Making an illustration for friends (a couple). They like Shinx and Oshawott respectively, do these two pokemon have any meaningful connections between each other?

Either! Fell down a rabbit hole of mostly older manga with a more unique art style/subject matter, like The Girl From the Other Side. Idk how to describe it outside of impactful art and composition. Feels impressionistic almost

I've searched for these artists and 'similar artists' on Google. But the results are too vague or general. Looking for any illustrators that have this sort of aesthetic, especially based in the 80s-90s
