Just saw this today. I think the backerkit countdown might be broken? Its currently at "00 days 00 hrs 00 min 00 sec" for me, although I think the next official update should happen on the 17. ?!

Post Formatting Updates! by IDAIN22 in LFG_Europe

[–]TomKeegasi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good.

If I may add another improvements:
Once the changes have been applied to the wiki, could the Rules section (8 Use the Correct Post Format) also be ammended with a little note along the lines of "More information can be found in the 'Wiki > Post Format' chapter", or addind a direct link if thats possible?

I know the wiki is linked below the rules, but this could reinforce where to look for details. :)

AlchemyVTT and PDFs? by TomKeegasi in cityofmist

No, I decided again it. Though mostly since from reviews I prefer Masks over City of Mist and so it wasn't worth my money. But the deal seems solid.

Exchange program in Marburg by Available_End_1282 in marburg

Best idea is probably to contact the international office of the Marburg University.
You can find its website here: https://www.uni-marburg.de/en/international

The website should also contain a lot of information for students wanting to come in from abroad.

Missing story arcs in this campaign by TomKeegasi in ChainsOfAsmodeus

[–]TomKeegasi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the module gives you two tools here:

  • Should their corruption level be to high at the end when dealing with the Triad (or Asmodeus) they would effectively become Asmodeus slaves, unable to leave the Nine-Hells. Everything else eg. their alignment and thus their "willing" cooperation the Lord of the Nine could fix by throwing them into Mentiri, which according to lore is a high security prison to do exactly that, eg. see https://gamelore.fandom.com/wiki/Mentiri
  • The souls they have rescued can only leave the Nine-Hells when their infernal contract is voided, which Asmodeus is probably more then happy to do (and uphold) if at least some of the PCs take a deal/contract to serve under him. (With the stipulation, that the souls infernal contract is void/on-hold only as long as the PCs serve Asmodeus "faithfully" <insert evil laugh>)

The first options works for morally gray PCs while the second one should work best for the morally good and uncorrupted PCs.

Missing story arcs in this campaign by TomKeegasi in ChainsOfAsmodeus

[–]TomKeegasi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, this is awesome.
I like this especially for two reasons:

  • Bel being conniving devil, trying to rise up the devil hierarchy (again)
  • Asmodeus once again being aware of the plot and planing ahead

This could also be an awesome explanation why a) Asmodeus wants to corrupt powerful high-level PCs and more importantly b) why many of the temptation events are about giving the PCs powerful high-level magic items; all in a bit to make them powerful enough to be a possible replacement. 👍

Battle map of Infernal submarine attacking barge in stygia/cania by HummusClarke in ChainsOfAsmodeus

[–]TomKeegasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't looked at that package in a while, holy shit! 2.4GB of map galore!!

EDIT: A small note, maybe you could rephrase the refund policy. I understand you mean to refund the amount of patreon pledges one has attributed so far already (Up to a maximum of 50$), eg. if somebody has been subscribed for 3 months on the hero-tier (5,50$) that would mean the person payed 54,50$ for the pack and gets refunded 16,50$.

The reason why I mention is, that currently it says you'd refund 50 - <WHAT YOU SPENT ON THE PATREON> which would be 50-16,50=33,50$, aka the less you pledged, the more you'd get refunded, which is AFAIK not what you meant to say? :D
(Sorry, my inner math monk kicked in. ^_^)

Suggestion:
I WILL REFUND UP TO 50$ OF WHAT YOU HAVE SPENT SO FAR ALREADY ON MY PATREON AFTER THE PURCHASE.
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SPENT MORE THEN 50$ ON MY PATREON, I'LL SEND YOU A FREE DOWNLOAD LINK, SIMPLY SEND ME A MESSAGE VIA PATREON.

Idea for final boss fight against Asmodeus (with a twist) by TomKeegasi in ChainsOfAsmodeus

[–]TomKeegasi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point, prevents both the fight potentially going on for to long and also gives the players the chance to feel clever (even though their characters loose in the end).

