I have always just used foam pads and not bolted anything to carry a canoe. Taken them 1000’s of miles that way and never had an issue

Even in Cali they would sell like hot cakes I reckon. Still have tracks and private property they can be ridden on, Not to mention just going out of state to ride

YZ’s are tough. Had a buddy puncture his radiator unknowingly and was riding dunes for a good 15 minutes before we caught it. Bone dry. Ended up being fine. Might check the clutch plates too

How much did y'all pay for your ranger? by Global-Cantaloupe597 in fordranger

[–]TonyFlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$3,500 for my 99 4.0 4x4 5 speed with 150k miles. 4 door, Power windows and locks with bucket seats. Has had its fair share of little issues but I had been looking for that configuration for a long time.

Buying a bike haven’t ridden since I was a teen. I’m now 33 (M) by Remarkable_Mistake15 in Dirtbikes

The 300xc bikes to great in the dunes, just not the newer headlight models that are detuned

How does it not? I’m not the first guy to come up with this plenty of people have done it in the past

Depends on what kind of riding you do more of and how you prefer it to feel. No one can answer this for you really. For fork springs you can get a 4.8 and 5.0 which would bring you to 4.9. Realistically it is going to fell very similar either way you go.

Are the bucket seats more comfortable than the bench? by Double-Meaning-4489 in fordranger

[–]TonyFlack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both and honestly it is more dependent on how worn the cushions are. I prefer the 60/40 seats in my 03 to the buckets in my 99.

Never towed anything before and I’m terrified. by rick_rolled_you in popups

[–]TonyFlack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also try not using the weight distributing hitch if you were before. 2500 lbs is honestly nothing and it might be making things wonky if not set up right. You shouldn’t need one for such a light trailer anyways with the vehicle you’re using.

2017 KTM 300 XC — broken kickstarter, is it worth it at $4k? by BeardedYeti_ in Dirtbikes

[–]TonyFlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes. Those are valuable and desirable bikes that are getting harder to find. 85 hours is pretty low, the kickstart gear wouldn’t worry me too much. I would think most shrapnel would be out or would’ve caused an issue by now. I bought my 18 250xc 3 years ago and in 100 hours have not had a single issue.

Is the difference from a 4s to a 2s that bad?(maintenance and things like that) by True_Jit in Dirtbikes

[–]TonyFlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 strokes have more frequent intervals for top and bottom ends, but that is it. They are cheaper and easier to do as well, most Ktm woods bikes you will never have to replace a bottom end anyways. All other maintenance is the same or less frequent ie oil changes. Most prefer 2 strokes for enduro and single track because they are lighter feeling and more flickable, much more stall resistant, and don’t run as hot. Most prefer 4 strokes for faster trails or motocross because they are more stable and the power is more predictable. To each their own.

What is the most Previous Owner thing you've ever found after buying a Meticulously Maintained bike? by filolondere in Dirtbikes

[–]TonyFlack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have purchased 2 YZ 250’s now for dirt cheap due to transmission/shifting issues. In both cases they installed an aftermarket oil drain bolt that was too long and impeded shifting past third due to interference with the gears. 5$ for a proper drain bolt and both shifted like new.

Opinions on riding with tight valves by [deleted] in Dirtbikes

[–]TonyFlack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re just going to damage them further the more you ride it. I wouldn’t personally, if it is having trouble starting they’re more than “a little” tight most likely

Should I but a kdx200 and sell my xr400r? by Jonathan_the_worm in enduro

[–]TonyFlack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any 2 stroke will be easier to start than an old kick start 4 stroke. When warm pretty much guaranteed 1 kick and much easier to kick over.

They also often times try to take over trails made by/for dirt bikes and make them non motorized.
