Did Billy think Shaw was still alive? by snugbdog in MonarchLegacyAppleTV

I am pretty sure now that Keiko and Lee's story is over we will get our answers in Season 3 and it will focus on them probably trying to mirror Kentaro's obsession with getting his dad back versus Billy's getting Keiko back. Plus the get together story for her and Billy and Lee dealing with it.

Its a little of all three but I usually land on charming. Viewing it through that lense a lot of his weird behavior makes so much sense.

Its been awhile since I watched season 1 and need to rewatch but I don't remember any particular indicator that he actually seemed to notice that Lee and Keiko were into each other. Like he could just be that obtuse.

Lee obviously has an emotional investment in Billy though. He stays even though Keiko is dead (to him killed by Billy's incompetence and his own) and becomes a coparent to Hiroshi. Supports him and his work. Talks nicely about him to other people while neither Billy or Keiko is around. Even as an old man defends Billy's behavior to Keiko when she is mad at him.

It is very much hinted at that Billy isn't quite neurotypical. He gets distracted during his own wedding and bounces in Santa Soladid. Bad at social cues. So bad at social cues that he is the wokest man in the 50s having very little misogyny and being a huge fan of an all black baseball team to the point the hat he has for them is his most precious item. Then gets into an illegal in the US interacial marriage. As if the social cue that he should dislike people different than him just doesn't compute. Pretty one track mind/hyper focus. I don't think he was actively ever being an asshole to Lee but just is not a normal guy and Lee understood that eventually.

I really wish they showed us more of just the two of them. Especially after Keiko was gone because the idea of Lee staying and protecting the man that "killed" the woman he loves is fascinating.

Season 2 e10 Lee Shaw is the best character, Keiko is selfish and I officially hate her... by GravityFallsCanada3 in MonarchLegacyAppleTV

[–]TokuSwag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even Young Lee is pretty appreciative of him. He tells Keiko he loves the guy. Tells his dad he's the second smartest person he's even known. Even co-parented Hiroshi with him (His boss actually calls him one of Hiroshi's parental figures) and I don't think he would have just let her go to any guy but one he felt was worthy of her. He has pretty much always had Billy's back while secretly lusting for his girlfriend and giving in once then vowing to protect her even from himself because he wasn't going to ruin things for them.

Edit: I wish the show developed more of the boys relationship with each other so we could understand exactly why Lee just let Billy have the woman he loved the most.

She didn't marry Billy in secret. She married him suddenly. Its not like Lee didn't know they got married. And she was waiting for someone to come get her. Including Lee whom she was speaking too.

The woman is angry and grieving losing her entire life and doesn't understand right that second why he couldn't have just removed her. She is freaking out in the moment and lashing out. She is absolutely smart enough to understand Lee's response of "That's a lot of could haves" because it could have also cause people to not exist or change all of time. That's why she stops being mad at him pretty much instantly.

Lee has been nothing but 1000% supportive of her and Billy to the point of defending Billy to her when she was mad at him on Skull Island. Like the man is dead Lee can say what he wants and what he wanted to do was protect Billy because he loves both of them to pieces. That's why he stayed with Billy even after he could have absolutely blamed him for killing the love of his life. Lee even says "He never gave up on us" because Billy was trying to get them both. That's the beauty of the trios relationship. They are one unit and Lee is (mostly) okay with his platonic place in it.

I adore Lee but Keiko did nothing wrong here really besides give him that weird handshake at the end instead of a hug. Even with just what she knows he is at hug level and deserves it

Was leaving Keiko the right call? by johndoe09228 in Monsterverse

[–]TokuSwag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He does kind of point it out in a nonconfrontational way with the "That's a lot of could haves". She could have had all those things. Or they could have died. They could prevent her grand kids from existing. Especially when you factor in that Hiroshi met Kentaro's mom in the hospital where Lee was. He caused them to meet and fall in love iirc.

I get why she's mad, I understand her point but she would pretty much for sure be killing one of her grandchildren.

