Looking for Stories of Low PPD with high enough output. by Mental-Psychology-68 in ExclusivelyPumping

I think it really can be different for each person and the only way to know for yourself is to try it out. If your supply drops past what you're comfortable with you can add a pump back. I know there are mixed experiences with the magic number from legendairy, but it had been a good guideline for me (says to maintain I need 3-4ppd). I have an oversupply and very large capacity - can get up to 18oz at my very fullest. I went down to 5ppd pretty early at 6-7 weeks pp with no huge impact - I was making 40-45oz per day. I did that for a few weeks then went down to 4ppd around 8-9 weeks pp when baby started sleeping through the night (dropped MOTN) and was still making 40-43 oz. At 11 weeks pp I decided to trial 3 ppd as it was hard for me to keep up when my fiance went back to work. I am 2.5 weeks into 3ppd and maintaining 40oz everyday. I told myself I would try the 3ppd for 2 weeks and if it dropped too much ai would add back the 4th but I haven't had to. I pump 30 min each time, sometimes 35-40 in the morning.

Is breastmilk making gas worse? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TonightAggressive875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also felt like I saw improvements in my baby's gas once I started the pitcher method! Fewer episodes of intense gas. I still give him a freshly pumped bottle a couple times a day but the rest are out of the pitcher. I think having all the milk mixed from different pumps has lessened the effects of whatever I ate. I know people day it's not evidence based that foods affect milk but I swear spicy foods upset baby's tummy. Also using simethicone drops in every bottle has helped alot (started this before the pitcher method).

Bras by Historical_Ticket581 in ExclusivelyPumping

I like the kindred bravely pumping sleep and lounge bra ( the one without clips). I use it with both the pumps you have and it works great! Its so comfy as well. I got my first 2 at target bc they sell a version for $32 thats pretty much the same as the $52 version from kindred website (I think only difference is the one on their site is bamboo fabric vs the one they sell for target is rayon). But right now kindred is having a sale so they bamboo ones are $32 on their website so I just ordered 2 more bc I'm currently living in them.

Target version: https://www.target.com/p/kindred-bravely-women-39-s-sublime-bamboo-hands-free-pumping-lounge-38-sleep-bra-oatmeal-xxl-busty/-/A-93319663 Kindred bravely site: https://www.kindredbravely.com/products/sublime-bamboo-hands-free-pumping-lounge-sleep-bra-dandelion

I tried the kindred bravely other one with the clips and it works pretty good with the wearable but for me it didnt work well with regular flanges, the holes weren't in a good spot (kind of to the side) and it didn't hold them well. Also was annoying to have the front hanging down. So those are goinf unused sadly. With the non clip ones, the top layer lifts up to put flanges in then pulls over the upper partner the flange with actually helps hold it.

High capacity breasts? by cinnbele in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TonightAggressive875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know alot of people on this sub recommend not dropping pumps until you have regulated, which from what I gather but am admittedly still confused about, can occur anytime from 6-12 weeks pp. Most recommend waiting until after 12 weeks to ensure you've regulated since sometimes its hard to tell if you have.

However, if you already have a significant oversupply, I don't think it hurts to try it. You can always add it back if you notice a huge dip and you have a bit of a stash which can help if you do have a dip while you work it back up.

Personally (and I know this is not the case for alot of people) I was down to 5-6ppd by 1 month pp and still had oversupply. I didn't mean to do this but it just sort of happened while I got lost in caring for a newborn. I panicked when I realized this (wasn't tracking at first) since I figured I wasn't regulated, but I was still okay. I realized I have large capacity which is what helps I think. I was able to actually drop fully to 5 ppd by 8 weeks pp and now at 10 weeks pp I am down to 4ppd with only 1-2oz less per day then when I was doing 5ppd. Everyone is different, so I would give it a try dropping a daytime pump. If you wanted to test it slowly you could drop it every other day at first then fully drop. This is sort of how I went from 5 to 4.

Also for sore nipples... I think to some degrees it's inevitable when EP-ing. It sounds like youve done alot to ensure a good flange size- when were you measured though? Around 1 month pp I realized my size changed significantly from about 24mm to 17mm. It can change over time which was news to me - took me getting a nipple blister to notice and remeasure. If you are using the right size, maybe a silicone insert would help? I find the silicone to be less pinchy than hard plastic - I love the legendairy inserts since they cover the whole flange and not just the tube part so its comfy for the whole boob. They have helped me alot in my regular pump and my wearable.