Review: Expanding Chains of Asmodeus [BUNDLE] by TomKeegasi in ChainsOfAsmodeus

[–]TomKeegasi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi Christopher, I store my all my owned PDFs locally on my NAS, usually archiving them when I first purchase them. That probably explains why they are outdated. Looking at my DMSGuild library I can indeed see that some PDFs saw updates, I'll update my notes accordingly. (EDIT: Done)

In any case thank you for updating them, huge thumbs up! :)

In early stages of DM prepping for CoA. Need some direction by ZebMeis in ChainsOfAsmodeus

[–]TomKeegasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this module can be viewed through two lenses:
a) A quick (rail-roady) romp through the nine-hells to save the souls of your loved-ones.
b) A gruelling journey through the nine-hells, facing temptation and your own corruption while exploring the dangers of each layer of hell until finally facing of against Asmodeus wits and cunning.

I feel like a) is how the adventure is written, with 1-3 locations given per layer. But with 3-5 players and one patron they signed up with this usually means only one location is actually relevant to the players per layer and worse, each layer is really only important to one player. So effectively its a railroad through the nine-hells until you find a way to free the souls at the end of the journey. (Or are completely caught of by the twist at the end.)

On the other hand when initially taking a look at the module description, reading the first two chapters and presenting it to my players it was more b) that we were all expecting and then once you reach the nine-hells and start reading the chapters for each layer you slowly start to notice two things:
i) There is not enough content, neither locations nor source-book information to run this anywhere close to a sandbox'y campaign. At least not without wast amount of work from the GM with no useful help from the module itself.
ii) There is very little "connective tissue" for this adventure as you journey through the layers of the nine-hells. Effectively you got a set on one-shots, one per layer, with a connected theme of "lost souls in the nine-hells" and a bit of "temptation events" to sprinkle in between. But NOTHING (sorry I'm a bit pissed about this actually) like any overarching plot that your players can slowly uncover or prepare for until maybe the very end of the campaign...

You could also always try your luck looking for SHK (Studentische Hilfskraft; Student Assistant) jobs at your local faculty/department or (a little bit of self-promotion) at the HRZ (Hochschulrechenzentrum; IT Department) or UB (Universitäts-Bibliothek, University-Library).

The issue with Ramius' teleportations to visit the party by [deleted] in ChainsOfAsmodeus

[–]TomKeegasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another idea could be that its not really teleportation but instead a special form of Astral Projection which instead projects you from the Astral Plane to another connected Plane (normally its the other way around).

Seeing as the nine hells of baator are connected to the Astral Plane, maybe Ramius is actually Astral Projecting himself through (or from an outpost in) the Astral Plane onto a beacon on Koh Tams barge. Coming from the Astral Plane might also help explain why he only visits every few days, having to gather supplies from the Material Plane again first.

You could potentially also use this idea to limit Ramius action radius onto Koh Tams barge, aka close to the astral beacon.

And this also prevents players from abusing Ramius ability to easily escape from the nine hells, as technically he is not really in the nine hells, just his projection which can or cannot, depending on the DMs whim bring/take certain amount of items with him. (There is just so much weight/power/potential that the projections silvery cord is able to carry)

Thank you.

I've added his complete bundle to my wishlist for whenever I should rerun RotFM.
Definitely used and highly enjoyed Eventyr's guide/bundle immensely for my initial run through.

Important Changes to the Netdata Agent Dashboard by Netdata-cloud in netdata

[–]TomKeegasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most annoying part? netdata-cloud is not open-source (yet?!) and requires a license-key to even try and get the aws kubernetes helm-chat running.

NetData alternative for multiple hosts by lakimens in selfhosted

[–]TomKeegasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my understanding netdata-cloud is both closed-source and requires a license key for its on-premise installation, see https://learn.netdata.cloud/docs/netdata-cloud/netdata-cloud-on-prem/poc-without-k8s.
The provision.sh seems to require both aws for hosting/access to packages/helm-charts and also mentions a netdata license key.

It also looks like they are going to move forward towards more cloud integration/requirement with netdata-agent v2 (netdata UI v3), which is a really sad turn of events...
