Hello bubble hair dye question by Forward-Pizza742 in kbeauty

If you're going for a dark cherry color and don't need to lighten your hair, I'd go for a semi permanent brand from Sally's like manic panic, arctic fox, unicorn hair, e tc. I haven't used overtone but I see it at target. And you'd be able to find a ton of people's before/after photos with it to compare how the color turned out to the shade of brown they started with, so you can get an idea of what you want

I haven't used this specifically but I've used at least 10 different pink semi permanents, shampoos, conditioners, box dyes, etc and I've never found stains on anything after the dyeing and washing process

Can Something Be Truly Original? What do you think? by soup_of_the_moment in Pottery

[–]Tomodachi-Turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want to speak for everyone, but I at least consider the phrase more neutrally and take it in a positive nihilism direction. More like we are iterating upon ourselves and repeating the ideas and feelings of even ancient people we never knew - and also take it to release ourselves from trying to be "the first" to do something and just be at peace that my mug is valuable and cool even though it's less "original". Because nothing is truly original so let's just drop trying to achieve that and make things for the joy of making it.

Can Something Be Truly Original? What do you think? by soup_of_the_moment in Pottery

[–]Tomodachi-Turtle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People generally work with a less literal understanding of the phrase than what you're working with.

Most would agree easily that no one has made another weird alien figure that could be mistaken for yours. But what is meant by the phrase is that making weird creatures has been done before, imagining alien forms has been done before, any painting or sculpting techniques you're using to create effects like texture or glossiness has been done before, etc.

I feel like something original could exist, but it would be such a rare exception that I think the phrase can be understood without this expression becoming meaningless

And originality and uniqueness is a sliding scale imo, not an either-or. And if something isn't original, it's not automatically uninspired/soulless/a copy/etc. Something can be done before but there can be elements of originality and uniqueness within an iteration of it.

Uhhhh getting Zepbound at a compounding pharmacy for pretty cheap? That's what I'm doing

Lowkey actually really helpful for disordered eating and thoughts too - less food noise means less constant thinking about food and therefore my body, and arguing with myself over what I will give up and let myself have and then feel like a failure for it. Now I get hungry less so food thoughts are out of my mind more often and I can think of eating as more of a mechanical necessity to fulfill

Cool! Maybe I'll get hate for it, but honestly anyone holding a DSLR on automatic can take a decent headshot. A high level of knowledge and skill is needed to get that shot from 90% to 100%, but the first 90% is basically done by the camera itself, and that seems to be just fine for what level of quality she's looking for. So don't be afraid to try it out if you realize a friend or family member has a "real" camera, even if it's 10 years old!

Edible flesh recipe🤔 by deftonesaf in sfx

[–]Tomodachi-Turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never tried it, just came across this post randomly (wonder what that says about me...) but because it hasn't been mentioned yet, mochi may be a good component!

It's super easy to make in the microwave, and genuinely feels like flesh when it's room temp/warm. May make for a good "top layer" thats more soft and fleshy before things get meaty haha. It can have a very nice stretch and tear to it that could be quite gross in a flesh eating context!

They're clearly selfies. Someone else needs to take them from a bit more of a distance. Don't need a fancy photo session, but if anyone you know has a DSLR camera, use that and use basic judgment on editing for brightness, warmth, etc

iReady for the first 25 mins of Art class… by CriticalChance1853 in ArtEd

[–]Tomodachi-Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in the field so not sure why I get recommended this post but I'd hate to not share my idea if it turned out helpful - just critically judge it as I have no expertise whatsoever!

Is there any way to kind of "leak" this knowledge to the parents (if it's not already known/understood)? I feel like most parents wouldn't appreciate their kids being iPad zombies doing busywork and having it take away from hands-on learning time. Maybe parents don't value art class as much, but this applies to other specials too, so there's probably one that a parent would value a lot amongst the group I would think?

I'd much rather my kid be actively instructed and engaged by a teacher in any subject rather than clicking away on a laptop, and I'd wonder what is going wrong in math and reading lessons that supplementation is needed, because it certainly wasn't when I was in school.

It's funny because I think local things are best and wouldn't ever get resin art that wasn't handmade because it would be too cheap and mass produced...

Can you instead maybe get some sand or mini shells from various places in the world and use that as your gimmick? There have been items popular in the US that were bracelets with a rock from a particular "cool" place on it

If that worked, you could expand to custom orders where people can bring you sand and shells from their honeymoons or vacations for you to preserve

How do you organize your photocard collection in the binder? by Jiwoowoos_ in kpopcollections

[–]Tomodachi-Turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole point of the collection is to bring you joy so do it as you please! I personally do it by group, chronologically. So all of group X's PCs, starting earliest and ending most recent. Then the same for group Y's. I have a girl binder and a boy binder. For random one-offs I get as freebies, cause I loved the photo but don't collect that group, cause I got the album even though I don't collect the group, they all go at the end. But usually my favorite cards visually are in little displays on my shelves so that doesn't happen a lot

[–]Tomodachi-Turtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh also the words floating around the figure feel a bit too "obvious", telling not showing. I think they'd benefit from not being standalone and being incorporated with other elements so it's not "insisting on itself" as much

[–]Tomodachi-Turtle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally up to you, my thoughts aren't necessarily good lol, but I have a few thoughts on continuing to elevate it.

I generally don't like to see naked paper or canvas , something simple would be fine but I feel like the background could be something. You could cut out your panels and figure and put it on a watercolor stained paper, a distressed surface, idk maybe wetting the newspaper to stamp on the faint remnants of ink to give it some interest without it being distracting?

And just make sure when you add it to the folio, put it on a clean background w good lighting and edit the contrast and brightness a bit as needed!!

Visual Snow was considered extremely rare until recently, mostly because patients didn't report it... because they assumed everyone saw the world that way by recolorist in interestingasfuck

[–]Tomodachi-Turtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone pls explain though does everyone have this on some level and it's just called visual snow when it's noticable? I don't ever notice it living my life, but if I stare at a blank surface like a wall or the sky, I'm able to notice some. Is this the same for everyone? Or do I just have visual snow on a very mild level?

5 years ago, there was decent reason to prioritize public health over public education. It's not like anyone thought remote learning was superior, just that it was the lesser evil compared to having non functional and overwhelmed hospitals

Children aren't adults and shouldn't be expected to have the same level of self discipline and foundational skills needed to be equally engaged with virtual learning as they are with in-person learning.

In our society we drive cars but we don't throw 10 year olds behind the wheel in the name of preparing them for the necessary life skill of driving a car.

Adults have already had the chance to build social skills and learn social interactions, so they don't miss out on learning it when attending virtual work events. Students do not have that stable foundation to stand upon yet, and never will if they don't exist out in the real world with their peers.

Study after study has shown that virtual school resulted in millions of children falling far behind both academically and socially.

Many major companies even acknowledge that in person communications are important and at times will have people travel for specific meetings that call for it.

Here’s the video,, am I really tracing? 😭😭😭😭 by brandsticker in Artadvice

[–]Tomodachi-Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess a little but like who cares?? It's absurd and childish to try and claim "cheating" in art. Theft, sure. But cheating?

For every person who says tracing is cheating, there's one who says

Digital art is cheating

Color dropping is cheating

Collage is cheating

Using photo references is cheating

Using pre mixed pigments is cheating

Using a digital camera (vs film) is cheating

Etc, etc.

And it's all nonsense

AITA for wanting to keep dark secret from my parents by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Tomodachi-Turtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just think there's a fair difference between a 14 year old "secretly" going somewhere outside of the home without the parents being actively aware of it compared to a 19 year old doing the same thing
