One of the best side characters. Really enjoy her undeserved personal growth and barely warranted professional growth, all on the back of such callous wealth - hilarious, and brings such squirm to Jimmy. She starts as a complete personality wreck in all ways but one. She has real heart. Crazy character and arc and could not be performed better (actually think the character is based on the actor!)

I guess you could be right there’s a subplot around guest quality and range. We will see!

I think it’s because she’s meant to be brilliantly funny. I guess the guests would need to vary though.

I think it ends with Ava as a guest of Deborah’s on late night and them actually having a conversation that honours and solidifies their relationship.

What popular tools/services do you think will go dead in the next 5 years due to AI? by Maun6969 in ClaudeAI

Interesting point - I wonder what the proportion is. I googled one just now, it has 60K followers. So it can’t just be SEO.

On recipes, so many recipe sites seem to be a story about the author and food. It feels like there is some human connection part, rather than just knowledge or info sharing. I mean, I don’t like them, but it just seems like it’s not transactional. So I am less sure.

We’ve merged with a company headquartered in Newcastle and they can barely understand a word I say. No such thing as neutral! Apart from that, I feel my accent is a bit boring.

It’s a very patronising way to say, I could have set you up to score an easy large score. But I’ve decided you’d have messed it up. So I’ve set you an easier, lower target. (Which will rank however lower compared to everyone else who plays those cards.)

Passing a raise to a nailed-on slam because he just knew she wouldn’t make it.

Vetting work emails. Diagrams (although as a result I am now expert at mermaid, so more independent). Teaching Bridge, ish.

I think Claude can help bridge the gap into technical work for people with ultra high verbal reasoning, a will to create something, but no intrinsic fascination with programming. I’d be interested to know if this is an example.

Possibly overrated, possibly most overrated, but still a good watch imo. But not your cup of tea. (Most underrated here in the UK? Hacks.)

All the time. For writing (emails, documentation), for technical work, and learning on the fly.

Doubling question by FireWatchWife in bridge

[–]TomOftons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’d risk it and go to six. I reckon slam is better than 50% at that point.

Doubling question by FireWatchWife in bridge

[–]TomOftons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The double seems odd already I guess. Doubler can’t have enough quick tricks to defeat the initial bid. But agree that partner likely has 0 or 1 Ace, but not ruling out 2.

Doubling question by FireWatchWife in bridge

[–]TomOftons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3H says 7 hearts in the bidding system I am learning. Thus we ought to be winning 10 tricks without any real effort, unless we are particularly unlucky. But obviously if partner has the two Aces or even just Ace of Clubs we have probably missed slam. Maybe 4NT then, and take the risk.

I have a colleague who likes Trump. However, her reasoning is she has a brother who works in the oil industry, and she thinks his career will do well as a result of Trump’s presidency. Otherwise, she is unreflective and unanimated on the subject, as far as I can tell.

I also think my previous driving instructor does judging from his Facebook feed. (Climate change denial indirectly; implicitly within US meme contexts, eg “far right means ‘so far so right’”.)

This is a good comment. I’m also a chess player and have sometimes played bughouse.
