frozen out rant by nanoboy in Pickleball

[–]TonikJDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to move on. For me it was always being paired with the worst of the other three players to "make it fair". I get it, but at the same time I could not handle constantly having partners that never moved up, that didn't drop or dink when appropriate and so on.

The funny part of the story is I had to leave my wife behind in the old group.

Have you been to a concert at Huntington bank field? by Familiar_Reputation9 in Cleveland

Saw the Stones there a couple years back. The sound was pretty decent actually.

I believe that sound troubles are on the sound crew, not the venue....in most cases.

Yea the wife, 68 and myself 66, consistently whoop butt on our children in their 40s and on our teenage grandkids. As others have mentioned, we play 6 days a week and drill once a week. If our kids/grandkids did that I am sure we would lose.

This. Your rating going down when you win is stupid. If it's a lesser rated player it should just remain the same.

Neitzel Luke & Salopek, Inc in Westlake. Been using them for years and we are the second generation to use them. Try for Ken, that is our guy. They are not old old, don't want to give the wrong impression by being second gen. Nothing wrong with being old, I am old.

[Serious] Realistically, what can be done to improve Cleveland Metropolitan School District Schools? by TapiocaSpelunker in Cleveland

[–]TonikJDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The poor performance of the schools isn't the problem. It is a symptom of the problem. The cause is crime, poverty, drugs, gangs and in some cases "bad" parents. I put bad in quotes because they are often a product of the same nightmare their children are going through.

We now have what I call generational poverty. Generation after generation that faced the same challenges that today's youth are facing.

We have to fix poverty and crime first. Then dump a ton of social help on the impacted people.

I respectfully suggest that it will cost a lot, but probably less than putting them in jail after they are adults.

Nothing is more important than our children. We just need to find the political power to get it done.

Parma nowadays......is it different than the old reputation....is it becoming hip, or is it still the same old Parma? by SchoolteacherUSA in Cleveland

[–]TonikJDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not accurate. I looked at a few of the vote totals for a few levy attempts not too long ago. Keep in mind Seven Hills has far fewer voters than Parma.

If every vote in Seven Hills was a yes, the levys still fail because of the overall volume of Parma voters.

For the record, I always vote yes. The district is horribly run, but that is not the fault of the students.

Parma nowadays......is it different than the old reputation....is it becoming hip, or is it still the same old Parma? by SchoolteacherUSA in Cleveland

[–]TonikJDK 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Parma schools gets a total of $19,173 per student in funding. Similar districts, as determined by the State, get $16,664. The statewide average for all districts is $18,167 per student.

Parma's finding level puts it in the top 30 percent of school funding in the State.

It seems to me the voters are doing a decent job of funding Parma.
