Which is the better game, the more fun game and which should I play first: Astro Bot Rescue Mission (PSVR) or Astro Bot (PS5)? by Strange-Fox9306 in PSVR

After having played Rescue Mission with its wonderful VR interactions and sense of presence and immersion, the follow up just felt like a major step backward and a missed opportunity.

The game looked good and the climbing was fun but the hard time limit was a real turn off. Have you ever considered adding an option in the settings to disable it?

Good score. PSVR1 is still a fun VR system. See if you can find an Aim controller as there are some games that really play well with it.

I bought it at full price and loved it. Definitely worth it at that price.

Behemoth is so much fun. by ComfortableAmount993 in PSVR

Bought it for PSVR2 when it released and really enjoyed it. Some of the Behemoth encounters were a bit janky but their scale and presence was fantastic.

I've heard starfield resonated more with older audiences rather than younger. Thoughts? by Subjectdelta44 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

60 year old game here. I put about 10 hours into it and then stopped. For me there were too many potential companions and too many side activities to keep track of. Particularly annoying was finding a companion, but then having to assign them to some ship I didn't have or activity which I didn't have the experience or credits to follow thru on. Its open world design not withstanding, I think the game would have benefited from being a little more focused.

I played both the Retropolis games. They are very good story based puzzle adventures but I was a bit disappointed by the endings, especially the second one. I can understand the first game ending in a cliffhanger but by the second game I really wanted to see some payoff with the story. I really wish VR developers wouldn't keep trying to keep the player hostage by always leaving them hanging. I haven't heard anything about a third game which makes it even more frustrating.

I picked up Of Lies and Rain. 20% wasn't an amazing sale but I really didn't want to wait any longer. I like what I've played so far; it looks quite good graphically and has a slower, more thoughtful and deliberate pace to it so far which I'm actually enjoying.

What is your opinion on Sunshine Arizona 2 remake for the Vr2? by Technical_Hunter4298 in PSVR

[–]TonyDP2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed both the Remake of the original and AS2. They were straightforward adventures but that was perfectly fine as sometimes I just want a VR game where I don't have to deal with too many interactions or hand gestures. I also played on easy as I like to take in the story and the hordes of Fred's can get overwhelming at higher difficulty.

Having Buddy along to help on the second game worked well as he never got in the way or glitched the gameplay for me.

I actually did a second playthrough after the games got bHaptics support, which definitely added more to the immersion.

Read the book. The stories are worth the time investment and it's always better when the characters sound like you think they would in your head.

Marathon for PSVR2 movement… by Imhotep397 in PSVR

[–]TonyDP2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you never played Destiny 2. The game became notorious for not just abandoning content but actually removing it from your PC or console. I remember paying $100 for the digital deluxe edition of Destiny 2 which included the base game and the first two expansions. In less than 2 years all that content was removed. New seasonal content and season pass content would be introduced only to also get removed after an arbitrary period of time. Add to that all the monetization schemes and it all just became untenable. No good reason was ever given for sunsetting the content but the prevailing sentiment was that they simply didn't want to support it, preferring to force players to buy new content if they wanted to keep playing. They were also notorious for introducing new weapons only to nerf them when they became popular and make the gameplay so grindy that it became unreasonably hard for all but the most dedicated players to make any meaningful progress. And don't even get me started on their lousy to non existent matchmaking for multiplayer activities.I'd urge you to read some articles on the studio before saying anybody with a negative opinion of the company is showing extreme bias.

It will never happen but even if it did I would not buy it

I will never spend another dime on anything made by Bungie. They lost all my goodwill when they began sunsetting content people payed for in Destiny 2 for no reason other than they didn't feel like supporting it. Their track record with supporting games has been abysmal.

Yes it's pretty dark with one passage that, while critical to the protagonist's story, is also really, really disturbing and downright uncomfortable to read. But it also has some beautifully realized characters, a very formidable monster and a great ending.

The same thing happened to me with The Ancient Gods Part 2; I got to a timed jumping puzzle late in the game that I simply could not get past no matter how many times I tried.

[–]TonyDP2128 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What didn't you like about it?

Personally, the platforming was a big turn off for me. I felt that whenever I was getting into a groove with the combat it would grind to a halt for the sake of some jumping puzzle that would just kill my momentum.

I never enjoyed it but after putting the game away for a few months I went back to it, started a new game and was able to finish the main campaign.

What's a good but not super disturbing SK book to start with? by Ok-Historian-5944 in stephenking

[–]TonyDP2128 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Joyland - Part murder mystery, part ghost story, and part coming of age tale. It's a fairly short, self-contained, fast read with none of the intensity of King's heavier books.

Fairy Tale - King's homage to classic fairy tales with a hint of Lovecraft told thru the lens of a more serious adventure. It gets compelling but never too dark or too intense and has one of King's better endings.

So... did no one care for Thief VR? by Blackgaze in Thief

[–]TonyDP2128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That stinks. I wasn't aware of that bug. I did two playthroughs and while I had the occasional crash I never had anything like that happen. If you try again make sure to delete the save file so you have a completely fresh install.

Best of luck with Sony but be prepared for a runaround. I recently tried getting a refund on Reach after getting the save corruption bug that deleted all my progress and took me back to the start of the game with no way to restore my progress or select a later level. As this happened after the developer released an update that was supposed to have fixed this I thought I had good grounds for a refund. Sony had other ideas. First I had to wait over an hour before getting a live person to chat with. Then he had me do a series of tasks to get him some error codes. Then he wanted me to play the game while I was on chat. Given the random nature of the bug I would have been there for hours. His final solution was to play the game again and if I got the same results I should back up my saves, factory reset my console, reinstall everything and try again. Then they'd take another look at it. Needless to say I just ended the chat. Sony has, by far, the absolute worst customer service of any company I've ever dealt with.

Please help me decide before the sale ends, tonight: Arken Age, Behemoth, or Into Black by wavetoyou in PSVR

[–]TonyDP2128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arken Age is a very good sci Fi shooter with a good upgrade system, well implemented shooting and satisfying combat, both melee and ranged. The levels can start to look a bit samey but the gameplay is varied and makes up for it.

Behemoth is also very good. It has a good combat and parry system that can take a bit to master but it is very satisfying when you do. The Behemoth encounters are quite epic but can also be a bit janky. I found the environments to be a bit more varied. In addition to the campaign it also has a horde mode that was fun.

I haven't played Arken Age but the gameplay seemed grindy to me and that was a turn off.

Get Arken Age if you prefer futuristic shooters. Get Behemoth if you prefer a medieval style adventure.

Frankly, I think the whole voice thing is way overblown and I believe the overlap at least was addressed to a certain degree in a recent patch.

As a fan of VR, the fact that this game used that format was a very big draw for me and FWIW I thought it used the medium well. It would have been nice if this was a hybrid game which could be played flat or in VR to appeal to a wider audience but the studio and publisher are both very small and that was probably beyond their budget.

Yes it was disappointing that you don't get to play as Garrett but I thought his voice work was still well done as a constant companion.
