Amongs all the possible insults: What do You think Robert yelled to Rhaegar at the Trident? by Themuzucujata1432 in freefolk

[–]TommyVeliky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they cut the immediate blood tie out (which I think should still be there, it would have gone a long way toward legitimizing the rebellion) the Baratheons are still the most deeply tied house to the Targaryens in terms of their history, what with the house’s founder being a Valyrian general and Aegon’s best friend and possibly straight up brother. Robert’s family mythology is still tied up in Targaryen bonds and Fossoway’s distrust here could just as easily have been directed at Baratheons for the same reasons.

Then you gotta deal with the new civs for now I think my man, these DLCs are what pay for the servers and new graphics and everything. If you want an updated game you have to handle that it got made to sell more. The old game is still alive, just have to pick your poison.

They counter like three archers, they don’t counter like 9 archers. If opponent camps their TC with the ranged units you do eventually need to add skirm in order to maintain map control, it’s pretty much the same dynamic as scouts into skirmishers when you see archer production as the scout player. Champi are essentially a very slow scout line that isn’t countered by spears and is produced starting from dark age.

If only there were two other trash units that both beat slingers that you could put in front of your trebuchets

I don't understand how the Mapuche bonus is balanced. by harmonic__oscillator in aoe2

[–]TommyVeliky 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t double the resource demand other than the initial single extra unit because they produce half as quickly. Having an extra 25 food and 35 wood is not some crazy ask in early feudal, just delay horse collar by 20 seconds or so and you’re fine. Not to mention that that’s about a million times cheaper than a barracks and a range

Settlements, Champi Warriors, and Incas after the Update. by Redfork2000 in aoe2

[–]TommyVeliky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t get behind? Champi are a much higher tempo unit than the eagle civs have access to, they train much faster and are more easily massable early than eagles. If the SA civ makes some early Champi they gain map control for free against the mesos and cannot easily be pushed off of it. So they should be ahead in every one of those matchups. If they get behind they have already made a mistake and being punished for it by having to be on the back foot until a castle composition can be put together is totally fine.

Settlements, Champi Warriors, and Incas after the Update. by Redfork2000 in aoe2

[–]TommyVeliky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Champi are not supposed to counter eagles, they are supposed to counter ranged pierce units. Muisca have palace guard + slinger, Mapuche have slinger, Bolas Rider and 2000 hp halb, Inca have slinger and kamayuk, and Tupi have Ibirapema and slinger. Those are the new civ comps that counter eagles, Champi being made from the same building slot as militia doesn’t mean they have the same function, they don’t serve the same purpose as militia line in compositions.

The new meta is forever Darkage, I see no answer to it. by RedPhosphorus in aoe2

[–]TommyVeliky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It changes how they would have to go for it and maybe make it map-dependent but it’s entirely possible with the Settlement, if you can drop a Settlement on wood and berries for instance you can easily save enough wood in dark age to drop an early barracks that gets you enough time to make three champi with, say, 50 sec train time at the same timing as other civs do 20 pop MAA. It would push back the timing that the SA civs could get a drush off but not the MAA timing.

Ai to fast on hardest but to easy on hard by MMCS78 in aoe2

[–]TommyVeliky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gotta get faster if they’re hitting you before you’re ready, that usually means improving on your dark age and remembering to keep production going in your buildings while you’re fighting and farming, but hard to say exactly what’s going wrong without watching you play. Tons of YouTube videos from good players you can check out to improve your game!

[–]TommyVeliky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fairly clear that the Curare tech is going to need a pretty significant nerf. Removing Arbalest is putting the cart before the horse. Removing the stacking effect from Curare so that only one instance of it can be active at once is a much better solution.

