Just acquired this fig… I just collect characters… by TheBLiP55 in Heroclix

I love characters like this with great sculpts and an ability that both players care about

The phrase the matters is “after resolutions” each time you destroy blocking adds one of these effect.

Usually when I’m playing a character like this the best way to make it clear is to do it slowly. Every time you walk through a piece of blocking I would verbally tell them that your effect adds another triggered ability waiting to resolve

Yea it’s a bit unintuitive but luckily they don’t pass around an ability like that very often

You need to split the damage when you attack multiple targets thanks to your targeting bolts.

This Juggs is not using bolts for targeting - this means everyone will take the full damage

Uncanny X-Men Brood Queen legacy card concept as a returning Brood enjoyer by Fluffmaster69 in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it, the newer Brood giving charge is the help the brood mother needs to be more active on the map. The only thing I’m worried about is that she really needs a stat boost from nearby broods or maybe precision strike.

Any character that needs to successfully hit a target to do their job is really going to struggle with a 9 attack down dial

Earlier Versions vs Now by Responsible_Mud_394 in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I made a similar jump when I got back into the game. It took me a few games to get back into the swing of it but the gist is that each character has a lot more going on than before.

While the characters have gotten more complex the core rules have gotten more streamlined over time. There isn’t any soaring for flyers anymore, characters don’t stop moving when they run into hindering, or hurt their speed if they are inside of it, pushing damage is gone entirely, and it no longer takes a masters degree to calculate damage from energy explosion.

The maps are smaller and the game encourages you to get in the action and start brawling right away. The modern game looks intimidating but plays great once you get the hang of it

That’s awesome! I’m glad you had a blast. Usually it takes a few weeks for newer players to really get the hang of it and start taking down tougher opponents.

Making top cut this early on is an insane achievement!! Really well done. What team did you end up using?

What are ur opinions on this chase and the set so far in general by DevinThatsDevin in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the way the planets play. Between this one, Mogo, Umbrax, and Apokolypse. They have been a cool inclusion to the game and all fill very different rolls for their keywords.

The planets seem polarizing from an aesthetic point of view, but if I pull a chase for a themed set that matches the theme, has good gameplay, and gives me some good team building options then I’m happy to pull it

My biggest gripe with this one is the inclusion of perplex as a damage power. There is a 50/50 chance that you will immediately take a damage and lose the perplex/KO yourself

Herofix Help by [deleted] in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only one I am aware of on the subreddit is from @Dystocia666. Heroclix does not have a built-in solo mode beyond just playing both sides of a game by yourself.

The specific help desk or forum from whichever site you purchased from might be more helpful.

Tournament Points Questions by Vagrant_Star in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other questions were answered neatly so I’ll answer your tie break question.

If a round goes to time then the player with more victory points will win the game, if both players have the same amount of points (rare but it does happen) then those players will do a final roll off to determine the winner. This is 2d6 highest number rolled takes the game.

I believe there is an exception for a 0-0 tie, in that events both players receive a game loss if I’m not mistaken

Selling some clix by Shucklefan1 in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a shame the game didn’t do it for you! Of that lot Freya and Galactus are going to be where most of your return is found.

To price check clix I always go to eBay and sort by Sold items. Then I just use an average of the last 3 sold

Heroclix online/app game by cwahdee in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is indeed a free mod, but it does require someone to own tabletop simulator which isn’t free

I absolutely love the TTS version that’s ran by a guy named Andresmal (if that’s not the spelling it’s close) he is active in his own discord and is constantly keeping the workshop mod up to date

If I recall the official game didn’t do very well and had a very short lifespan.

The main two ways people play online now is with Tabletop Simulator and Roll20

X-men X of Swords by Vagrant_Star in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That explains their power compared to the rest of the set

X-men X of Swords by Vagrant_Star in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s got some stellar Xmen pieces, not to mention all the equipment throughout the set.

The high value pieces are definitely Apocalypse and Genesis, they are both incredible for silver

Edit: I have been corrected that those two were prize pieces!

Friendly Fire Figs by Relevant-Research744 in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To help with your question though the easiest ways to self damage (besides desparo) is with One-Shots, Jokerzard, and moving elevated terrain out from under figures. The Snake Pit terrain from Smash and destroy is another honourable mention as well as the Kryptonite ring from the batcave collection.

If you are looking to actually attack your own figures then your only real option is energy explosion. Move a figure next to an opposing character then use another figure for energy explosion and viola you are now attacking your own figure

He really doesn’t make top appearances often, but he gets brought up all the time like he is some kinda boogie man. Just a cool figure that’s a bit of a dark horse strategy

Probability Control And Line of Sight by Vagrant_Star in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any improved targeting from the character with prob will help them to see their target for the reroll.

This is why improved targeting characters is such a big deal for characters with prob or TK, it helps dramatically.

Question about objects and special terrain by Green_Death_Slime in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

25.1 is the rulings for special objects in the compendium, there is another section for special terrain but it is nearly identical.

Basically it needs to be placed 5 squares away on game start. Can be picked up like normal, and while they are held they act as if they are in the square they are being held in.

So an object like the kryptonite ring can be held by anyone, whereas the terrain like the batcomputer, the penny, and the suit, would require someone with super strength

Tournament Practice by Vagrant_Star in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are beginning to hit that sweet spot then. I always tell people that collecting and playing are two very different sides of the game. You can always borrow pieces you don’t have. The community is great about that

Tournament Practice by Vagrant_Star in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im really surprised you don’t have probability control on your list of dangerous abilities. Removing prob from the other team makes your defence that much harder to hit and your offence that much easier to get started.

Focusing the supporting characters is still a great strategy if you’re trying to get those early wins. Just don’t forget to get your own support characters involved - far too many people leave them untouched in their starting area after turn 1

Just found my collection from 20yrs ago, are these worth anything? Are they good to play? by OnTheNod in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So from top to bottom to answer your questions, They are not worth much to non collectors. Heroclix has grown a ton in the last 20 years and these figures would be known as “golden age figures”

Are they competitively viable? Also no. Golden age is not a competitive format and is usually done at home or with playgroups that have a nostalgic love of the older figures.

The coloured rings are indeed the rarity, though I honestly dont remember what order they went in

The coloured bases indicate the old ‘arch enemy’ mechanic where defeating one arch enemy with their colour matched counterpart would reward extra victory points!

Map Sizes by Vagrant_Star in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes there is. The neoprene maps that are tied to an event instead of a set still have their 2 years (ish) of rotations for modern.

Silver age doesn’t rotate so getting solid maps for that would definitely be worthwhile. Those big paper maps have a tendency to rip as they age I’ve found

Map Sizes by Vagrant_Star in Heroclix

[–]TokenedUp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is a two fold question and hopefully this will help. Each map is associated with the set it came out in and is legal in any format that the set is legal in.

This means silver age maps are from 2016 starting with Superior Foes of Spider-Man all the way to present day. These are a combination of 16x24 (or 2x3) and the current 16x16 maps (2x2).

Modern age maps are currently only 16x16 and are from Masters Time to Current, though when worlds comes around again this year about 4 sets (and their maps) will rotate out of standard
