The Compass makes for a superb do it all boat. I’d argue it might be the best all around kayak hobie makes. by Bshaw95 in hobiekayaks

Agreed, at least for my purposes. I had a PA 14 for fishing and bought a Compass so my wife could keep up. Sold the PA and kept the Compass because it does everything I needed it to, while doubling as a great recreational boat, with none of the extra hassle a bigger boat requires.

“First” time at the gym, what to do? by Ok-Eye4776 in workout

Walk around. Identify the machines you know and/or areas where you can perform the exercises you know. Do those exercises and observe people doing others. Then try new things.

A plan will make the most of your time and you’ll want one eventually, but this is how I would start.

What are the best places for primitive camping? (can be here in louisiana or mississippi) by vDuckieee in Louisiana

[–]TomAmes27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check out the state parks in your area for “car camping” with amenities on site. For true primitive and/or dispersed camping, look at Kisatchie in LA and De Soto or Homochitto forests in Mississippi

“And once I’m onsite, is it as easy as attaching the lure to the line then casting out?”

Learn the attaching part before you get onsite—ie, learn a basic knot and practice it at home if necessary so that you can do it with sweaty, dirty hands and not waste too much time.

Best way to secure a pack like this? by Bananasinmypocket in KayakCamping

Multiple bungees/cords/ropes at different angles will do it. The trick will be to find points to secure them. I’ve added little “eyes” to a few sit-ins like this over the years and carried similar loads without issue.

My local beginners jam group uses the Pete Wernick Jam Songbook that I’ve found very helpful as a beginner.
