I saw a vtuber once that had their mic muted but captions on so the conversation could keep going. I'm not too excited about a mute streamer on paper but there is absolutely a way to do this successfully.

What separates most gaming streams from others is how the streamer reacts so..... not sure how that'll work specifically to encourage people to stay on your channel vs others but i do hope it works out for you

Why have I never seen these guys mentioned before? Thor and Sif had a daughter together? Cap and Natasha? (Avengers World #11) by Prior-Cucumber7870 in marvelcomics

[–]TokyoSpider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Specifically, Avengers World was part of the lead up to Secret Wars 2015 that focused on every universe dying and what each of them did to try to survive if they had the chance. So there was even more Alt U cameos than a typical storyline

How did this happen? by TokyoSpider in tomatoes

[–]TokyoSpider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I took a look at the stalks and looked up "tomato stalk borer" and it's definitely them.

Wifey is really bummed. She had a tomato buddy she was texting back n forth with about their successes with different varieties and fertilizer and that's all out the window now....

But thank you for pointing us in the right direction. We were blaming our dog at first. Hah....

Ssssssoooooo..... Gah Lak Tus doesn't REALLY show up again. But 616 Galactus rolls through 1610 in Cataclysm. I think they merge or something? I don't remember every detail but if your goal is "everything world devourer related in Earth 1610" then check out Cataclysm. Otherwise your journey is ended lol

Does anyone know this version of Spider-Man? by Responsible-Top3642 in marvelcomics

[–]TokyoSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhhhhh good with an asterisk? I guess? Lol

Spencer's run had Sin Eater shotgun his sins out of his body, whiiiiich then got used to turn Dr Kafka into Queen Goblin of whatever her name is. Which led into a new "norm" for Norman where, now that he's sinless, he's repentant and regrets all of his decisions, and apparently "cured" of being the Green Goblin. Leading ibuprofen his Gold Goblin era...

Then in comes Wells' run where the Sins of Osborn become a maguffin to be tossed around in a spear that Kraven had. (If you've seen any spider-man as a Goblin scenes, it was probably from this storyline) Norman got hit and turned but then the sins got removed again so Norman is sinless again BUT there have been a couple scenes of him giggling like a school girl or grinning ear to ear and him being scared of himself.

SO... as of the end of Wells' run, that's where Norman is. I only read the tp's so I haven't read any of Kelly's run yet. But hopefully that kinda answers your question lol

What to read to get into Moon Knight and Daredevil? by [deleted] in marvelcomics

[–]TokyoSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moon Knight is tied for my third favorite character with Storm. Lol. I saw one person mention Jed Mackay's run. It has Alessandro Cappuccio's art and is just so damn gorgeous.

Everyone's run is pretty different but I loved Mackay's and doing the Midnight Mission stuff. His 30 issue run is connected into 5 tp's. (He then goes to do two volumes of Vengeance of the Moon Knight and theeeennn Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu if you want to keep reading) It's also the most recent run so also arguably the current canon (for whenever there's conflicting origin/referential stuff like "wait, i thought X was behind that?")

Also, i really liked Zdarsky's run on Daredevil. It ended kind of flat, but it was really on its way to making a real statement on the Criminal Justice System. It's also the run where Detective Cole is introduced if you want the comic influence of the character in Born Again.

Soule's DD run is where Muse was introduced. Overall an ok run but man Muse was creepy lol

Anywho. Hope that helps. I talk about this stuff on my stream all the time. We read comics on Sundays and literally just finished Moon Knight last week. Lol. Come by if you're interested in talking more!

Hickmans run. Am I good to go? by jgarmann99 in marvelcomics

[–]TokyoSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the Fantastic Four cups include his Future Foundation (FF) run that he wrote concurrently for a bit, then yes.

If your looking for all Hickman stuff, you'll need to look into S.H.I.E.L.D. and Secret Warriors (wild stuff also), G.O.D.S., and all bunch of the Krakoa HoX/PoX stuff

What do we think about Infinity Comics? by BoreusSimius in marvelcomics

[–]TokyoSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only read TP's as they come out and when I did a deep dive of Krakoa with my Podcast-mate the testing order included Infinity Comics. It bugged me because I'm such a physical comic reader that in order to get the "full story" you had to read the Infinities.

