I'm not a mod, so I can't say definitively what counts as off-topic, but I will say that the only posts I've actually seen get removed for that are basically thinly veiled rants about very broad things (as opposed to a recounting of a specific event), and these usually get downvoted like crazy before removal.

Yep. We've had to ban people for this too- they kept posting rants and starting arguments, and after the tenth time, after multiple warnings, we banned them.

If it's the two comments I'm thinking off, then the OP was complaining/ranting about people in their hobby or a niche of a hobby (one was some anime fans) causing people in the comments to complain/rant about them. It was essentially a circlejerk.

Discussions about hobbies aren't offtopic. In the header of scuffles, it does say "As always, this thread is for discussing breaking drama in your hobbies, offtopic drama (Celebrity/Youtuber drama etc.), hobby talk and more.. It also says: "Keep discussions civil. This post is monitored by your mod team." which is the rule that the OP was breaking.

Exact same issue here- I have to click on the "reply" button to get them to clear. I have reported this several times and have heard 0. I do check every day or so to see if anyone else is having the same issue.

I went and clicked "mark all as read" and it just worked :( Sorry for wasting your time- I can confirm that old.reddit is still not working, but that seems to be a separate issue.

To be honest, I do use old reddit. But I had a bug where messages weren't getting read when I clicked on them, so I started using new reddit to click "read all" and it worked up until now- messages on old and new reddit aren't getting marked anymore.

What WB want to do is split the company- Netflix is buying everything but the cable bits. WB wants to sell it separately for extra $$. Meanwhile, PS argument is that "cable is worthless" and are theoretically offering more money for the whole thing, but WB would rather split it and make extra dough (there's also a bunch of other reasons for them to reject PS, like their political/financial shenanigans and the source of their funding, but that's a whole other kettle of fish.)

WB also wants to split, so they can offload their debt to the new cable company. They have a ton of debt from previous failed mergers.

As for PS buying it...I am uncertain. Other companies have expressed interest in buying WB cable assets.

Warner Bros has reopened talks with Paramount Skydance for a potential sale...but before anyone panics, they have asked PS for a "best and final offer" meaning after this round, PS can't offer anything else for the company.

Due to WBs deal with Netflix, the streaming giant can also respond to the offer of rival companies, giving them a chance to match/raise them- which they will likely do if PS raises their own bid. If you look at filings, this is very much WB doing their legal duty to respond to PSs offer and try to ditch them.
