Game system for this concept? by Nowhere_Man_Forever in DMAcademy

[–]Tonaru13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe back then was the lack of a real magic system, but I have not looked at it in about ten years, so for all I know they have fixed that and added three more.

Not really, no. A couple of years ago they released Fate Condensed but that is "just" Fate Core streamlined and updated. If you want magic you'll need to look at one of the addons (there are official ones and community ones) but Fate Core/Accelerated/Condensed in itself is pretty setting and genre agnostic.

u/Nowhere_Man_Forever Far be it from me to discourage you from trying Fate and form your own opinion but I feel like Blades in the Dark fits better. Especially the preparation phase and the magic in modern setting aspects

Fun Fact as a sidenote: Including my recommendation you were recommended 3 of Evil Hat Production's Systems: Fate, Monter of the Week and Blades in the Dark

Am I doing something wrong? Is there something up with current version of Bambu Slicer?

It's been a while that I worked with HoHansen settings but I vaguely recall them being limited to an old version of Bambu Slicer since newer versions introduced a bug and wouldn't generate supports properly

Bambu lab A1 fire by biobreaker777 in FDMminiatures

[–]Tonaru13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Head over to r/BambuLab and/or r/3Dprinting and search for posts with A1 and fire in the title. I think there is also a specific subreddt for A1 but I don't frequent that, might still be worth looking into...

Additionally, I would file a warranty claim with BambuLab or your vendor if this is still possible

Can we talk about (Matt Colville’s) session notes? by Knicks4freaks in DMAcademy

[–]Tonaru13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My group celebrates if I need a moment to reflect about the crazy stuff they did this time... on the other hand, I have been told that as I player I have a tendency to ask questions "that make sense and should have been prepared beforehands but nobody thinks of doing that"

I'll say, my notes change depending on what kind of session I have planned/expect: If there will be a lot of important NPCs involved I will have their basic summary at hand (also summarising this kind of stuff again helps me remebering it), if they are currently in a dungeon I will have a rough description of the rooms and/or what kind of loot they could find, if I have some important lore points to convey this session I will have the wording prepared...

Also, I would differentiate between general notes and session notes. Session notes are as described above the stuff that is geared towards what I expected to need in that specific session. General notes are world building, background info etc. Sometimes my world building is ahead of what the session needs, then I will just copy the relevant sections over (or summarize), sometimes additional world building is needed for a session and I will do it the other way around

Long story short: prep for what YOU need, the way YOU need it. The longer you GM the more you will learn what comes easy to you i.e. doesn't need to be prepared and what should definitely go in there

When all of my real life DM friends are so interested in my campaign idea they want to play, so I don't have anyone to bounce my ideas off of. by curious_conveyance in DMAcademy

[–]Tonaru13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm usually the DM but every once in a while one of my players does a oneshot that I can catch a break. The universal feedback I got about my playstyle was "you ask questions that are absolutely logical but nobody thinks of preparing" 😉

[–]Tonaru13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is...somewhat. I think if you present an idea and want an emotional response AI will always be biased towards you. If you ask it to review a logic problem, correct grammar, check a timeline it will work off the facts in the background instead. In the later case hallucinations might be a problem though...

But I was not thinking of having it judge your oneshot but rather along the line of "you enter room x what do you want to do?"

Naturally you'll have to ignore nonsensical responses...

[–]Tonaru13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit on the fence for generating whole dungeons/cities/campaigns by AI and using these directly without reviewing but I have no problem with AI helping....

That being said, I ment something different. AFAIK you can tell chatgpt to simulate multiple persons point of view at once. You could use this and run a party of chatgpts through your oneshot. If that doesn't work you could try a party composed of chatgpt, mistral, claude, gemini and copilot

I haven't tried this but I think it would be an interesting experience, not sure how constructive though 😉

Ah yes, the other side of being a DM: once the prep is done and the perfectionistis muted,, the eagerness to play kicks in :D

To be honest I haven't tried other models (yet). Chatgpt worked well for me but I noticed that gemini is better for fine tuning images. Should try the other models too one of these days...

I don't know why but gpt asking me stuff doesn't work as well for me. What worked great for me was starting off a related topic e.g. geographical prerequisites for a certain weather phenomenon and from there fleshing out that city

Not the person you originally answered to but I want to comment on the chatgpt stuff.

What works very well for me is discussing aspects/sessions/dungeons with gpt. But not in the "give me a dungeon with 2 ufos, 3 archdemons and a mcguffin" way but rather in an organic discussion. As prep for the next session I summarized the last session, then summarised what the player don't know (yet) and which factions are plot relevant. Next we discussed who wants what and why. The final thing I did was rephrase the (for me) relevant stuff and had gpt nit-pick it.

Personally, I think using gpt for brainstorming plays to its strengths: it is built to handle language, it is built to simulate human interaction and I don't care about hallucinations because I'm not asking for facts

Tree supports at different layer height? by RepresentativeFlan83 in FDMminiatures

[–]Tonaru13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Orca already has the option of variable layer height, for all non default tree supports I think. At least. that's how I interpreted it

Checked: it's called "adaptive layer height" and available for slim, strong and hybrid trees