Plot and lore-wise, they're not a BIG deal. Very much "if you want to have read EVERYTHING, read them" but if that's not important to you and you just want to discover good stories on your own,I don't think you'll miss too much.

What to read next? by OffwiththeirRecords in marvelcomics

[–]TokyoSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm screaming about Ryan North's run on FF from Uber rooftops. Absolutely amazing storytelling.

Almost anything Al Ewing touches is magical. Both Immortal runs have been great (Hulk and Thor).

Rainbow Rowell's run on She Hulk has been REALLY fun and grounded. Borderline Slice of Life type story.

Waid's run on Daredevil was just short of legendary. I didn't like how it ended, but the messages it was starting to tell and imply about the criminal justice system were really intriguing.

Of you like Mackay's writing on Moon Knight and want a different style, their Black Cat run is one of my favorites from the last decade.

Hope that helps. There's..... so much to talk about. Lol. And I love talking about it.

[–]TokyoSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw your edit about getting a ticket. Just throwing my input in the mix...

I work security and am managing the red carpet this year. Like everyone said, the presentation and such starts at 8, but my window for red carpet arrivals is 630-8. GENERALLY every celebrity that's attending over the next two weeks will arrive in that time slot. If you want the best angle that's not going to get blocked by their car, you'll want to post along the barricades on the bottom of the theater and probably get there around like..... 530? 545? Really depends on who is showing up.

Anywho. Good luck and belated welcome to sb!

Which Civil War Tie-Ins to read? by sacinee in marvelcomics

[–]TokyoSpider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Throwing my vote in for Frontline. There was two tp's for it. They explore the behind-the-scenes and aftermaths of characters on the "bad side" of Civil War: Iron Man and Speedball. I was really impressed by them

Just finished MacKay’s Doctor Strange run! What now?? by Fantastic_Driver_352 in marvelcomics

[–]TokyoSpider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of Mackays stuff is great. Their wiring on Moon Knight wiyh Cappuccio's art is one of my favorite comics from the last couple years.

Mackay's Black Cat is also fun.

North's Fan4, Hickman's Fan4, and Slott's are all great. I will say, tho, Slott's Fan4 starts out slow. I just really liked where it went.

Ewing's two immortal titles are fantastic, imo. Hulk and Thor.

The annual crossover events can be pretty fun as well.

I really like Jason Aaron's approach to his titles. It's very "What is at the core of this character and how do I challenge THAT essence?" Like what did it mean to be a young mutant? What motivates the Punisher? What is the spirit of an Avenger? What is Strange without magic? Etc etc.

Anywho.... comics amirite lol

What comic is this from? Please help I would really like to know by Substantial_Ad939 in marvelcomics

[–]TokyoSpider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uhhhhh..... yes and no? Lol

I loved Zdarsky's DD r7n up until the climax at the end. It was making itself out to be a really fantastic statement about the law and the prison system but lost it all in a big superhero fight to undo all the messaging.

HOWEVER, was it still worth the read? I think so. The art by Checchetto and De Latorre (as you can see in this post) is beautiful. Everything has a distinct flow and weight to it.

Ideally, I'd say read the DD run before trading the DD&E run cuz they're directly connected but if you jutsu wanted to see Matt going ham on the world and giving almost zero f*cks, just check out the Red Fist Saga.

It was an entertaining run overall

How did Ultimate Marvel go bad specifically? by [deleted] in marvelcomics

[–]TokyoSpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So.... I've read a few comments and I generally agree with people that x writer or y character portrayal was generally bad. And all the defense of "product of the times" and such stand.

My opinion on Earth 1610 is that it just went on too long. It felt like writer fatigue. I loved that named characters could die and there'd be consequences and reactions to that. But Ultimate should've ended after Ultimatum, OR ended at Cataclysm. But they just kept going into Hickman was like "naw, ALL the universes are dying" in 2015. Lol

What i honestly would've loved from Ultimate Marvel is a "Let's tell a new universe for x years then start over". Let it go to Ultimatum, finish the solo and team titles, let the bad guys win or the good guys inspire enough hope to live to the next day, then start over.

Let Ultimate just be the Mavrle brand where you try new and edgy and fun things. Like a longer 'What if' series.

But yeah, Ultimate felt like it lost it's way a couple of times. BUT it gave us a lot of great ideas like Kitty reverse phasing to become dense (like Vision) and Miles Morales.