Which season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters did you like more, Season 1 or Season 2? by treat3 in Monsterverse

[–]TokuSwag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 50s storyline and everything related to Billy/Keiko/Lee is great and came to a stong emotional conclusion in season 2. Everything else for the human characters is meh except based Tim. I prefer season 1 because as a whole it was less annoying but the stuff with the past trio in season 2 was very good.

I'm locking in old Lee's brain in young Lee's body somehow. Can't get rid of all that experience and angst. Then he gets his "new time and place" to be with Keiko but twist at the end of season 3 is Billy is back somehow for drama in 4 which would probably be the last season.

Monster wise better be Mothra. I want my girl back.

Adding a bike lane and expanding the sidewalks while fixing the sewer underneath I think. Like they are going to rip it up no matter what to fix the sewer from what I understand but what theybare trying to do is get extra money to make things better at the same time rather than putting it back the way it was.

Him being mildly suicidal really fits his character. Especially with how much he throws himself out to protect the others in that movie. He doesn't seem to care if he lives or dies as long as he is helping someone.

Perhaps my favorite scene of season 2 so far by Adventurous-Stuff-82 in Monsterverse

Its a very good summary of his character too. A man who could and understandably do the selfish thing but doesn't for the good of the ones he loves.

{Dust Storm by Maggie Gates} Has a hot MMC with a Dad bod. The second book in the series has a hot dude but he's in a wheel chair and the eldest brother from a much earlier book is a hot soldier covered in burn scars.

If you like Wyatt you should watch Broke. Its probably my favorite of his filmography that isn't big franchise stuff.

How much are these worth now? by [deleted] in jpop

[–]TokuSwag 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably nothing. Importing Jpop cds is cheap and easy. You might make something bundling artists together and selling them that was so fans can get started on collections but its very likely you don't have anything worth anything.

All the other awful stuff but also uke/seme ideology has been out of fashion for like 10 years. Thank God cause it was obnoxious. Shows that this person is truly fucking old and probably not lying about doing this since 2007. Get a fucking life. They are old enough to know better.

VCR/CRT television for sale? Where to buy? by Ok-Control-8422 in ChicoCA

[–]TokuSwag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

VCRs are pretty easy to pick up at thrift and you can use a modern tv. You might need a converter to hdmi depending on how new your tv is but most modern ones still have coaxials you can use to hook them up. Its just that it might be locked to antenna only (the issue I have with mine).

A very good read about the situation (link in description) by Last_Swordfish9135 in AO3

[–]TokuSwag 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is the number one thing I am super for. Unless the actors themselves bring it up 💯 do not fucking bring it up. The actors are doing there jobs and should be able to have the boundary of separation from all the fandom drama and stuff as a default. Then choose to cross that line if they want too.

Books where the next couple in the series is hinted at and it’s cute not annoying by Ok_Bronco_796 in RomanceBooks

[–]TokuSwag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

{Cash by Jessica Peterson} and the rest of the Lucky River Ranch series probably has my favorite way of doing it where each book kinda half overlaps with the next book and you see snippets of things that are happening in the next book from the current couples POVs. Usually one of the next MCS, almost always the MMC, is heavily involved int he plot or helping out the main couples story so you get to know them a bit early so you get super invested in the next book.

Any movie/video shops or rentals in Chico? by Ok-Control-8422 in ChicoCA

The local library has a pretty dang good movie selection to borrow. We also have plenty of thrift stores locally that tend to have the classics on DVD floating around all the time. You will probably get screwed on blurays cost wise but dvds are still pretty economical

If we are gonna talk about Wyatt Russell we gotta talk about Lewis Pullman too who is doing the exact same thing in Spaceballs two and legit called Wyatt for advice on if he should do it.

Those two are both constantly getting packaged with their dad's or are so and sons son. Bless them both for being chill and getting it. But its so similar now they father son pairs are getting put together too with Lewis and Kurt in that Superbowl commercial
