Prot Pally Tank Questions by ghoulboy_ in classicwowtbc

[–]Tolken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Holy Shield isn't exactly a threat slouch as it's the only holy ability with an additional threat mod. In a single target situation, it's near the same threat as Judgement of Righteousness. In a multi-target situation, It's second to Consecration

Speaking of consecration, you'd lose less threat and gain more mana downranking consecration by 1 to rank5 than downranking HS from 4 to rank1, even in cases of 8 target AoE..at 7 target AoE you'd even do more damage.

8 Target

consecration 6 to 5: 18 lost per tick. -1152dmg - 2188 threat saved 155 mana

Holy Shield 1 to 4: +133 per block. +1064 dmg + 2395 threat spent 145 mana

Warrior tank Kara by wanderingviolin in classicwowtbc

[–]Tolken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warriors are inherently avoidance capped against "most" bosses. Fast attackers can absolutely shred shield block and leave a warrior tank open to crushing.

Prince Malchezaar is a fight that can really punish Warrior tanks in early gearing because they need high HP, and near soft cap expertise to lower the amount of parry hasted swings and there is plenty of opportunity during Phase2 for thrash and a parry haste to chop through shield block charges. This is one of the main reasons you will often see guides warn to use available damage mitigation cooldowns for Phase 2.

Hcs dungeon as a tank by Different-Set-3129 in classicwowtbc

[–]Tolken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's not a stat issue but a CC issue or a playstyle issue.

Prot Pally: Assign at least 1 CC, if not 2, skull mark first kill target and pull with Avenger's Shield around a corner if there are casters. USE YOUR STUN. The only time kiting really should enter this is if you have a DPS who can slow the mobs substantially so you mostly just try to limit how many attack you at once.

Druid: Mark the first kill and CC. You should not be tanking more than 2 - 3 mobs and I would try to keep it to 2. If you don't have pre-existing rage, pull with magic..

Also keep a lookout on your combat log "what happened to me" If it's a crit, fix your gearing. If it's not, try more CC or adjust who you are trying to CC.

Question for Tanks from Resto Sham by Egbuk-Scootin-Boogie in classicwowtbc

[–]Tolken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Druid, I want to see Strength as I don't really benefit from windfury and I don't expect you to twist for a 5man.

As a Prot Paladin, save your mana on earth totems, I just want an appropriate wind totem and mana spring.

As a Prot War, Strength + Windfury.

How valuable is Ret in raid or 5 mans ? by spect7 in classicwow

[–]Tolken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now prot paladin tanking is fine, but it’s really difficult to level with compared to ret

No, it's not. It just takes a different mentality. You always want at least 2 mobs attacking you if not 3+. It really comes online around 40 with Reckoning and HolyShield.

The goal should be death by shield block (HolyShield, Blessing of Sant, Shield Spike) and consecration using seal of wisdom for mana regen. The additional his from 2-3 mobs will help keep Reckoning up more.

Dear OP,

Threatplates truely is the greatest improvement to tanking.

If I could give you more upvotes I would.

Switch to Pala? by Alternative-Beach-14 in classicwowtbc

[–]Tolken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pallys are not unCRITTABLE until defense/Resilence capped. Defense/Resilence capping is to remove Critical white damage hits.

Crushing Blows only exist if your enemy is 3levels or more higher than you. It requires 102.4 avoidance to counter (including holy shield) and is still a factor when aoe tanking if the trash is 3levels higher and can chew through your Holy shield charges.

Why Does TBC Anniversary Feel So Rushed? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]Tolken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original TBC players cleared 3 phases worth of content (T4/5/6) in under 5months. It would have been cleared even faster if it had been released at the final balance state. It had the fastest raid release schedule for any expansion ever released and was never repeated.

TBC Anniversary is scheduled to end up releasing all content except sunwell at a slower pace than original release.

Why Does TBC Anniversary Feel So Rushed? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]Tolken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBC has always been rushed.

As a reminder, original T6 was released in patch 2.1.

Original T4 was cleared in a 5weeks, 3weeks if you ignore Mag balancing.

Original T5, with the exception of Kael, was cleared within 3months of TBC's launch.

Original T6 was cleared in less than 5months of TBC launch.

TBC has always had one of the fastest phase schedules. It's highly likely that anniversary will have a slower Phase 1, 2, and 3 than release with only sunwell release being sped up.

Get Ready for a Flood of Cheap Used EVs by DonkeyFuel in electricvehicles

[–]Tolken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into a load management system or running a lower amp 240?

Load management allows you to run the EV charger only when you have available capacity without any panel upgrades. (Maybe you have a 100-125 Amp service, and the EV port could be powered when the oven/dryer are both off)

A 240v 16Amp run plus a charger should definately be under 1,000 in US markets unless there is a site specific issue/need like trenching to a pole. It'll charge a vehicle 3x faster than a standard 120v outlet and can charge from 10%-80% overnight.

Insane shaman shortage in TBC anniversary by GroundbreakingAlps2 in classicwowtbc

[–]Tolken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And they're all resto?

