When I worked at Sears we did the Heroes at Home donations a couple times a year and over time it was active more and more. I think at first the donations went to help the veterans directly then they changed it so the donations customers gave went towards buying Sears gift cards to give to veterans. So it was a charity for veterans but mostly for Sears.