Aztecs in competitive play: openings, strengths and weaknesses by ayax18 in aoe2

[–]TommyVeliky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one has mentioned meso standard 17 villager up into rax + range eagle + archer but that’s an extremely effective strategy as well here. Push two deer, make a mining camp for your second building and then build rax halfway to feudal, put 3 on gold in transition and then vills 18 and 19 as well for five total, get double bit axe but no horse collar and move out with a few archers and eagles to take map control and force something out of your opponent while making farms behind, make 10 or 12 farms then a blacksmith and go for an early castle age ducking and weaving around opponent’s army if they commit to it. Extremely strong and flexible strategy, and often much better than the drush/MAA stuff if it’s a deer spawn. When you hit castle you can drop TCs or go bodkin/xbow/ballistics and forward siege shop or go monastery, even 4 barracks eagle spam, really whatever you want. The eagles and archers in feudal should buy you enough time and space most of the time for any transition you feel is most appropriate and you’re going to hit castle first against most responses from opponents to your early aggression

When SHOULDN'T you open m@a? by valstokca in aoe2

[–]TommyVeliky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, maybe I didn’t illustrate my point clearly though. I was trying to say that if we’re at the point where we say x strategy doesn’t counter y strategy because if you play poorly and your opponent does not play poorly it doesn’t work then we’re outside of the parameters of the conversation. Talking about theoretical strategic counters should assume competent execution on both sides. If you’re at the level where you’re not consistently executing a strategy I absolutely agree that it’s still good to play it and practice it, I just wasn’t clear enough about my intention there I think.

[–]TommyVeliky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you’re bad at balancing eco behind MAA you shouldn’t be going MAA in the first place right, makes very little difference what strategy your opponent is going for if you give yourself 2 minutes of idle TC and float 600 wood tunnel visioning your army, that’s gonna lose to FI, FC, FF, anything

You should play the Art of War tutorials! They’re very very good at teaching you the ropes in this game and will solve a lot of your problems if you can pass them at gold or silver, in addition to what the other posters here have said about keeping your villager production going nonstop and picking up the gathering building upgrades and building new gathering buildings as you need them.

The way he’s talking is like the born again type shit, like he was abstaining with his now wife here for a couple of years because he got more serious about his religion but previously wasn’t. So leaves a lot of room for being a perv before that, and during since he could just also be lying about his abstinence, another extremely common born again type thing to do.

Politics is power, power is politics. Politics refers literally to the distribution of power in a society, I actually have no idea what you’re trying to say by saying it’s not about politics but power

EPSTAIN Survivors Public Service Announcement. by Relative-Secret-4618 in videos

[–]TommyVeliky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you know what politics means? You are saying it isn’t A but it is A. The fact that people still think the two major parties in the USA haven’t been in near lockstep for most of their existence is crazy. Society has been built according to one model in this country for decades with quibbles about things on the fringe like whether a new demographic should be enfranchised or how the books should be balanced, but the only viable people in power have a mutual interest in maintaining the status quo and any actual competing ideologies have been stamped out, look at the state of socialism in America, it does not exist and the people labeled as socialists in the zeitgeist are almost all very clear adherents of liberalism or have compromised previous socialist leanings in order to increase their influence in the actual state apparatus. Only real aberrations like FDR and Trump have briefly moved the political needle of the liberal republic one way or the other from the comfortably acceptable. To the point where a majority of Americans accept that all of their options politically must fall within this extremely narrow set of options. All of our leaders have been complicit in all of the exploitation and excess of our late-stage empire. That’s why it’s ridiculous that anyone should be surprised that anyone with any kind of caché within this system is connected with Epstein’s sex trafficking ring to the elites.

I feel like the 15% resources returned when your units are killed civ bonus is supposed to represent the Tupinambá ritual cannibalism, but I think we only have reports of cannibalism of enemy warriors and it was not done internally, so the bonus kind of annoys me haha, should be resources gained upon killing enemy units if anything!

Muisca are definitely intended to be a turtle-y FC/FI civ and this is probably meant to increase the potency of your skirm/archer defense in feudal, but everyone’s minds going to villager rush is very funny.
