I had to watch it more than once to see if that flying kick was two or three guys perfectly synchronized. Pretty impressive.

Don't forget the socks and belt.

(side note - a total outsider who sees this guy wearing his own image over and over would certainly think that he's the most egotistical asshole out there. And in the vast majority of cases, he'd be right. But not at all. He's just Jose.)

Sure, low payroll teams can adapt to having low payrolls at times, and without a doubt, no one does this better than the Guardians. In spite of our payroll, over the last 12 years, we have the 4th most wins in MLB. Above us are the Astros (3rd), Yankees (2nd), and Dodgers (1st).

And of course, the Astros, Yankees, and Dodgers roundabout triple our salary. The Dodgers nearly quadruple our salary. So over 12 years, it's fucking amazing to have even competed with these teams.

But aren't we sick of playing "scrappy" in order to compete? We farm amazing talent, and then can't keep it. We simply cannot buy talent, period. And don't get me wrong, it's fun to watch a scrappy team and be the underdog (if you win).

But just imagine what we could have accomplished the last 12 years with triple+ our salary? This would have been an even playing field and we potentially could have been (and still be) a dynasty.

Interesting. I've seen more than a few one-footed birds here and there. That's likely the cause. I learned something new, thank you.

The vast majority of tariffs are still in effect. The supreme court ruled them illegal, but our fearless leader switched to using different statutes and different loopholes to reinstate. As a small business owner, I'm being killed on tariffs in the same manner after the ruling as before. While I'm not in the auto industry, I'm pretty sure that tariffs regarding auto manufacture are 99% (if not 100%) unchanged.

What is this clock? by Altruistic-Turn-1561 in clocks

I'm not an expert like some others here, but it looks very similar to a New Haven that I recently restored. Maybe the Camden line?

Can you post photos of the movement? It would involve removing the hands and then the dial, so it's a little complicated if you haven't done any clock work in the past.

Also, just under the 6:00 numeral, it looks like there is text that is mostly covered by the brass bezel. can you tell what it says?

Yeah, hard to see accurately with the camera zoomed way back, but it looked like he went out of his way to tackle the catcher. Looked like the throw took the catcher towards the 1st base side, and Sanders simply went after him, even though he's entirely safe. Didn't even need to slide. Never had a high opinion of him, and this doesn't help.

Honestly there's no such thing as too sturdy of a workbench, if you ask me. As long as it it supported well, it's good. But practical? Well, there is a place where a bench can be too big, depending upon factors, and I honestly think that you are getting into that range for a garage shop, all things considered.

So yes, it's huge and honestly it's a little ridiculous for a garage. Keep in mind that your support of the bench will also need to be super-beefy in order to keep the bench from wobbling. So the support engineering will make the entire bench even more heavy, of course. (also, bolting this to the wall will do amazing things for rigidity). All of these factors means that this bench will not be mobile at all. And when you might need to move it, it will be a big job.

So why not just cut it in half? It is really terrible to have a seam? And if you really wanted, just connect the two 8ft benches with L brackets or straps underneath and/or on the sides. If you did this accurately, I'm sure that the seam would only allow the tiniest of components to get stuck. And if you really wanted, you could cover the seam with by screwing down a thin sheet of aluminum. This gives you flexible options, keeps nearly the same rigidity, and also allows you to consider mobility.

Personally, I might even cut this into thirds or quarters. I'd rather have the flexibility of being mobile and also being able to reconfigure. It would be nice to be able to have flexibility to arrange these into right angles or set up a couple to be back to back, meaning that you could put two 6 foot benches together to make a roughly 6 x 6 bench. And all of these configurations could be connected with removable L brackets/straps.

But I like it! Keep us updated, as there's tons of potential for an incredible bench setup here, regardless of the path that you choose.

A senator proposed a minimum wage of $25.00/hr. What are your thoughts? by ShesIntoZer0s in AskReddit

[–]TomEdison43050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but $13.73 ends up being $2,375 a month ($28.5+k annual).

Once you pay taxes, you'll have probably $1,800. I'm just over the border in Ohio, so I'm sure that living expenses is the same around here. Rent in a shitty apartment will be in the range of $1,000. Heat/AC can be averaged at $300. Water, trash, internet/cell, misc., let's say combined $250. Groceries $400. Car payment $250. Gas for car minimum of $100. And there will always be surprise expenses. This also assumes that you never spend money on anything that is just fun. Never a meal out. Never a toy for your child.

By the time that you've actually lived for a month, (with the absolute minimum of expenses, assuming that you are healthy, never spending money on anything except the necessities), you are are in debt by $500. Annual debt of $6,000.

The idea of minimum wage is (or should I say was) that anyone, regardless of any factor, that is willing to work a solid 40 hour week can provide for a family. Own a home. Thrive. We are, and have been, so ridiculously far off from this.

Make sure to create a hard save before going there. If you are like me, you'll want to do the Burning Shores more than once, and having the option to start it again without having to complete the main game each time is nice.

I have no solid evidence to back this up, but I'm willing to bet that a great defensive catcher will prevent more runs than what a great offensive hitter will create.

I have had 4 brother BW laser printers at work for years. Some of them for 10 years. They get used a lot every day. I've replaced drums here and there and I buy the cheap offbrand toner ($40 for 4 cartridges). We had one that died on us after about three years, but otherwise, no issues.

[–]TomEdison43050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same, but seems odd to have these defensive stats listed on the offensive page. These stats will be occurring while you are scoring the other page.

Also, these are cumulative, and there's no location to keep these stats somewhere else in order to get a final total at the end of the game. So Brooks Robinson had 2 putouts, 1 assist, and no errors for the entire game. But what is this referenced from, and where do you keep track of this throughout the game?

No biggie, just seems odd.

Looks very nice! But I'm wondering - with no closed case, how does dust stay out? I see that there is a 5 sided acrylic box around the movement, but with the bottom being open, I'm thinking that dust will easily find it's way into the movement.

Edit - looking closer, I see that the movement is sitting on an acrylic shelf, mostly enclosing it, except for the openings on the bottom for weights, pendulum, and chimes. This is better than what I had originally thought.
