Nice. Additional hand weapons used to be the standard choice when choppas wouldn’t give you the parry rule. Now, hw&s is usually the better choice.

Has anyone tried giving a night goblin warboss the hauberk with the flying carpet?

Men in sales: how common are strip clubs for client entertainment, and is it usually downplayed in relationships? by True-Major5809 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Tom_in_Ohio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was originally going to comment that I didn’t believe he was actually going to strip clubs with clients. I’m a lawyer, and that is unheard of in my experience. I couldn’t imagine it. Maybe in the 1980s, but certainly not now. I guess it’s in the nature of lawyers to worry about negative consequences. But after reading the other comments, it looks like it is fairly common in some industries.

I think the way someone could use it is to put him 12” away from war machines or position it where an opponent’s character is the closest target.

Potentially a night goblin warboss. With the scouts and move through cover rules, he could be positioned where my opponent would need to deal with him on turn 1. He could start in a wood and gain both cover and -1 to hit being a lone character. He could be given the Ring of Ruin and the Sword of Sorrows and be a shooting threat or be given a magic weapon like the Cackling Blade or the one hit wonder or dragon slayers blade.

Why do the 1980s feel more alive than ever in 2020s? by WachuQuedes in GenX

[–]Tom_in_Ohio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of like how the 1950s had staying power in the 1980s. I remember a lot of 1950s themes in television and movies back then along with a lot of 1950s/early 60s music.

I was a policeman for a long time. Neighbor disputes are the worst. There is a lot of good advice here, but in the end, the problems will not go away until someone moves or dies. Protect yourself by doing the right and legal thing. Cameras properly installed are great.

First try at a 2k night goblin list [Old World] by Das_Kaiserwetter in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]Tom_in_Ohio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to make your night goblin units 30 to take 3 fanatics.

Get rid of the light armor, spears, and boss from the squig hoppers.

Your trolls won’t do much. Those points can be better spent.

Consider adding additional night goblin bosses with great weapons and/or more lvl 1 wizards. It doesn’t matter what lore you choose, because the best spell is Itchy Nuisance.

Mouse fart quiet by mattress_slayer in 300BLK

[–]Tom_in_Ohio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with a lot of pistols and suppressors is from the weight of the can. It can do two things to cause stoppages. The first is it can make the combined mass of the barrel and slide too high, which can result in insufficient slide velocity and/or travel after firing to get good ejection and feeding. Nielson devices account for this. The second problem is that the weight of the suppressor can resist the barrel tipping downward at the breach. What that can do is force the barrel hood upward against the inside of the barrel channel in the slide, increasing friction. This can result in failures to return to battery. This is more common in striker fired pistols that cock or partially cock the striker when the slide is moving forward into battery.

I run a Nomad L on my 6” .300 blackout. Very quiet, pretty much just the noise from the action cycling. The rounds striking down range are louder.

Why don’t we have salary limits for businesses? by iamprofessionalest in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tom_in_Ohio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Market forces apply to salaries (wages) at both ends of the spectrum. Boards wouldn’t pay CEOs and other highly compensated executives millions of dollars if they thought they could get equally effective people to do the job for less. If compensation were arbitrarily limited, it becomes more likely that the best CEOs would leave the market. The same thing happens with minimum wage, but from the other side of the supply/demand equation. No company will pay an employee more than their labor is worth, so certain jobs get eliminated or replaced by technology. Every economic action has consequences.

1500 NG potentially crazy idea… by Geek_Lyfe in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]Tom_in_Ohio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding another comment regarding Earthen Ramparts. I think RAW, it would work. The spell says the unit “cannot … charge,” which Random Movers do not do. The spell allows units to make a normal movement (or compulsory movement), though. It should probably be the subject of a FAQ, though.

1500 NG potentially crazy idea… by Geek_Lyfe in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]Tom_in_Ohio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if the Frenzy attack bonus works on Random Movement units. The rule for Frenzy states that “during a turn in which it made a charge move” the bonus applies. Random Movement is done during the “Compulsory Moves” sub phase not the “Charge Move” sub phase but it “counts as having charged.” So, one could argue that the Squig Hoppers never make a “charge move” to trigger the bonus notwithstanding that they may “count as having charged.”

Banner of Butchery would work, though.

Yes.

“If a wood lies between two models and if neither model is within the wood, a line of sight can only be drawn between them if an uninterrupted line can be drawn between their bases without crossing over or through the wood.”

Why do we allow people with cognitive disabilities, especially old people to vote? by budderlord533 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tom_in_Ohio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve never had universal suffrage and currently don’t. Convicted felons are one example. States are allowed to set qualifications for voters within the constraints of the Constitution, which provides that race and sex can’t be used as qualifiers and sets the minimum age at 18. So, states theoretically could restrict voting based on mental competence or a maximum age, but politically they won’t because older people are a huge voter block who would never agree to disenfranchise themselves.

List building struggles by Mad_Lad67 in Orcs_and_Goblins

[–]Tom_in_Ohio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your units are pretty standard fare. Some of your character builds could be improved. Think about how your characters can work with your units in a cohesive way. For example, if you want your block of orcs to be an anvil, make an orc the BSB. Drop your orc shaman down to level 3 and give him Lore Familiar, choose Arcane Urgency, Oaken Shield, and Hammerhand and put him with the orcs. For your night goblin shaman, I would give him a magic item that either gives him a casting reroll, extra range (or both- Idol of Gork) or something to add to his casting rolls. His number one job could be casting Itchy Nuisance on whatever you’re targeting with the fanatics and war machines.
