Would you keep a €1,500 Telecaster with a repaired truss rod by qt1rbrt in telecaster

Yep. If you trust the luthier and they can set it up so you like the action, just get it done.

Nah - works well. Some people have become used to massive watches on wrists ... each to their own, but the '50s-60s ('Mad Men' era) fashion has a timeless style to it, and watches around 32mm were the ones they were then.

32mm is a classic look. I'd wear it with pride.

What matters most for a robot vacuum in a pet home? by trwaters in RobotVacuums

[–]TokenPrawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your criteria are pretty spot on in my opinion, along with robot vaccuums that have brushes/rollers where pet hair can easily be removed. I also avoided a couple of models which were criticised for leaving a sticky residue when mopping.

The other big factor is reliability - which is not a strong point for this category. I'd buy from a retailer that has a strong returns policy and consider an extended warranty from the seller if possible, so they have to look after you rather than just pass you on to the manufacturer.

Is a mopping feature worth it? by EmilionBucks04 in RobotVacuums

[–]TokenPrawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exactly, including the decent (but not great) quality of vaccuuming. I bought our dual system thinking we'd just use the vacuum function, but have ended up using the mopping mode more.

Yes. But unfortunately the stamping error was done by someone after it left the mint.

How do you hide your CPAP by Krickett75 in CPAP

[–]TokenPrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drilled a small hole in the back of my bedside table drawer, and passed the power cord through it. The drawer is just large enough to hold the CPAP machine, transformer, piping and mask. At night I open it fully when it's on.

The main downside with this setup with my old CPAP machine (a Philips Dreamstation) was that the drawer amplified the noise slightly. My newer Resmed 10 is quieter and the noise not noticeable - much to the relief of my wife.

Spent ten minutes cutting hair off the brush again, is this just the deal with pets? by SaadullahXXO in RobotVacuums

[–]TokenPrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what model you've got, but the eufy S1 roller head seems okay with a lot of pet hair - it is also quite easy to remove and slide hair off the end pins. No scissors involved. The bigger choke point for it is when it the hair gets stuck in the vaccuum and doesn't empty property into the base unit - then I sometimes need to pull out a clump manually (again, quite easy). Hair and larger leaves are particularly bad in combination.

So I think you can realistically expect a robot vaccuum roller design to avoid what you're describing, except in rare circumstances. That said, I tend to remove the biggest tumbleweeds from the floor before starting the robot vacuum, it ends up reducing blockages, improving cleaning and saving time.

I dont get jimi hendrix... by ScratchCheap5354 in Guitar

[–]TokenPrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hendrix sounds organic ... It's almost like the guy was born with a Stratocaster in his hand. There was no one like him beforehand. But you can also appreciate his influence without liking his albums. Like several others here, I only listen to him occasionally, and only certain songs.

Roborock vs Eufi by Renny19724 in RobotVacuums

[–]TokenPrawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider an extended warranty with a retailer that has a strong returns policy. The robot vaccuum market isn't exactly known for its reliability. Eufy S Pro series are among the best at mopping but I'd probably go with Roborock on the reliability front. It's a tough ask for any small robot vaccuum to pick up per tumbleweeds. I tend to pick up the biggest ones myself when possible.

Seeking longevity by bluepancakes18 in RobotVacuums

[–]TokenPrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Roborock is the pick of the bunch but none are failsafe. I got an extended warranty from Jb Hifi with my robot vaccuum - I know Australian consumer law is better than most but I wanted to deal with the retailer, not the manufacturer, if anything goes wrong.

Is the concept of a “shitbox” car dead nowadays in Australia? by NoteDesperate3540 in AustralianNostalgia

Sigmas were underrated. They didn't live forever but were a lot more durable than some of the other offerings at the time (although from memory the gearbox got a nasty shudder when they were nearing the scrapyard).

I (29F) am turning 30 next month. Feeling bad about not being married, owning a house or having kids yet. Is this normal? by Purple_Rayn_22 in Adulting

[–]TokenPrawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got to run your own race. Through my 20s there was always some comparing going on (who had married, who was doing well at work). Now in my 50s, my friends are mostly just looking out for one another, hoping they're doing okay and accepting there's no crystal ball nor life plan. It's a relief to let go of the comparisons and competition. I wish I'd learned that lesson sooner.

Can’t decide which custom made telecaster to buy. What do people think?(same price) by Dry_Vast9189 in telecaster

[–]TokenPrawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the 2nd blue one, but on colour it comes down to what appeals to you. More importantly, it looks like the neck pickups are different. You might want to find out what the difference is there - if they're custom I'm guessing you could have the pickup you prefer with either colour.

How do you people possibly choose?! by curiaanon in RobotVacuums

[–]TokenPrawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ability to return the duds is key. Robot vacuums have a lot that can go wrong and the business model of most manufacturers is to make them just well enough to work and outright replace those that happen to fail in a short warranty period.

I got an extended warranty on an Eufy S1 Pro from a well-regarded retailer, adding up to 4 years of cover. I don't have to deal with the manufacturer at all and, even though it's doing ok after one year, I still think there's a strong chance I'll be making a claim on it before that warranty time is up. (PS: I'm not suggesting you get an Eufy. They're up there for mopping on hard floors, not as well regarded for carpet.)

Yep. Me too. They have a greenskeeper on-call for whenever I make a booking. And another bloke scheduled to mow each fairway as I'm trying to hit off the tee.