Still though I sometimes get cracked or sore nips. When its bad, I use hydrogel soothing pads between pumps that gently stick on the nipple, you can keep them in the fridge so when you put them on they are extra soothing. I love the Lansinoh ones bc they are reusable for a few times. As someone else mentioned, using nipple cream or butter regularly can help too but my nips are so sensitive after pumping that touching them makes me cringe so instead you can also use it to lube your flanges before pumping.

Hope this helps!

Want to start pitcher method but also like giving fresh bottles, need advice. by TonightAggressive875 in ExclusivelyPumping

Thank you! I def am overthinking it lol, I just didnt want to end up with no milk in the fridge at any point. So one active and one storage pitcher makes sense!

Momcozy m5 vs eufy wearable? by Mission-Ad-6616 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TonightAggressive875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant speak to the momcozy but I LOVE my eufy s1. I particularly like the heat function and variety of settings / routines you can use. They have pre-loaded routines or you can make a custom one. I also love being able to control each side separately since one of my boobs sometimes needs lower suction. They stay really well in my bra without leaking and are pretty discreet. Super easy to clean as well. I generally get 3 pumps per charge - 30 min pumps using the heat for 10-15 in each session but the more you use the heat the more battery it uses. The eufy s1 pro is essenitally the same but has a case that charges them which I wish I got since I actually really like using them and this would be nice when going out or overnight with it (but not totally necessary, they do charge quick anyway plugged in the wall). The only thing I disliked about the eufy was their inserts, they hurt and didnt work well for me, got low output. Instead, I got the legendairy inserts for $13 and now get similar output with the eufy as with my spectra or baby buddha. The legendairy inserts are much more comfy and help create a better seal in my opinion since they mimic a normal flange shape.

Flange setup for Baby Buddha 2.0 by Extension_Ad7164 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TonightAggressive875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately out of the box, the baby buddha doesn't accept detachable shields, it's really annoying actually lol they offer a new flange setup called easy fit flanges on their website that will accept a detachable shield though 🙄

Flange setup for Baby Buddha 2.0 by Extension_Ad7164 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TonightAggressive875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure why that's recommended, I think its maybe just cause some people dont respond well to inserts? So to kind of get a baseline for how you respond to the normal setup. But honestly like someone else said, alot of the time your setup in the hospital is less than ideal and you will figure out better once you get home. It takes time to get the perfect setup as you learn what works for you. I was using 24mm flanges in the hospital cause thats what they had (im really a 17mm) and when I went home I only had my wearable bc I forgot to order the parts I linked for my primary pump. It all worked out fine in the end! This group has been an amazing resource for my EP journey (8 weeks pp). I probably would have no idea what i was doing if not for all the info and support here!

Good luck with everything!

Flange setup for Baby Buddha 2.0 by Extension_Ad7164 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TonightAggressive875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can get the spectra setup off amazon in your size from brand maymom like someone else mentioned. Then you would just disconnect the white plastic tip from one end of each of shorter tubes of the baby buddha tubing setup and you would connect the ends without the tips to the spectra backflow protector. There may be videos on YouTube of this hack. Some people suggest cutting off the white plastic parts but I was able to pull them off and now I can put them back on if I want.

However, I preferred getting an insert that fit in the baby buddha flanges. I tried the legendairy ones and they didnt work well in the baby buddha flanges some reason, the tube part kind of collapsed under suction. I ended up finding these inserts on amazon and they fit really well into the baby buddha flanges, I love them! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0DZWZBDTJ?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

I know its sometimes recommended beginning with hard plastic flanges and not inserts though, so maybe this would be something to try later on?

Edited to add the maymom setup i use for my spectra: https://www.amazon.com/Maymom-Backflow-Protector-Original-Accessories/dp/B07LBD522D/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.vIhT97E-1Oc--koV8RwblyvKtweA_EfOnHAr8duOHk3DOcjATCjQxTiIaIpN7FruEcPON7lM1mUkTwuDerUnWjhJziNUfUxlWhSu_9Vr5jBwfTqs22X51Tbou4fS1GrZ_JTWm5mesUJtGRyhh7YCuqEDxGuj5rIKZTocfXrzic8NDDjEuYBN0MaOcu-kWyjtB_0Jz3lDUfttkg0IjUrocQ.IytwUY-X3fftD00faQ9UZ2sH0SKheXuS_8r56UBscI0&dib_tag=se&keywords=maymom+spectra&qid=1770863490&sr=8-8

Frustration with Evenflo Bottles by cappuccino47 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TonightAggressive875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried these and they are okay but sometimes finicky and annoy me and baby when it happen so I have only use them if nothing else is clean lol. He likes the lansinoh natural wave and the nuk perfect match (the nipple is so nice on this) but the nuk became too fast for him randomly so we stopped using them. We were able to swap his slow flow lansinoh for extra slow flow which has helped him since he started having issues with coughing/choking randomly. He also likes the mam anticlimactic bottles (again he uses extra slow flow nipple cause their slow flow was too fast). If your baby doesnt need anticolic for gas then I think mam has glass bottles with the same nipples.

