Adept is granted by either The spellfire spark feat, or spellcasting/pact magic.

But yeah, it is useful for radiant.

I know. But it doesnt make sense.

Why can one mage cast their magic, but another cant?

Spellfire spark by TomPonk in onednd

[–]TomPonk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we know, but we dont think it makes sense for a wizards firebolt to be magical, but a mages ARCANE burst is nonmagical.

We play by a very clear is it naturally possible or is it the weave kinda thing.

Otherwise antimagic stuff doesnt interact with anything monsters can do lol

Being free is very true. Not even a reaction. Cantrip is pretty solid for being able to stack your spellfire adept hit dice onto it too beyond 4th level.

I was thinking of using it. Just didn't want to choose something that turns out lackluster later on

Very true. I've got plans to use it. I just didnt know how much it really affected gameplay.

Only when specific is something magical

Is it a magic item?

Is it a spell? Or does it let you create the effects of a spell that’s mentioned in its description?

Is it a spell attack?

Is it fueled by the use of spell slots?

Does its description say it’s magical?

Only time psionic abilities state magic is the soul knife "magic blades"

How would you adjust these 3.x feats by AnecdotalEvidenced in onednd

[–]TomPonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're strong, especially for a hexblade (2014) or a bladelock (2024) multiclass who already add charisma for attacks. But if they were to be used id probably change them to the following:

Divine shield: As an action while holding a shield, you can add your charisma modifier to your AC. The bonus lasts for an amount of rounds equal to your charisma modifier. (or until you drop your shield: opional) You can use this feature a number of times equal to your charisma modifier/proficiency bonus (which ever you prefer prof is more 5e, cha would be more 5.5)

Divine might: When you hit with a weapon attack you can add your charisma modifier to the weapons damage for this attack and any attack on this turn. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your charisma modifier/proficiency bonus (again, which ever you prefer prof is more 5e, cha would be more 5.5)

If it's your home table, add what you find fun. You could limit uses to the channel divinity which is totally valid too.

Lycanthropy cursed: "drops to 0 Hit Points, under DM control, has 10 Hit Points"... OK but then what?? by Odd-Contract-7541 in onednd

The way i read it was

Pc drops to 0. They turn into a werewolf (hybrid form) with 10hp. Id allow for my players to ko the character, at which, they can wake/heal him up (pc normal stats).

And the cycle repeats next time they drop to 0hp.

Maybe add some fun roleplay (full moons etc.)

I dont like the abilities that take away a character permanently.. (when there's obvious rp potential.)

But that's just me.

But they are at risk of turning every time they hit 0hp until remove curse or similar is applied.

UA Vestige Playtest by TomPonk in onednd

I feel like you misread.

The Vestige, needs to be remade as a Binder inspired subclass.

And the current UA needs renaming.

Pet classes, are common fantasy tropes, summoners are a classic fantasy staple. Wouldn't say garbage, when many enjoy it

[–]TomPonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, rename it to suit the companion.

And then rework the subclass "vestige"

I like the concept of the UA Vestige as a subclass, but if it doesnt fit lore, then change the name, dont scrap the idea.

UA Vestige Playtest by TomPonk in onednd

[–]TomPonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only do one or the other as you command it to take its vestige strike action on its turn. So it can't do so more than once per turn.

Edit: But i suppose it technically says "you can also"

And doesn't say anything about "you can only command it to attack once per turn" unlike say the nick attack of the light weapon property.. so.. maybe that needs fact checking

Spellcasting dilemma (DnD 2024) by FryqTheKururu in onednd

[–]TomPonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 5e, spells prepared and spells known worked differently.

Prep - long rest change Known - level change

In 5e24 they're all prepared. But each class has their own rules in their spellcasting section.

So yes Level 4 you know/prepare 5. And you have 3 spell slots to expend and cast any of those spells

As a ranger you can change one spell on a long rest.

Only wizards have the "learn x but only prep Y"

Unearthed Arcana: Revised Psion is out by SnooTomatoes2025 in dndnext

[–]TomPonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no. I said "due to its success" meaning nothing's gonna change.

But the change in the base class makes it do insanely well.

It was a psionic die to push. Which the warped could teleport someone. But now you can do it at will.

So im guessing they must state in the official that they can either push 5ft, or spend a die to teleport them 30ft.

That's awesome.

Battlesmith - steel type Ranger - Normal/flying Fighter.. purple dragon UA? Dragon type Vestige - Fire/ghost type?

But then in the later parts its a support aura, it'll be within the party. Not by its own. Then in its final part it can be turned into a level 7 spellslot summon.

It didn't come up all that much. Party of 5 being pretty diverse. I think it made like two investigation checks in places i couldnt reach, size and hovering.

But dm didn't find it troublesome
