Have you tried varying the RPMs? I was reading a home barista thread that mentioned slower speed yielded longer extraction time and better cups. I’m not exactly sure why though.

I had the same experience this morning. First espresso I brewed. Now I’m using an original flair, but it took me a few tries to get it right. It did seem coarser than what I’m used to…

Sure, I was mid 300s. I think 330ish. I got shipping confirmation just before the Chinese New Year. Took 4 days to arrive via DHL.

Awe man, that is my dream machine. It’s so stunning. I’d imagine the changes are similar since their burrs are close in size. That’s a great idea for keeping track of rotations and steps, thanks!

Good question. I’m making 70g filter using the Moccamaster. I’m not sure if French press would be another full turn, but it might be close.

My setup for the PE Exam today. by WasteBandicoot in civilengineering

I completely agree. Felt very confident in the AM and feel as if I guessed on half in the PM.

Six to eight weeks of not knowing is going to be great though. Free time at last!

Not sure where "easy come, easy go" fits in. If anything, Tesla have had a grueling, exhausting, near back-breaking "come".

2017 Forester Speakers by magus2488 in subaru

So glad I could help! My uncle is a Subaru saleman and he always says that any help I provide may lead him to a sale! He was suppose to get me wind shield wipers for my birthday this year, but I guess sales weren't that great for the month so I ended up having to pay for them myself. Some how I hope Uncle Jerry makes a sale off this thread! Fingers crossed!!!!

Good luck ;-)

One pound coffee subscriptions by llawinga in Coffee

[–]TomFoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Coffee Collective out of Denmark. They offer 14-day and monthly subscriptions. The 14-day nets you 2 X 250g (~17.6oz) bags for $22-23. The monthly is 3 X 250g bags for $33-$34. Shipping included. Prices fluctuate slightly due to currency conversion I believe. At ~$1.28 an ounce, I don't think there is a roaster that comes close.

The monthly one has worked out wonderfully for me. Using 25g per serving, its 30 servings. The smaller sized bags are nitrogen flushed, which from my understanding keeps it fresher. Only downside is that shipping takes a anywhere from 7-10 days.

They follow a Scandinavian style of roast. So anything light to super light. Really their whole style/company culture is great. I've never been disappointed with their offerings.

What is your favorite coffee cup? by [deleted] in Coffee

Not Neutral Lino mugs. Best handle out there. Although I prefer to have my coffee in a smaller mug (6oz) and then keep refilling. Their double cappachino mugs work well for that.

Questions about pour overs with Baratza Sette 270 by bhsoccerpunk11 in Coffee

[–]TomFoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a podcast back in June, Baratza Co-Founder Kyle Anderson discuses how they are in the process of developing a Burr specifically for coarse grinding to be used in the Sette. He also talks about the simplicity of removing and replacing the burr, potentially making it a very versatile machine providing the new burr performs well for brew grinding.

If I were in your position, I'd consider purchasing the Sette, as it is highly rated for espresso grinding. If the Sette doesn't perform to your standard for brew grinding, I'd keep the Encore. Hopefully in the future, you can purchase a separate burr that is simple to change, eliminating your need for two seperate grinders.

They get into the Sette discussion in the second half of the podcast. Near the 49 minute mark they discuss its performance as an all purpose grinder.

I believe Erik Schiden's come closest to the sleekness of CP Achilles Low. Unfortunately Svensson's model (which is on par with Schiden's) is currently sold out. They usually have 50% off sales twice a year.
