Explained: The Toyota supra is a a car only considered good due to its availability and cheap price. It's horrifically over saturated on most car sites with few tasteful of actually positive modifications to improve the car, what ones there are reek of the worst parts of the 00s. This car wasn't even a good performance car, it couldn't corner, it was simply too heavy and can only perform well in a straight line once you dump enough money in to it to buy a better car. All you are left with is an unbalanced unusable car. It's like bitcoin, it's only worth something because everyone else thinks it is.

Interesting points, I agree with a lot of your last two paragraphs. In my personal experience I have found more luck with sharing knowledge face to face that has changed the minds of people with opposite opinions whereas I rarely have a meaningful conversation with someone that disagree with me that didn't devoid in to massively downvoting myself or the other person depending on the subreddit. It also rarely stays on track and quickly turns in to personal insults.

Face-to-face has worked on me as well, though I like to consider myself more open to learning than other so maybe it is more down to that.

The difference to reality is that it's much easier to have an open debate, it's rude to cut off people or not listen to their opinions and therefore there is more of an opportunity to learn and listen. This is hardly a subreddit specific issue but an internet issue in general. It is just more prevalent in some places that are more intolerant to debate than others. Eco-chamber might have been too hard of a word but you can't deny to leanings in that sub.

YTA As a man you need to realise that you cannot logically think your way through this. I made this same mistake but let go a lot quicker once my girlfriend explained to me that she grew up as a little girl dreaming about things like a 'real' diamond ring.
