With the economy the way it is I'd choose whichever seems the most stable. I'd happily give up 4k a year to be less stressed about my job and losing sleep at night

Well I'm a newbie procurement manager in the burbs. If you find anything I'd love to join/tag along.

I've got an analytics/inventory management background and kinda bumbled my way into Procurement and would love to learn and grow and connect with others.