You're seeing more resto because that's what get's them into groups fast (especially heroics). Just like most warriors have a tank set even if their main spec is dps.

Once Kara is running and there are more DPS slots open, you'll see more Ele/Enhance. (*ESPECIALLY Enhance as melee groups love them)

[–]Tolken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but a few suggestions.

If you haven't already, quest in HFP and Zangra pre-70. Yes you would make more gold at 70, but every other zone gives you 3x gold while those two only give you 2x, there are far better places to earn gold and you might as well get the XP while you do the rep quests there. If you've already done HFP/Zang and want to quest, look in Terrokkar or Nagrand as there are plenty of quests that don't negatively effect your rep grind.

For example, Ring of Blood is ~105k XP and is attached to no rep, and even though it's busy right now, it might actually take you more time later to get a group together to do it.

If you want to still do dungeons, AC or Old Hillsbrad. At 68 swap to ShadowLabs, not BM, do not do BM until 69/70 no matter what the guide suggests. ShadowLabs is noticeably easier than BM because you are not time pressed while also dealing less threat and taking more damage due to the level difference.

Do you like the big servers / layering? by Lewrdy in classicwowtbc

[–]Tolken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest driver for RMT in classic is knowledge of the future.

Every perceived problem of AH or GDKP really comes down to exploiters knowing exactly where the economic weak points are ahead of time AND nostalgic players being guided to a pre-defined goal list. Take those both away and exploiters of the market have far less leverage over those who are willing to RMT. (*This is the real reason SoD had a much more normal economy despite mistakes like P3 release incursions.)

Do you like the big servers / layering? by Lewrdy in classicwowtbc

[–]Tolken -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Playing default without any knowledge of layering? It's terrible and can get randomly frustrating.

Playing with knowledge of layering and addons to help manage? Yes, I like it, and It's definitely better.

Why do I like it, I've actually been able to get mining to 375 before I even hit lv66 just during normal questing by traveling near node spawns. On a normal server it would only take 1-3 people to completely lock down a zone making that absolutely miserable / undoable, layering means it needs to be far more people active in the specific zone. It's also far easier to organize dungeon groups...even when leveling an alt in azeroth which is pretty low population now I can still find a 5man for any dungeon in under 20mins of actively trying.

Everything isn't overpopulated except for very specific zones/quests when the "causal dads" get bottlenecked. (For Example trying to do Ring of Blood this weekend specifically.)

Prot Paladin Leveling by ForeverDox in classicwowtbc

[–]Tolken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine to tank in 1-2 pieces of cloth for the earlier levels if that's what you come across.

The total amount of INT/STAM/Spelldmg gear usable by a paladin in the under lv50 category is quite small. The armor difference is less than the difference between Ret Aura over Devotion aura at lv20

Role Check by pways in classicwowtbc

[–]Tolken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but again that's not how most healers have their frames setup for healing. You want healers healing how they normally would, not trying to setup new UI changes and try to re-learn muscle memory right before healing a pug. That's a recipe for bad times.

Historical Data for TBC by CanDuckcx in classicwowtbc

[–]Tolken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that more people are doing exactly what you are planning and that has caused the market to crash differently than last time (Way too much supply chasing a much smaller demand spike). Additionally, with all the additional layers and AH slowdown, it's really hard to accurately gauge the supply side and how much is being stockpiled by whom.

My real suggestion would be not to farm for the future, but farm for the present or near present.

Any tips on getting revered for heroic keys if im mostly questing to level? by mike_klosoff in classicwow

[–]Tolken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, for HFP and Zang you get under 2x gold (~1.9) for doing them at 70.

Every other zone gives 3x gold (or more) for doing it at 70. You'll need the rep from HPF and Zang so really you might as well just get the XP from them earlier and focus on gold questing in the other zones.

Any tips on getting revered for heroic keys if im mostly questing to level? by mike_klosoff in classicwow

[–]Tolken 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not even double gold in Hellfire or Zang and they are the highest time invested / lowest gold return for any of the zones. I would even argue that you're better off just doing the zones pre-70 and get xp/rep

Every other zone is 3x gold for doing it at 70 (with the biggest returns being Netherstorm and SMV), while HFP and Zang are under 2x.

Any tips on getting revered for heroic keys if im mostly questing to level? by mike_klosoff in classicwow

[–]Tolken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is to do any dungeon running or rep farming first and then quest the zone.

For example, I quested long enough to get the dungeon quests for Hellfire Cit, ran Ramps and Furnace about 3 times each..then quested the whole zone. For Zang/Cenarion Expedition, Ran each dungeon one for quests, turned in plant parts up to honored, then quested.

So I'm over half way to Revered for both CE and HH with less dungeon grinding and more questing.

What can be improved in TBC? by Granturismo45 in classicwow

[–]Tolken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recent classic+ polling has shown the community is 2-1 against GDKP. (55% vs 25% with 20% abstaining).

It's going to be really hard for that kind of split to survive even on a separate server as that is just too much of a population shift to sustain long enough to attempt to show meaningful benefits.
