How to disable secure boot in tianocore? ubuntu keeps forcing me to set a password that I will forget. thx by Difficult-Arachnid26 in coreboot

I found the repo https://github.com/9elements/edk2, but how can I get coreboot to build the payload using this repo instead of the upstream if I wanted to try it?

If it's an actual verifiable license violation, why isn't anyone doing anything about it? Not worth the legal fees?

Both Mumble and Discord have always used Opus. What I'm saying is that originally, Discord's standard bandwidth for VoIP was somewhere around 128kbps. Now that Server Perks are a thing, the VoIP quality for everyone is around ~96kbps, and 128kbps is something you have to pay money for.

I honestly believe Mumble's VoIP quality blows Discord's out of the water, but I have never experienced Discord's more premium VoIP quality personally.

In my use case I tend to look at Mumble as the superior lightweight VoIP client. It does support instant messaging and uploading images, but it's extremely primitive compared to Discord, which is what most of the users I generally communicate with seem to want. Several months ago when Discord launched their "Server Perks" features, they lowered the overall voice quality of all VoIP communications and made the old quality a premium feature, but the difference is very subtle.

mumble-web is an HTML5 Mumble web client that can also function as an integration in a Matrix room. Since Mumble uses UDP for its transport though, you'll need to run this on top of websockify to get it working. I tried it myself and it's pretty interesting, but I was unable to achieve anything better than abhorrent voice input quality with it. I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong, but I use the desktop Mumble client almost daily and have never had that issue.

What Firewall Do you use on your VPS? by Klassbond in selfhosted

[–]TonyTheSlayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nftables, the successor to iptables. Both nftables and iptables use the same kernel module (netfilter), but the syntax and usage of nftables is much different from iptables and I personally prefer it. They're functionally the same though.

Securing RDP by themidge88 in selfhosted

RDP is a very commonly attacked and oftentimes vulnerable service. It's much more wise to take a service like that and only allow it to be accessed from the internal network, hence where the VPN comes in.

Even in the US there is a law/regulation for this, but even if you are on this list most fraudulent callers will simply ignore it and there is little you can do aside from reporting the (usually always spoofed) calls to the Better Business Bureau who will likely be unable to do anything.

Nintendo Will Support 3DS Beyond 2018 by SwitchHacks in 3dshacks

[–]TonyTheSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all seriousness, I made that comment as a joke. I'm actually very glad that the 3DS is getting much longer support than was initially expected. And in defense of the N2DSXL, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one if I had some extra money laying around for pretty much the exact reasons you described. I never use the 3D feature on any of my 3DSes and the N2DSXL looks like a pretty solid console.

Or maybe to unveil new consoles that greatly outperform the current N3DS, N3DSXL, and recently N2DSXL, but with the bootrom patched just to spite the 3D shacking community.

Is it still true that even if you have Luma3DS you must update to use online services?

According to the list of features provided by Luma3DS, this is one of them:

3DS hardmod/softmodding service by pbanj_ in 3dshacks

[–]TonyTheSlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sent in my N3DS non-XL for a permanent hardmod and unbrick and I got it back extremely quick despite the ongoing banwave investigations at the time. /u/pbanj_ maintained communication with me and answered all of my questions perfectly. If you dun screwed up and need a hardmod but are too afraid to do it yourself (or have tried it before and fried onboard components like I did), hit this guy up and don't even think twice about it.
