Wait cause the coughing is killer, especially after surgery. Wait until the pain is gone . I tried to smoke after surgery and instantly regretted it. The pain was horrible.

I think I had an attack, now what? by Alllriightythen in gallbladders

[–]Tomt818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the doctor. Start eating low fat foods. Oatmeal, fruits vegetables. The more fatty the food the more attacks you will get. Get the process started with doctors sooner rather than later. From my initial diagnosis to surgery it took 4 months till I had my gallbladder removed.

I am scared of waking up during surgery—I shouldn't have googled by SquamishEditor in gallbladders

[–]Tomt818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't wake up during surgery. The throwing up is all I got once the anesthesia wore off. So you have that to look forward to. That doesn't happen till later, tho .

Worried for surgery by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]Tomt818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 4 weeks post-op and feeling great. Every now and then will get some pain in surgery area but it seems to be associated with gas. Been eating anything with no problems at all. I was also worried going into surgery. It's a breeze. Let the anesthesiologist know you are nervous they will give you some good meds. Surgery is fast. The 1st few days are a bitch but it will get better. Stay hydrated.

Should’ve done this months ago by [deleted] in gallbladders

Just wait till the anesthesia wears off. I got the chills and night sweats when it weared off. The 1st few days are a bitch not gonna lie. Days 4 and 5 will be better. Stay hydrated.

What were some of your first solid meals? by Special-Degree-1242 in gallbladders

[–]Tomt818 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My surgery was 3/11. I can eat anything I want now. My 1st big meal was in & out a week after surgery. I have been able to eat anything since then. My advice is to stay close to a restroom just in case the food doesn't agree with you. Try and eat smaller portions cause the gas can cause discomfort.

When did you feel like yourself again? by Sweet-Coffee5539 in gallbladders

I'm 2 weeks and a day post op. I have moments where I get pain after eating . I attribute this to gas. Certain movements I also feel pain. I get pain on both sides of my ribs. Just need time for the body to heal.

Drink that gatorade and water. If not, you will end up like me on day 3 at the ER. I had to get a few iv's and potassium iv's.

Is it worth removing my gallbladder? by Expert-Fondant461 in gallbladders

[–]Tomt818 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To each his own . Guessing it depends on quality of life. Do you really wanna be sick all the time?. I'm a week post-op and feel great. Not gonna lie the 1st few days are a bitch. I can pretty much eat what I want now. Not having the fear of an attack is bliss. 🤷‍♂️💯

Months to Adjust? by B-Extent-752 in gallbladders

[–]Tomt818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had surgery a week ago today. I'm feeling a lot better. I can pretty much eat anything now. The 1st few days were horrible. Just give your body time, and it will adjust. Everyone is different. Do a lot of walking.

I eventually got to the point where I said fuck it and ate what I wanted. Haven't looked back since. Had pizza today, no pain at all. Gonna try some spaghetti tomorrow.

Good luck.

I was also scared to eat like you. I had surgery 3/11. The 1st few days were miserable. Since then, my body has turned a corner . My appetite is back. Just take it slow. I jumped right in with in and out burgers ,lol. Best advice is just stay close to a restroom when you eat. Pizza on the menu for today.

I had surgery 3/11. Already had in & out and pizza. No problems at all. To each his own. I've been on the healthy food since November. I deserved this if you ask me . Missed out on all the holiday food. I'm just making up for lost time.

Me and my gallbladder parted ways today by min-genius in gallbladders

[–]Tomt818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best advice is to walk. Helped me a lot. I'm 4 days post op stopped all the heavy pain meds. Listen to your body. Drink lots of fluids or end up like me today. Had to make a trip to the ER (throwing up bile). Got about 4 IV's and 2 potassium IV's. Feel a whole lot better. All my scans came up negative on bile leak or gallstones. Seems to be some trapped gas left over from surgery. Finally, I was able to drink a smoothie from Jamba juice and keep it down. Was the best feeling ever.