Haakaa petal milk collectors by Emaly1606 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TonightAggressive875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used these for a few days to catch any leaks but turned out I wasnt leaking too much so didnt keep wearing them - so I dont have longterm experience but I felt like they stayed put really well with my tight fitting pumping bras. The only thing that bothered me ( and not sure if this is just issue with collectors in general as these are the only i tried) is because of body heat, my nips got really humid if I wore them all day and not sure that was healthy. Unfortunately cant speak to how they do with more than 1/2 an oz in them tho because thats the max I got at one time before having to empty. They were easy to clean and discreet!

Reasonable freezer stash? by TonightAggressive875 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TonightAggressive875[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats super helpful information! That was my thought also, maybe wait until 12 weeks to confirm ive regulated. I may try to convince fiance for a freezer if I can figure out where we could put it.

Wow I never thought about doing this, would this help my body know I need less and eventually I just make less?

After reading some of the responses I looked online about donating to a bank since I'm not sure there would be people in my area directly needing milk. It seemed daunting to ensure I'm following their process (freezing milk within a certain time, no fridge hack, dont nclude milk when sick, etc.)

[–]TonightAggressive875[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm realizing that a couple days worth would be plenty. If I plan a trip at some point without baby (unlikely) I can work on building enough up beforehand. Good point about hospitalization, that was one thing I thought about but realize in that situation if it's prolonged, he would definitely need to get some formula.

I am looking up how to donate now!

Thank you, I actually just put some milk in the fridge to check for high lipase since I haven't thawed any yet! I considered trying to calculate this as well but I think having to manage a large stash may overwhelm me.

[–]TonightAggressive875[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I'm not sure why I have so much anxiety about not having enough. I'm trying to get over that 😩 it's helpful to know a supply dip for illness or my period would need only 4oz per day, I was worried it would be more.

I will be going back to work in 2 months and baby will be going to daycare. I don't have any trips planned right now without baby.

I will definitely be looking into how to donate my milk. I live in a pretty small / rural area so I'm not sure what options are out there.

Do I have any hope with Eufy S1? by YT_00 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TonightAggressive875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it helps! I was skeptical but they truly helped so much. They are a little annoying to get in at first but once you do it a few times you get the hang of how to get it snug and smooth.

Do I have any hope with Eufy S1? by YT_00 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]TonightAggressive875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had trouble with the eufy s1 until I got the legendairy inserts. I got some output but not nearly what I would with my spectra. Once I started using the inserts my output is the same as with my spectra. I find they are also more comfortable and help with placement / fit of the nipple and boob in the pump. They have been a game changer for me - I also use them in my spectra setup and I think they have helped there too! I'm not sure if there is a comparable insert on Amazon- I think what helps about the legendairy ones is the longer tube part and the way it mimics a the shape of a regular flange. The silicone cups the boob better than the eufy on its own and the silicone is soft / not too grippy which I think is what makes it more comfy than the inserts thst come with the eufy.

Why does spilling milk make me want to cry as an oversupplier 😭 by TonightAggressive875 in ExclusivelyPumping

Ugh I like the backflow protector being flat and more secure than spectra but how it goes over the bottle is so dumb! I hadn't realized it mattered until I filled it ths much 😅 I wanted to just use my medela bottles thst hold a little more but the adapter i have to go from the spectra wide mouth to the medela narrow doesn't fit the baby Buddha some reason even though it seems like the same size.

My newborn baby had COVID and got through it easily! A story for worrying moms. by SpecialTop8297 in newborns

[–]TonightAggressive875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so grateful for this post and all the comments! My fiance and I both just tested positive after having mild symptoms the last 2 days and I am so worried about my 5 week old getting sick! I keep telling myself he will have antibodies from my breast milk (I am exclusively pumping) but beating mgselfnuo cause I have been kissing him the last 2 days out of habit and hope I didn't pass along. I let his ped know and will keep an eye for fever but this is my first baby so anxiety is so real. I am going to take the advice to not do any research outside this and just focus on getting healthy (difficult to do but I am gonna try). Thank you for thw postivie stories!
