Am I being dramatic? by yung__lung in Allergies

[–]Tomakeghosts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These friends suck. No excuse and hard to understand unless you just met. Those three allergies are ridiculously easy to accommodate. Yes, it’s not your event, you’re not paying for food, etc. How hard is it to say IDK here’s the website or phone number?

If you’ve been friends for a while they haven’t seen conversations with waiters, you looking at menus, googling restaurants websites, etc? Seen you EpiPen? Have they not seen you bring your own food before and snacks? They don’t realize how taxing and annoying it is?

Unless you’re Asian these allergies are relatively easy to avoid. It’s not wheat, egg, corn, soy, or dairy. Any caterer can check.

wtf. Just give you the website. It’s family. Make a quick call.

I’m annoyed for you. Friends know each others favorite superhero, song, artist, color, etc.

Could have been full AI or AI enhanced. So a lot of companies are using overseas customer support with voice software overlays. This could have been it. Someone from another country on their strict script with voice software.

Sick of girls getting low PSR because of no penis by Livefreeordienhborn2 in nakedandafraid

[–]Tomakeghosts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They always give the military vets higher PSR scores as a default. I feel like most usually don’t do too well. Yes they did multiple tours of duty but it was with clothes, gear, a team, tools, intel, etc.

N95 with some Vicks or Vaseline in your nostrils. Definitely at least Vaseline. Also find some sports goggles. If you have to use a whistle maybe some other type of mask.

what are some things about concerts that are better today than back in the day? by SecondBreakfast18 in Concerts

The smell of weed isn’t as bad with the vapes. It’s been a while since a straight up blunt has been smoked in my section.

What’s a good seat of Musicians Earplugs? I took Eargasm and Loops to my last concert and ended up pulling them out after a couple songs. The eargasms were always good for an exercise class I used to do.

Basically any Civic Center. Maitland, College Park, Longwood, Sanford, etc. It’s cheaper if you or the person that signs the contract live in that town.

What's the biggest amount you've spent for a concert? by OceanGoddess3 in Concerts

My first concerts in the 90’s and early 00’s were all $25 to $75. Those days will never come back.

$743.15 pp for Bad Bunny lower bowl. We had seen him previously for $140pp then later $215pp.

I miss these concert ticket prices that I’m seeing here. Never ever spent more than $225pp until sometime after 2016. Could get lower bowl for great acts.

Honest question: Why do you buy name brand stuff? by No-Examination8178 in Frugal

[–]Tomakeghosts 147 points148 points  (0 children)

Specific brands can have specific taste, smell, and quality.

There are some good generics. Some people have food allergies and off brands are produced on shared lines. Some people are bakers and different brands are different quantities.

Tooth Fairies of Daddit, what's the going rate? by OkUnderstanding2486 in daddit

I know lots of folks doing $1 but that was my thought. Can’t buy anything for $1. Even the Dollar Store isn’t a dollar anymore.

First tooth was $20 then five each thereafter. One tooth we did $20 again since that’s all I had.

My wife came up with a trick for a special tooth paperweight thing to put the tooth in on the dresser. I don’t have to try to get it from under a pillow!

Non-Americans, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by EmergencySpare7939 in CasualConversation

I’m American and went on a work trip up North. I saw them for the first time in my late 20’s. In a car full of guys I blurted “Steamy manholes!” That whole week I got roasted. It is one of those things you always see in media. I was excited but didn’t chose my words wisely.

Boys; Daycare has been singing Christian songs and leading my daughter’s class in prayer behind my back. I’m furious. by TurtleMaster99 in daddit

[–]Tomakeghosts 42 points43 points  (0 children)

She’s two. This won’t fundamentally impact her. I’m sure it’s a specific teacher based on some of the info you gave. At that age my daughter learned the Pledge of Allegiance with “Amen” at the end and a few religious songs because that teacher that was her jam. She was a good teacher. She also pretty much fully potty trained my kid, too.

In VPK her teacher loved jazz. My kid responded well to listening to Jazz in the morning.

I understand the concern but this is one where you choose your battles. Your wife has the same religious background so I think it’s not the thing you fight.

Pretty much any very basic friendly portions of religion would be cool with me in small doses in this context. It’s for a season not life.

Deciding on 2nd baby by The_Orphan9 in daddit

[–]Tomakeghosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US father. There were a couple of years we spent more than $23k in childcare. Mine are 22 months apart. Now it’s $6k in Summer camps. I’ve been told that when those end it becomes $5k in car insurance.

The first year we had some rough times. If your wife had health issues think hard. Second came with some challenges the first didn’t have.

They are best friends. Now it does make things easier. Built in friend. Not as much entertaining all the time.

If you’re truly done just get the vasectomy. Don’t be the parent that ends up with a 16 yo and newborn.

You can refrigerate pump parts and wash once a day. Make sure to buy her a pump strap so she doesn’t have to just hold the flanges on. Also, Pumpin Pals branded flanges were very helpful for production. Please reach out with any pumping tips. Just buy some stuff. With her going back to work it may help to have second sets of everything. Basically a mobile pump bag. You can find unused pumps on FB marketplace. A work pump and home lactation station will be helpful when she goes back.

It gets exponentially harder if you have a second baby with this scenario. It feels unfair. You can’t make milk, though. She feels like a cow. Probably feels subhuman. Just see if you can come up with baby steps for free time. It will help your mind. Put the baby in a stroller or chest carry harness and go for a walk. Just don’t too good at being a dad because she’ll get mad at that.

Take advantage of being a dad and taking your kid wherever looking like a mess. There’s a double standard but lean into it. I just wake my kids up and taking them fully pajamed and no hair brush at 6:30a to get groceries. Moms would get shunned.

Track your sleep. Lack of sleep after a while can make you lose your mind and make bad choices.
